Im useing early 2008 model, i installed osx lion. everything is fine and much faster then SL. but i have only problem, software update and mac app store is not connection with apple server. my internet connecting is good.

I installed lion last night. No problems at all, until today randomly Mission Control started to play up. It glitches/laggs/is slow, whatever you want to call it, and its driving me nuts! Every time I enter it, all my open windows lag whilst 'flying' into the mission control screen. Even switching through desktops with the two finger swipe on the magic mouse laggs. I don't know what I did, but I'm sure its Mission Control itself, as LaunchPad is still as smooth as silk when i swipe between pages.

I've done everything, repaired permissions, repaired the disk, executed everything from onyX, and even did a PRAM reset.

Someone help me, PLEASE D:

EDIT: Don't worry, I fixed it. I started experiencing the problem after I had installed Autodesk AutoCAD for Mac 2011. I uninstalled it and still had the problem. Its been 4 days, and I just reinstalled it to see if it was the cause. Turned out it was, and after the uninstall this time, my iMac is back to normal: Fast. No glitches with Mission Control or any other animations at all.

It seems like Lion is having its hiccups with third party software. But I guess that will always happen with new OS's.

This is how Mission Control looks on my MBP. Shame on Apple for killing Spaces and Exposé and replacing them with this poorly thought-out and buggy 'solution.'

2) iCal between my MBP and MBA just doesn't sync. Utter bollocks. I mean...
OK, for the record, I want to retract this one. I didn't realize when you add an event to the calendar it can either be set to 'On My Mac' or 'MobileMe'. The former obviously isn't meant to sync with anything, and my events were being added as that. I set the default to MobileMe in the prefs and everything syncs beautifully now (set to Push).

Where to even start....

Slow performance. Removed 3rd party apps, still slow. Memory upgrade helped, but only so much.

Mouse jumps into corners of the screen activating my screen saver.

Sound disappears - reboot solves this.

Lots of spinning beach balls.

iTunes won't play movies - reboot solves this.

Flash videos such as YouTube require that I reboot after playing or other things won't work.

Not happy with Lion, but really don't want to take a weekend to rebuild to SL. Hopefully 10.7.1 will resolve a lot of these issues. Looks like Lion needed another few months of development before being declared ready for release.

Magic Mouse constantly jumps to corners of the screen which is particularly irritating because I use hot corners for turning the monitor off, screen saver, and launch pad.

Same here. I had to finally turn off all the hot corners. Today I bought the Magic Trackpad and the problems seems to be gone away (knock knock…)

With regard to the design choices Apple themselves made, I share many of the same frustrations already expressed. Expose, Versions, Resume, etc... these changes make the OS less user-friendly, not more. Also the behavior change when closing the lid of my MBP w/ external monitor attached... I really liked simply closing the lid when I was done for the night which used to put the machine to sleep. Now it just shifts my main display to the external monitor and keeps running.

What's makes these changes more annoying is that they opted not to give the user control, to give them the option of sticking with what we're used to and what we prefer. Very, very incredibly frustrating.

In terms of third party, ESET Cybersecurity was updated to version 4.0.70.0 to fix problems with Lion; however, I'm still experiencing one issue. It's apparently not completely compatible with parental controls under Lion. Users with parental controls are unable to access the internet whether parental controls is configured for any content filtering or not. I'm only using the time limit functionality of parental controls, but ever since installing ESET Cybersecurity on the machine those managed accounts can't browse the web. Setting those accounts to "standard" instead of "managed" fixes the problem. Uninstalling Cybersecurity also fixes this problem, though I prefer to keep the AV on there. This problem is not present on a similarly configured Snow Leopard machine running Cybersecurity and Mac OS X parental controls.

The OS is not always recognizing my mouse clicks. It typically happens after scrolling around in a web page or finder window for a while, and then trying to click on a link or in a text field. It also happens after typing for some time, then clicking somewhere to edit the text (to move the cursor) often the cursor just stays put. I can replicate the problem in Safari, Chrome and the Finder, and it happens with my magic mouse and magic trackpad. It feels like the click response has gone to sleep. It happens randomly but frequently.

ETA: another way of think about it is as if the focus is no longer on the current window, and the first click is needed to return the focus, but I don't know what would be taking the focus away from the current window. There is no visual clue that this is what is happening, but this is similar to how it is behaving.

