On the far-right, that might be correct. The issue, however, is that the so called center left are celebrating and justifying assassinations.
That's nonsense. First, the mainstream right is the far right. Second, mainstream Democrats have come out against the murder of Charlie Kirk.

The logic is, everyone they disagree with is a ’Nazi’, therefore it’s ok. This ‘everyone is a Nazi so killing them is fine’ rhetoric doesn’t exist on the mainstream right. Mainstream right thinks leftists are ‘loony’ not ‘evil’.
You're misinformed. The leader of the Republican party has called the left vermin, evil, and enemies from within, and said that he hates them. To pretend that's not the mainstream right is disingenuous.

The vast majority of it does and this is a fact. The show is realistic. Also what happened to the First Amendment?

Considering cancelling my recent large order over this.
Nobody told Apple to do this. It’s also not unheard of to delay release or modify content after some big proximate news story.

The film adaptation of “The Sum of All Fears” swapped the Islamic terrorists with neo Nazis after 9/11 because they were afraid of stoking Islamophobia.

Lilo and Stitch had a scene changed that featured a plane flying through a cityscape.

Steven King requested “Rage” go out of print because he felt it was inspiring school shooters.

Many such cases.

There aren't any First Amendment issues if Apple chose to pause this of its own accord.

It's certainly cowardly.
You're absolutely right. However, I would add that the qualification that IF it's based of fear of retribution by the administration, then it's still a first amendment issue. Even if the threat is not explicit.

No one told Apple not to release this. Apple is controversy averse.

Season 3 of Tehran still hasn't been released on ATV+ because of the 2023 attacks in Israel, and Season 4 is being re-written not to step on toes (I'd also point out Apple doesn't have full creative control on the series either).
Season 3 of Tehran has already aired on a local network in Israel so I don’t know why Apple is still waiting around.

June 2025 assassination of the Minnesota state legislator Melissa Hortman and her husband in their home.

(Politically motivated violence has been a tracked and known thing for decades .. it's exceptionally easy data to find if you're honestly looking for it.)
The assassin claimed to be trained by the US military and ordered by Tim Walz to commit those murders. His political alignment was “clinically insane.” Like the Giffords shooter who was upset about the government’s grammar-based mind-control program.

The phrase “lies, damn lies, and statistics” came about for a reason. Manipulated data on political violence abounds.

Ah, the mainstream right are the ‘far-right’. In other words, they are Nazis. That was my point. This sort of extreme demonisation is now normalised on the ‘mainstream’ left. The implications of such rhetoric are clear.

Sure, Trump paints his opponents as enemies during the campaign, as do Democrats - Russian asset, Nazi, Hitler, racist, sexist, etc etc.

But, because the liberal left are unable to detox the extreme elements because of fears of being labelled racist, sexist transphobe etc, a very particular extremism has emerged on the left that has no equal on the right.

No, not Nazis. That’s you taking what I said to an extreme. (Ironically, you’re doing the thing you claim to be against.) The political spectrum isn’t just republicans on one side and democrats on the other. It has actual meaning. Currently, the Republican Party is on the far right, while the Democrats are center to center right. The Progressive wing is considered left (not far left despite how they are panted.)

Bothsidesism isn’t an argument. If you call me vermin, but I call you racist because you do racist things, you’re implying that those are somehow equal. And of course, equating what the president says to a random democrat is also a fallacy.

He shot DETAINEES?

If only there was something that connected most of these killings.

Say, some kind of specific tool that seems to give weak people outsize power.

If ONLY we could connect this violence somehow.

He hit detainees, but the most obvious explanation is that he was aiming for the driver and other ICE agent in the front seats, and hit the detainees because it's difficult to hit a moving target precisely.

Interesting. So someone shoots someone for political reasons, and the outrage here is that Apple said they just want to delay the release? I can 1000% guarantee you that if it was someone on the left who'd been assassinated that all of you dogging Apple for pulling it would be praising them for being understanding during this sensitive time and how it makes sense during the current political climate.

Apple is damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they release it now, they are capitalizing on tragedy. If they cancel it they are spineless.

In the grand scheme of things I think delaying (but not cancelling) is the prudent move. The stories of extremism and the law enforcement who protect us deserves to be told and is highly relevant. But I don't think there's harm in pushing it back a few months until it's not SO relevant.

The problem is the if you watch the trailer, the move seems to be portraying false stereotype that Democrats have been pushing for decades. To the point here during the Biden administration, FBI whistleblowers came forward saying the FBI was being forced to find more and make it look like there are far more white supremacy cases out there than there really are.

If you notice, in the trailer the hero is the mother of a mixed family. And everyone in the bad guy group is an overweight, middle aged, white male.

It really depends on what’s in the movie, All we’ve seen is the trailer.

But it’s entirely possible this move is so bad that is shouldn’t be released to preserve the name of the companies involved.

