The Sony Playstation 4 PS4 Launch Thread

So I finally found a PS4 today, well my aunt did. She got it at Costcos, with a 2nd controller and the Plus 12 month membership. My question is, I live in Greece, so will I be able to use the Plus membership here? I read somewhere that I would have to create a user with a US address in order to do so. Is that true? I read here that I can do that, and use my European account with a Plus membership from here, and be able to download games from both the States account, and the European account.

I got the PS4, second controller, the 12 month membership, the camera, and COD. I went with COD because I play a lot of split screen with my friend here, both online and offline. Im going to wait and see what I want to go with next. I like 2k14, but I get a bit bored with it after a while. Ill probably go with something like AC4 for the time being.

I assume you meant having both:
1. PSN US account with PS+
2. PSN EU account with PS+

If so… yes you can.

Can you use US account on EU? Sure you can… check my location.. I have an US account (no colombian store and I no longer care if they open one up in the future).
Only thing I cannot do is redeem my PS4 free PS+ voucher because I required an US-issued credit card. Neither that nor adding funds to my wallet via credit card / Paypal.
All I can use is prepay cards.
So should be the same for yours if you decide to keep the US account (unless you aunt lends you her credit card and stuff).
By the way you could just use your aunt's address for registration instead of a fake one :p
 
I've been playing the hell out of Warframe again. I'm in love with Contrast as well, I got Lego Marvel as well as Killzone. I got the AC4 upgrade for free (due to the $10 credit packaged with the console), and I have a buttload of preordered stuff.

I'll be honest, I'm glad stuff like Watch Dogs got postponed, because that'll give me more time to play the stuff I got via SteamSale and a couple Humble Bundles. -.-

I was going to use my Aunt's address for the US account, and my mom's bank card, since its with Bank of America, and goes to that address. So im going to use the code for the US one with the newly made US account, and just buy one here in Greece, and add it to my current EU account, correct?

Correct, that should work just fine.

you can also sell the PS+ card on eBay
 
Just got Assassins Creed for the PS4 for £27.98. The PS3 version is available for £19.99 (£17.99 PS+) on the 12 days of Christmas deal. Buy that then upgrade to the PS4 version for £9.99. Was toying at getting this game for ages but this swung it. Saves getting it for £48. :)

Nope. Your £40 and my $59 are safe. It's a free multiplayer trial for the week(end), that's all, not the full game.

It will be a while before a "AAA" title for PS4 gets released to us PS+ (and judging by the lack of games we'll probably buy it prior to that anyway :D)

Oh, my mistake, I thought it was the full version! I must say I didn't see anything that said it was a trial, cheeky Sony! :cool: :D

Well as reference and not saying you don't already know about it, I use this link to check the current free offerings for PS+ (Instant Game Collection + Killzone Trial) and the official blog.
Of course I know you are EU based so I don't know the "CID" for the EU store, just the official blog EU.
 
Question...I wont have my ps4 probably until around the 2nd week in January. I have a ps+ code that I got here in Greece. Can I activate it with my Vita? And if so, does that automatically show when I enter my ID on the PS4?

Yes you can and yes once you log into PSN via the PS4 you will already be shown as PS+, since it's 1 subscription for them all (PS3, PS4, Vita).
In short once you activate PS+ your profile is PS+ so no matter where you login from (PS3, PS4, VITA, SEN Website) you will be already a PS+ member.

Have in mind tho', if you planned PS+ for the PS4 and don't really care for the Vita that much, AND you're short on cash and don't know if you will renew… then better wait until the PS4 arrives so that you will have that extra month (as of now) that goes up to "2nd week January 2015" instead of "December 20-something 2014". Assuming you got 1-year subscription of course. 3 month-subscription and unsure about renewal would be even more critical.

That is what Im going to end up doing. I just thought to activate the membership since I have the Vita just sitting around here. My aunt received the PS4 today, and she opened it, and plugged it into the TV, just to makes sure I didnt get a dud. Everything seems to work fine, now all I have to do is wait until the 2nd week of January probably, for it to get here.

So I saw on the back of the COD box, that it needs 49GBs of space, does it download that 49gb from the disc itself, or off a server somewhere? That is crazy that one game is taking up nearly 10% of the PS4s HD.

So that'll be a long wait then.
It will gobble 'em from the disk itself. Same deal with Killzone, haven't checked throughly but that thing is taking like 40 GBs off my harddrive as well. Didn't even felt them when the copy was done so I guess "kudos" to the PS team for making it happen without me noticing.
 
Wait, even the retail disc-based games take that much space on the hard drive?

In that case, 500GB really won't get us very far...
 
I'm going to get a 1TB hybrid drive for my PS4 in the New Year if the price of SSDs doesn't drop dramatically. I'm starting to run out already with 6 games.
