Disappointed. However, not totally.

They were good, very good. We were poor, but in all honesty not as poor as they made us look.

However, not totally gutted, because now we don't run the risk of getting beat off Liverpool in the final, and somehow I can't see that happening to Milan this year.

Hah, my mate pointed out it would be a lot worse losing to Man Utd in the final than Milan. However the win would be sweeter, and that would have been the outcome.

Just like the other two times we played Liverpool this season, eh...

How pathetic.

Bollocks you aren't totally disappointed, everyone was bigging this up as United's year for the CL. If you aren't very depressed by that CL exit, you can hardly call yourself a real fan. It hurts a lot, going out.

Also, statistics speak louder than words sometimes:

UNITED AWAY IN EUROPE

SEASON 2004/05
DREW 2-2 at Lyon
DREW 0-0 at Sparta
LOST 3-0 at Fenerbache
LOST 1-0 at AC Milan

SEASON 2005/06
DREW 0-0 with Villarreal
LOST 1-0 to Lille
LOST 2-1 to Benfica

SEASON 2006/07
WON 1-0 at Benfica
LOST 1-0 at FC Copenhagen
LOST 1-0 at Celtic
WON 1-0 at Lille
LOST 2-1 at Roma
LOST 3-0 at AC Milan

I wish I could go, though I don't feel like being beaten up by police or Italian fans or having water bottles filled with urine thrown at me...of course it would have been worse if it was a Liverpool/Man U final.

Pfft, water bottles? When the U.S. team plays in Mexico, they get pelted with sandwich bags filled with urine. You know, so it splashes out easily. :p

I never said a word about our away form, did I? *Reads post again* Nope, would seam as if I didn't. It's not great, not at all. I also think you'll find this was getting 'bigged' up by 'everyone' (?) as our year since we beat Roma 7-1 at home. Roma are nothing of the side AC are. Also, since your posting results regardless if they are at home or away, do you think think we thought it was going well (at the time, of course) when we lost to Copenhagen, Celtic then Roma. That home result against Roma and then 3-2 at home against Milan was a thin layer of wool over the eyes. The 2 seasons before this have been dyer (SP?) we know that, everyone knows that. But it happens.

I also didn't say I wasn't gutted, I said 'Disappointed. However, not totally.' Totally, would have been getting beaten in the final, had it been Liverpool or Chelsea or anyone for that matter. That, would have been gutting. I'm sure you could tell us all about those feelings though XIII. Who are you to tell me how disappointed I am by my teams exit from the champions league anyway?

Not a real fan? People are saying the title race is over, there is 9 points to be won and we only have a 5 point advantage. Nothing is over till its over, I'd call that level headed rather than not being a real fan. Life goes on, there is next year. I tell you what it is, it's watching Carlisle United that does it, you learn to live with disappointment and get on with life. Yeah we've been promoted twice in a row, but look a little further back and you'll see what I mean.

Also, before calling me pathetic, you should possibly have a step back and look at yourself.

Either way, I'll be hoping Milan are the eventual winners.

That's no real surprise is it, it doesn't show Sir Alex up quite as much as a tactically naive manager in European competition. With the money spent and the way that Manchester United dominated the 90's he should have more and he knows it.

Great manager. Nowhere near the genius that was uncle Bob though.

If your team going out after leading 3-2 isn't a train wreck for you, perhaps you're just in it for the glory. You won't be in bad company though.

So you mean conceding 2 away goals against AC Milan then having to go to the San Siro for the return leg is an easy thing to do? A harder task than Chelsea had defending a 1-nil lead and going to Liverpool.

Also, surely if I was 'in it for the glory' (Which I must add surely every fan is, because not wanting your team to win silverware is just a strange attitude to have) I would be more gutted, because now we're not going to have Champions League glory, rather then now looking forward to next year...

Well, although the chances were that Hull were staying up in the Championship anyway, Leeds have nailed shut their own coffin by voluntarily going into administration. Under Football League rules, they are immediately deducted 10 points so finish bottom and head down to League One.

