As I think I've mentioned previously in this thread, Crouch's record for England is pretty good but the majority of his goals have come against quite weak teams. He's a decent enough player and I think he's worthy of inclusion in the England squad as he offers something different, but the long term answer to England's goalscoring needs? I need convincing, I'm afraid.

Still, one thing I can't deny is that the guy knows how to dance. 😎

Can only scored against the team he is put in front.

dance you say

And any living being that can be that tall and gangly and do this doesn't need to prove themselves to anyone ever.

Just seen the new Man Utd strip on MOTD. What is that white bit on the top of the neck at the back? It looks like they all have their shirts on inside out! Stupid Lancastrians!

Ha, I love Crouchy but his future at Liverpool is in doubt.

It's not, he is (if you'll excuse the unintentional pun) a big player for Liverpool and a vital part of the "possibilities" ethos that Rafa Benitez has installed into the football club. They have both publicly (and privately) said that Crouch is assured of his place.

I do doubt he will start a huge amount, but he didn't last season and the job he has done has been magnificent. His goals per minute ration is right up there over the last two season, for both club and country.

United early slip won't cost them, they are too strong to let something like that hold them back, Chelsea on the other hand look very shaky at the back again with Terry absent. No doubt the impending Alves and new boy Alex will solve that problem when Terry is missing.

Torres will, in my opinion, be a massive hit for Liverpool. Having seen him pre-season and against Aston Villa, he is as bright as a button and has lots of power and pace. Once he settles and has a little time to find his feet, you can just tell he is going to be a real handful.

I don't think too much of Arsenal's chances for the coming season but despite their rivals slip up I believe Spurs have a good chance of pinching 4th from them.

I'd like to see Crouch stay at Liverpool but I wonder if Rafa will continue his rotation style; either way Liverpool has a very deep squad this season.

I'm surprised that XIII hasn't piped in with a review of the Arsenal match. I need to call up my cable folks and get FSC signed up for my home, so I can actually watch matches there, rather than highlights on YouTube.

It seems that the Gunners had a last-minute comeback after a very shaky first minute goal allowed by Lehmann. Off to YouTube to see what happened.

Champion's League action tomorrow as well, if I remember.

If you get FSC make sure to get Setanta Sports and GOLTV as well (all three are available on Dish Network), between the three of them you get all the Premier League matches.

Cable is too expensive for me right now so I'm going to try getting Setanta on ITVN, $15 per month for a year and I get at least some of the Premier League Matches plus UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

Well Arsenals performance was shocking, same goes for their fans (but then again Arsenal will always be a library), they got lucky getting a result out of that game.

Hey steady - i'm not a Man U fan (in fact i dispise them - Liverpool for me) but less of the Stupid Lancastrians 😛😛😛

I believe he's on holiday at the moment, but I reckon it's a safe bet he'll be back before too long bemoaning the Gunner's fortunes. 😉

Of course you aren't – you live in Lancashire. 😉

I can't say I'm keen on the white stripe on the back of the United shirts either. I don't think it's a bad effort apart from that – it's clean and simple, which I like in a football shirt – but that stripe just looks odd.

Unfortunately Cox is my only option where I live (stupid park with trees 🙄). I have to call and find out what the soccer package will run me. At least with a DVR now I could watch them at a reasonable hour.

Edit: Woot! It turns out the the FSC package, plus about 10 other fox sports channels, will cost me a whopping $2.70 /month.
I'm all signed up. Go Gunners!

As we're currently heading the Championship, I might legitimately be able to participate in this thread soon. 😉😀

Quoted for the end of the season. 😉

One game in, I love optimism. 🙂

Looks like tonight has started well for Spurs though. 🙄

Thats fine, I'm watching the important stuff anyway (And I'm not much of a Spurs fan) First round of the Carling Cup. It could be worse, you could be a Barnet fan...

Well, as your next league match is against the Tigers I think it's a reasonable assumption that you'll be getting another three points heading your way, and a healthy boost to your goal difference to boot... 😡

Don't be like that Jaffa, at least one game in you've still got a manager. 🙄
Given the team selection and tactics employed this last Saturday, there are those who think that the wind of change could do well to waft its way through the KC at the moment. I don't know myself, but there are things that need to be put right that simply aren't being addressed.

Anyway, while we're on the subject is there any word yet on why McDonald actually got the boot?

None what-so-ever. Word on the street is that he fell out with the players, quite badly.

But I've read 5-6 different things since yesterday morning ranging from him being tapped up for other jobs to his drinking being a problem, so really none the wiser.

Another thing on my mind is how the seedings work for the Carling Cup? As I see Hull are not playing this evening, but other Championship clubs are?
