Spotlight keeps indexing on boot for hours

Everytime I restart my system spotlight begins to index over and over. I let it do an initial index when I did a clean install on my 2011 15 MBP.

After upgrading to the new iTunes, my artwork widgets in Dashboard no longer display embedded artwork. The artwork shows up fine in iTunes, and I can control iTunes with the widget, but artwork does not show up in the widget. Very strange.

Even more strange, Finder won't even see the album artwork. Icons used to show the artwork, but now I just get the generic iTunes icon. In iTunes, the artwork is clearly there and embedded in the file.

Graphical Issues with 2011 iMac and lion

I have a 2011 27" iMac (core i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB) with 2 external displays, most of the graphical issues are present in the external displays but the manu bar, dock and volume popup all messup on the main display.
On the external display most apps look like this
FQ0AJ.png

there are a few exceptions like steam, safari and itunes, these apps don't mess up though almost all other apps do.
I never had these issues with Snow Leopard but as far as I can tell its some kind of graphics driver problem, don't know how this wasn't spotted in the beta..

Everything seems to work for me except Nullriver MediaLink. The media server itself works fine — my PS3 streams from my MacBook as it did under SL. However, I can't open the MediaLink pref pane.

I updated my medialink to 2.31 and had the same thing. I had installed it in my main library preference pane. I checked my user library preference panes and had a couple old ones in there from ages ago. I deleted those and moved the new one in there and it works great.

I have the same configuration as you, and get the same graphical errors occasionally.

iMac freezes, and Mail image persistence

2011 21.5" iMac - OS X 10.7 Lion

I am experiencing frequent freezes with Lion; the mouse continues to work, but system is unresponsive and cannot force quit. Only solution is to power down. I see from the Apple discussions that lots of people are experiencing this.

and Mail - when I Load Images for an HTML mail message, the images load correctly, but next time I view that message, they have gone again; previously Mail remembered the images once loaded.

Otherwise enjoying the new system; looking forward to bug fix updates.

Spyder3Elite screen calibration app still works, but the utility that monitors ambient light levels and adjusts dynamically does not.

- Tried full disk encryption. Seems to work fine so far but I haven't used it for long.
- With the disk encrypted, the recovery partition had my WiFi network already configured... Lion must have copied the configuration from my main installation since it should not have been able to recover the settings from the encrypted drive. I did not have to enter a password to boot the recovery partition.
- Trying re-install from the recovery partition:
-- BUG: Could not unlock my encrypted partition to re-install over it with my user password... I have the password prompt but the password doesn't work.
-- Erasing the disk/partition doesn't kill the recovery partition. At least there is some protection. :)
-- I tried to create up-front an encrypted file system but it failed with a strange error message
-- Re-installing from the recovery partition requires a complete re-download.
-- Re-downloading Lion from the recovery partition requires the entry of an Apple ID credentials. It must be the account from which Lion was purchased. This can be annoying...
- I burned a DVD with the .dmg file found in the installer. I'll try next to erase my SSD (secure erase to recover performance) and I'll make a complete clean install.

Just set a firmware password from Utilities in the recovery partition, then it will ask for a password when you try to boot to it.

I've got a problem as well.. WiFi doesn't connect automatically when I wake my MacBook from sleep. Really annoying!

Still have problem with ooVoo. Outgoing video callings unable to work. :( I had sent compliance report to ooVoo support. I hope to get new update for OS lion.

Bootchamp is toast, this is a utility used to one click into bootcamp windows copies

Wi-Fi is horrid, after sleep half the time it does not connect properly on the first try (no dns)

Using late 2010 MacBook Pro 15"

Upgraded to Lion, wish I hadn't.

Office 2004 for Mac doesn't work. An absolute pain as I'm writing a PhD!!

Got on the phone to Apple, informed that third-party Power PC software no longer works. So that will apply to much software.

I am going to downgrade to Snow Leopard. Requires a total wipe of my system and a total reinstall.

I'd rather lose Lion £20.99 to Apple than shell out for Office 2011.

Might be a silver lining, as Apple appear to be offering refunds for schmucks like me that didn't read the really really small print.

There is nothing on the main pages of their 'Lion' push to indicate that people will be left holding useless software

5-10 minutes spent on a google search would have answered this for you easily.
I have literally NO sympathy for people who do an OS upgrade without checking basic compatibility for their essential programs.
BTW it is now 2011 so just how long should Apple keep supporting a (pretty poor) office suite produced by one of their main competitors?
MS Office 2011 for Mac works great though...
I do expect some teething troubles with a .0 release of a new OS but so far it has been plain sailing.
I have had zero issues so far, but then I did do my homework before hitting "install"

I don't want to act like an ass but I agree. If you're someone who knows a bit about technology you should not be a bit surprised that Apple has finally dropped PowerPC support. When they moved to Intel, they already stated that they'll eventually drop PowerPC support. If you didn't get the hint then, surely you got it when Snow Leopard begin the Intel-only move.

If you're not familiar with technology, I have a bit of sympathy. You might not know the difference between PowerPC and Intel but you should, at the minimum, check to see if applications will be compatible with what you're upgrading to.

everyone who has issues thats not a real bug like the one I mentioned in one of my threads relating to firevault. should just do a clean install....create dvd, or usb boot from wipe the whole damn thing n start fresh... upgrades seldom ever work well.

I cant even download a version of lion from app store. it doesnt work even tho I paid for it guess where I had to find one from.. stupid apple... anyways I did it from scratch and I have no real issues.... I had a problem where the fan was going on non stop...and smc fan control when installed showed min fan speed was 4000rpm...

I did a opt comand p r restart... and a few hard retarts and all is well.

So try that and see what happens.

I dont see how he needs to shell out for anything if he uses his brain and looks around for a 'solution'.... pfffffffff

I'm having a problem with watching avi movies in quicktime. When i start watching i get about a second of sound and then nothing. If i jump to a different part of the movie it get about a second of sound and it cuts out again etc etc...
If i watch the same movie in VLC its fine!

Everytime Time Machine starts a backup and I open a disc image Finder freezes and turns unusable, if anyone could find a solution that would be amazing :D

1. Fan runs more, even after the initial spotlight indexing.

2. Office 2011 is pretty much completely broke when opening files from a SharePoint share if you want to edit. You can open read only, but when you click Edit they both crash, this might be the new Safari too.

3. More lag from wake up. It's a few more seconds from wake up than SL to get it responsive(2011 Air, 1.86, 4gb).

4. Safari opens to your set home page when it feels like it, and yes I've turned off App Restore.

5. Remote Desktop Connection from Office 2011 is even worse than it was before but CORD seems to work fine.

6. Outlook 2011 just acts odd...running Exchange will get the ding on my phone, get the corner notification on my Mac but then it doesn't show in the message list for another 5-60 seconds.

7. Apps just don't run. Clicking on a number of apps the icon will bounce and nothing happens for a while, sometimes it opens, sometimes I have to kill it.

8. Even though I have Connected Server's checked when I click on it when opening a file from my Windows 2008 R2 server Lion re-authenticates and mounts the same share twice, even though its already mounted. Both mounted shares, which are the same, show up on my desktop.

BTW this was a clean install. We updated my wife's 2010 27" iMac, I grabbed the DMG and made a boot USB.

My trackpad and keyboard are unresponsive for 1-2 seconds after waking from sleep. Nobody else has this issue??

Confirmed here also - very irritating. Longer delay to entering the password for login also, after clicking user....

Safari address bar doesn't load properly. It functions fine though. Only issue I've come across and I've installed it on 3 computers.
