The rMPB BTO Shipping Thread

Mine left Kazakhstan and arrived in Germany just a few moments ago. On its way to London, UK.
 
Mine is in memphis now, with am estimated date of thursday for south carolina. I'm pretty sure it will get here before that.
 
I just got off the phone with FedEx to inquire about the reason why the clearance issue came up, apparently something called a frequency declaration is missing and therefore the package cannot be imported until they Apple provides that for them, so nothings going to happen with it today since no one is there to make a phone call from customs, and there's probably nobody at Apple to handle it. Hard to believe these things ship all the time and they forget to leave paperwork? The FedEx rep indicated that my package was part of a larger shipment, which has to be broken down and then send out to individual cities, and then individual receivers, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who's getting this bad news unfortunately. It really is frustrating

My package through FedEx also says the same thing: Clearance delay.

I don't get what's going on though. Is it in TN the it's going back to Japan?!

Like I wrote about 4 posts up, customs has to contact Apple to get the clarification needed. Which means, customs has to be open to make the call and Apple has to be open to receive it. So I'm assuming this shipment is overnighting, at least, in Memphis...

The 2:00 thing in Japan is because the flight left at 2:00PM and then flew west, so it landed prior to departing. It actually landed and got held up in customs before it even left. If only Apple's paper-pushers were as industrious.

My 13" is also stuck with the clearance delay. Thanks for the explanation @jmelrose. Hopefully it can be cleared early tomorrow and sent on its way.

How did you get this information about the Clearance Delay to come up? I can't seem to get there on my page.

I am on the phone with Apple right now, in the off-chance someone there can at least get things moving a little faster.

It's just so stupid... of the literally millions of boxes they ship, how can they let a pallet of computers sit in Memphis.

Ok, off the phone. I was told, and I can't make this up, that the computer got to Memphis faster than expected, so the paperwork hasn't gotten there yet and it might take 24-48 hours for it to get there. He said that since I wasn't supposed to get the computer until October 30-Nov 1, the paperwork doesn't get to customs until just before that window opens. And, since it's days in advance ,they hold it at customs until the paperwork clears it to move on through the system.

After sharing a piece of my mind about the stupidity of such a policy, especially considering I could go buy a non-BTO model at the Apple Store right now, he apologized and finally offered to refund the cost of my superdrive. As a stockholder, I told them this was embarrassingly stupid as corporate policies go.

Looks like we all get to hang out on this thread a few days longer.

Took me a few days to realise Apple gave a UPS tracking number and the link to the tracking info they gave wasn't with UPS. Mine's in Koeln, on it's way to the UK on Wednesday they reckon, hopefully it'll beat that.

Hm... I still don't have any status from Cologne. It might have been an earlier flight.

Mine still says delivery Tuesday even though it's at the local sort facility. I put in a hold request on the hope that I can pick it up tomorrow.
 
Looks like the fedex shipments that got routed from China to Alaska to Memphis don't have the clearance issue problem.

Girlfriend's rMBP just left Memphis about an hour ago
 
Mine's coming to DC with an estimated delivery on Thursday, but it just left Memphis an hour ago. Seems like tomorrow is in the cards.

Should land at Dulles in just over an hour.

Anyone know if shipments going from Memphis to DC are flown or driven? That might make the difference between whether it's delivered tomorrow or not.

Mine's also coming to DC area. It just left Memphis at 3:26PM, that happens to match the KMEM to KIAD flight to Dulles (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX769). It should arrive to Dulles around 6pm EST and hopefully be out for delivery tomorrow... FedEx still says 10/30 delivery, so we'll see.

Mine's supposed to come with expedited shipping, but I don't think it makes any difference.

Keeping fingers crossed...

I was just chuckling at this post and decided to take a look as mine is also routed through Memphis.

DELAY?!?!?!

I hope I get it by Thursday.

Yeah, we're on the same flight. Here's hoping they don't hold off delivering them until our delivery estimates.