I’m hopeful that people might soon stop thinking in terms of right vs left, and focus instead on extreme vs normal. There’s been far too much extremity this past 10 years. Calm rational folk rarely get heard over the noise.
Thomas Sowell had a better way when wrote his book A Conflict of Visions nearly 40 years and few people have even heard of him. He uses constrained and unconstrained to describe the two sides and it works really well. Each side is constrained and unconstrained in different areas and your underlying worldview affects those.

The leaders of the Democratic Party have been pretty quiet about the murder of Kirk. I had to go an look up whether or not they denounced the attack. Thankfully, they had.

Because when there’s been obviously violence, mainstream Democrats have not always condemned those responsible:

And Trump occasionally making derogatory comments about the left is nothing compared to what Democrats do to the right,

Sticking with the Kimmel controversy, making the news is lies that the FCC pressured ABC into firing Kimmel’s when all that happened is the FCC Chair went on a podcast and was asked what the options are for handling Kilmer, the FCC Chair started calmly trying to remember and list the options. That’s all there was to all this nonsense that the FCC “threatened” ABC.

And Trump has never done a full scripted speech, having military in the background (which breaks with American presidemtial tradition of not having military present for political soeeches) demonizing the Democrats. Democrats take this **** much further than Trump does. Trump simply dishes some back of the hail storm of demonization he and his followers take.

Why does Apple feel the need to involve itself in these debates? This started when Apple chose to change the gun emoji to a water gun.

Remain neutral and release it. Some people will like it and others won't.

If they release a movie pushing a political party’s false propaganda narrative, they’re not remaining neutral.

When you say even if the threat is not explicit, you mean like if one political party makes so many false claims about another party being Hitler, and people are gullible enough to buy into it, then it’s still a 1st amendment issue?

It’s hard to have a reasonable discussion when you are willing to make up facts to fit your argument.

Show isn’t even controversial. Most police procedurals feature cults, gangs, KKK etc and take them out. Broadcasters now living in fear and making fear based decision making.

Timing is perfect for the show too. No way this would have been shelved under any other right or left administration.

Anyone that supports this sort of climate needs to look fascism up in the dictionary and take a long hard look at themselves.

What Democrats are calling “a threat” is the FCC Chair went in a podcast and was asked what the options are for dealing with shows like Kimmel. The FCC Chair calmly started trying to remember and listing what the options are, it wasn’t a threat. Democrats are just so used to dominating traditional media they know they can get away with calling it one and having a bunch of people believe them. It’s just anither Democrat propaganda hoax that the FCC Chair threatened ABC.

And Kimmel’s was back on the air six days later to show you how little of pushing around the FCC was actually doing to ABC.

Yep, my virgin years and eyes can’t handle a drama about somebody who infiltrates hate groups. We know that organized domestic terrorism is generally a fringe right-wing thing here in the USA and it’s not exactly a new phenomenon.

See January 6th, Charleston, The Oklahoma City bombing back in the 90’s while Clinton was in office, etc.

That’s not to say there aren’t hate groups on the left but in terms of quantity and the number of actual attacks, it’s not even close.

So IMO this is Tim Cook further kissing the ring and not wanting to release a work of fiction that no doubt depicts some right wing hate groups due the facts about what’s been going on since the 90’s, just to avoid ticking off the clown who presently occupies the Oval Office, his cronies in this increasingly authoritarian regime and the merry bunch of fools who get their “news” from dressed up right-wing entertainment companies like Fox News, etc. who aren’t interested in reporting on the truth, just in stirring up controversy among the mindless masses who refuse to pickup and read a few history books.

But I digress.

OK? And before that a right-wing radical assassinated a Democratic lawmaker and her husband (and her dog). The fact is the vast majority of political violence in this country is committed by right-wing extremists.

You guys are listening to far too much Democrat propaganda to believe this nonsense.

Jan 6 was one riot that lasted 3 hours and never happened again. Left wing violence such as Stop Cop City, the 2020 Antifa/BLM riots would happen night after night after night, with Democrat leaders being slow to respond to them.

It took Nuden months to denounce Amtifa. He never did denounce BLM for their participation in the riots.

If you just want to show up for a protest, thst’s fine, but at some point, when you show up night after night, and it keeps turning into a riot, you’ve got to take some responsibility.

It’s hard to have a reasonable discussion when you are willing to make up facts to fit your argument.

If there are made up facts, the thing to do in a reasonable discussion would be to list the made up facts.

The thing not to do would be to just accuse someone of making things up and not even bother to tell them what you think is made up.

Alleged. And y'all turned some annoying podcaster picking on college kids into a deity and got pissed when not everyone else saw him that way—while many on the right were calling for another civil war.
You are listening to far too much Democrat propaganda. You should not be going to Democrat media and letting them tell you what the right is like.

Most of the talk I heard on the right was, “notice Kirk got murdered and there were no riots? No violence?”

You tell me. Why weren’t there any riots on the right when Charlie Kirk was murdered? Why wasn’t the response more like when George Floyd was killed?

Why? It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. It's just a distraction. Your own sources don't agree with what you said.

He said “we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” which is literally the textbook example of a threat. So blindingly obviously that even Ted Cruz was forced to admit it.