HDMI not working on Mac Mini mid 2010

Got my first mac last Saturday was a demo unit from mid 2010 so was good deal and did work great with snow leopard. Took about 3 days for Apple to authorize the lion dl for free cause of it being a demo unit needed to do it via the longer method for authorization.
Install went find till it rebooted itself at the end and since then the HDMI doesn't work to the tv. I am going to get a mdp - vga adapter and extra vga cable tomorrow likely and test that but from what I've seen poking around online this is a common issue with Lion at the moment... rather annoying considering the number of people whom have Mac Mini's as home theater options to tv's via HDMI...
(details of what happens when trying to turn on mac now is i get a grey loading screen then fuzz for about half a second then black screen till my tv starts complaining there's no signal. Doesn't matter which hdmi port, through the switch or not, tried resetting pram as some seemed to suggest that and tried various unplugging plugging in turning on orders)

Similar issues to those others have already reported but I want to get them off my chest. In order of most frequently occurring:

1. System freezes apart from an ineffective mouse pointer - have to power-off and reboot. Very frustrating and disappointing - not exactly a small bug. Seems more likely to happen if video/animation on screen.
2. Safari zooming-in for no reason and then can't zoom-out - have to quit Safari.
3. Minor graphical glitches e.g. first letter in the text of window title bar will flash white.
4. Mouse pointer jumps into a corner.
5. For app updates from iTunes, selecting 'download all updates' will download them, but some don't register as having been downloaded. Updating each app individually seems to avoid this problem.
6. Window (e.g. Finder) appears in a different position to that which it was closed in.
7. Sluggish switching between users (doesn't feel smooth).

I'm using a new iMac with no third party hardware or software installed.

Really hoping 10.7.1 fixes these :(

The Finder will randomly forget my "New Finder window shows" preference and revert to the user folder after reboots. I have to go into Finder Preferences every time and set it to my own folder. Anyone else have this problem?

Time Limits Broken in Lion 10.7 Parental Controls

Time Limits seem broken in Lion.

When a time limit is applied the remaining time depletes at about 3x of reality.

Also randomly the remaining time display garbage that looks like this:
0:-5

This is happening on an iMac running 10.7.1.

I also have a Macbook Air running 10.7.1 and this does not seem to be happening.

Sometimes some windows get stuck "between" desktops. By this I mean that they are only visible while swiping from one desktop to another, and not visible on any desktop. They appear only while swiping, from any desktop to any other, in the middle of the screen, not moving, floating in front of the desktop-changing animation. The only way I found to fix this was to quit the app and relaunch it. Imagine if you have unsaved data, then what?

Editing a video in quicktime is a pain in the a** compared to snow leopard.

I cannot trim (or cut) a video twice. I usually cut scenes that I like from videos using quicktime, which is really easy pressing cmd+t. Since its not too accurate I first cut a clip and then cut it again to make it accurate. Now this is not possible since when I press cut the second time the whole timeline of the video appears again!! Is this a bug? It makes no sense this new way.

Also, doing the export thing takes more time.

After installing the LION My new mac crashes OFTEN when i use Firefox. it didn't before. the new lion is horrible. complicated and pretentious and graphically overloaded. I hate it. wish i had my old mac but of course they cleverly made that obsolete. it was a graceful machine. the new iMac is not. lion treats my valuable time and schedule as tho it were a zebra, tearing it apart voraciously.

PLEASE APPLE FIX THE DAMN SMB ISSUES. I used to be able to browse my Windows computers without problems on SL. Now nothing works. Manual mount_smbfs works for my Windows XP computers but not my Windows 7 computer.

And seeing as my Windows 7 computer is my media hub with 5TB+ media on it, this is very frustrating for me.

I have to say that I should have read the forums before upgrading to Lion. I'm very disappointed.

I'm sure it's useful to post in this thread incase somebody can offer advice, but shouldn't 99% of these complaints be filed directly to Apple so they can get some constructive feedback?

http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

Well, I called AppleCare with my problem and after more than an hour and 2 experts, we got nowhere and I was told that the only option left was to re-install my OS???

10 minutes of searching these forums was more help.

PS: I'm sure someone at Apple checks this thread everyday.

I'm finding Photoshop unusable in Lion

My system becomes very sluggish, although my CPU usage doesn't spike. I'm not exactly sure why - it was fine in SL.

Honestly folks, that's what happens when you're an early adopter. There are always bugs 10.2 to 10.3, 10.3 to 10.4 and so on. Same here, so it's not really unexpected or a surprise - and I don't think the number of bugs in Lion is especially huge compared to previous transitions, like from Tiger to Leopard - I remember a lot more complaints back then.

That's why I'm holding off on adopting Lion on my late 2009 iMac. I'm happy with SL.

Really, I have not read anything that makes it seem like Lion is a MUST HAVE over Snow Leopard.

So, I'm holding off and waiting until it's safe to go in - probably around 10.7.5 or so.

Of course, I may be missing something... in which case, can somebody please tell me why is it important to upgrade to Lion from SL? What are the MUST HAVE advantages? I'm genuinely interested - thanks in advance!

Apple, hear me! In Mission Control, allow us to increase the magnification on the thumbnails lined up across the top of the page. After one creates several spaces, they become too small to let one see what's on the page. You can increase the magnification of your dock icons; you should be able to do the same for the Mission Control thumbnails, and for the same reason.

That's a good suggestion.