Sadly it means they don't get points deducted next season, so it increases the chance of them coming back up

Well done Jaffa. You may officially celebrate!! :)

What Leeds have done turns football into a joke! They should change the rules on administration, again. It should be 10 points off for 2 seasons in a row.

Why are football clubs so special anyway? If any other business was in the same situation they would not be dealt with in the same way. The clubs want so much money that they bring it on themselves. I remember when Hull where in the brown and smelly, if we had ended up going out of business then it was solely down to the board and that is the same as with any other business which is run in the same way. Leeds lived the dream, as did Bradford and look where they are now! If you make your bed, etc....

Don't hurry back too soon Leeds, no-one will miss you. Enjoy the South Yorkshire Stadium with 5,000 fans.

Learn to run your business first before you try playing with the big boys again (not that I am calling Hull a big team, more the Man Utds and Liverpools)

Or if you go into administration in the last few weeks of the season you automatically lose points the following year too. I agree that it's just a cynical move and not really a punishment. Let's face it, they were down anyway.

Exactly. Glad some folks do indeed think the same way as me. However, it is good business.

Guess thats life.

Champions League bickering aside tho, I'm an honorary Arsenal fan come Sunday afternoon. Just need to get past the tricky tie that is a Manchester Derby.

After last weekend's results there was no doubt in my mind. But yep, the ultimate battle between good and evil has finally, officially been won – and the forces of truth and light prevailed. Dennis Wise is like Darth Vader and Dean Windass is like Luke Skywalker. Splendid.

Indeed! Sunday afternoon at the KC it's going to be party time... :D

No, I don't mean (and I didn't say or imply) that at all. I mean that if going out after leading, when you were in touching distance of the biggest prize in football doesn't wreck your head then surely you need to consider another sport.

The point I am making is that I don't (just like XII doesn't) believe that you're not gutted and I think that you are trying to hide it. It must be even worse to see Liverpool do it two seasons out of three.

I, like you, am already looking forward to next season. We would have had a chance to level the playing field with Chelsea and Manchester in the transfer market and add a few players to make the squad stronger, this should give us the consistency to challenge against the average teams, this is where the title is won and lost.

This season will just have to be about beating the big guns in the big matches in European competition, next season the fight starts with the yard dogs of the league.

I tempted to start singing We Are The Champions but I'm afraid it'll backfire.

Hopefully I can do it in peace in 26 hours!

NEWS FLASH - CHIMBONDA EYES GUNNERS SWITCH

PASCAL Chimbonda last night risked the wrath of Tottenham fans by claiming: I want to play for Arsenal.

French defender Chimbonda has been a big hit since moving from Wigan last summer.

But on the eve of Tottenham's clash with Charlton he opened the door to arch-rivals Arsenal.

"I would like to play for Arsenal one day," said Chimbonda. "Who knows where I will end up?

"Football is a strange game and you can never tell where you will end up.

"Arsenal are a great club but right now I am at Tottenham."

Aahhh I love it!

Well done Man Utd (never thought I would say that!). Stuck one up that pathetic and childish Mourinho. He is a great manager but he just needs to shut up every now and again.

*Hangs head in total shame*

*Remind myself that I prefer rugby anyway* :D

In a way I'm sort of happy that Leeds have gone down - it means I can look at real football again, but it's disgraceful the way it's been handled.

Dennis Wise like Darth Vader? That cocoa smell must be getting to you ;) One of the seven dwarfs more like it.

Looks like Glen Roeder has been sacked by Newcastle. That could be bad news for Hull as Phil Brown could be off to be no. 2 to big Sam.

Well, he is Yoda like in stature but for the stench of pure evil that surrounds him it surely has to be Vader he most resembles. Anyway, Bates is even more Seven Dwarfesque with that nasty little beard of his.

I'm thinking that he'll stick with us, assuming of course that he's offered the job permanently. As rose red says he's had a good taste of management now and it's clear that that's how he wants to progress his career, even with his links with Allardyce – assuming of course it's him that succeeds Roeder at St James' Park.

Anyway, we've got naked pictures of Brown we can use to blackmail him if needs be. ;)
