I'm so happy with the noise reduction with the PS5. My PS5 is sitting under my PS4 in my entertainment center. I know it makes noise but I can't even hear it. So many times I would think "What is that thing doing?" when my PS4 sounded like a jet taking off.

It's like sorcery isn't it. I play with headphones and am always surprised by how silent the room is when I take them off.

Unfortunately silence of the Series X has made me more sensetive to sound from gadgets.

Now by work laptop sounds loud as a kitchen extractor fan when watching youtube and the disc drive in the Series X is as audible as a printer. :D

I have only used my disc drive to watch a movie.

What's the noise like when you are playing a disc based game? Is the disc drive audible throughout gameplay or is it just used like a licence key at the start and goes quiet?

Intermittently the drive will spin up, but for the most part once the game is going the drive does spin down. It is just loud when it decides to check the drive.

Did anyone notice the PS Plus Collection game look any different?

I downloaded a few. I already basically maxed out my SSD

Games download and install insanely quickly on the PS4

I played Fallout 4 on the XBOX X and looks incredible. Haven't tried it yet because I don't have space on my SSD to download it. It is on my PS4 Pro
PS4-games can be installed on an external USB-drive, might want to invest. Somewhere in the settings you can then change the option that PS4-games always get installed on the external drive. I just move the PS4 game(s) that I'm actively playing to the SSD. The rest is waiting or archived on the external drive.

Oooooh I'm glad I didn't get around to these yet either.

"The two most recent games in the Tomb Raider franchise—Shadow and Rise—have been impressive graphical showcases for this generation, but the aging PS4 just couldn’t quite keep up. The 4K mode was (and is) locked to 30 frames per second, while the 1080p High Frame Rate mode couldn’t quite get to 60 frames per second in all areas. Thankfully, the PS5 gives these games enough horsepower to work with, giving both a stable 60 frames per second in that still-beautiful 1080p mode."

Finished the three tomb raiders, games really loved them and they get better each iteration. I sure hope the rumors are right saying there's a 4th one in development...

I'm finishing up Ghost of Tsushima and it is so great with the boost.

I got that one too

the videos of it running at 60fps look stunning on the ps5

My BF week backlog is massive, on top of having MM Ultimate (with Spiderman Remaster), Sackboy, and Demon Souls (sweet talked my way into B2G1 qualifying for that at Target, used Redcard too)

Of PS4, I scooped:
Doom Eternal ($10 used with CAG16 coupon and $5 monthly coupon), Ghosts (as mentioned, $20 PM with Walmart), TLOU2 ($16 used after $10 GameStop coupon + CAG16 coupon), RE3 ($15), and RDR2 ($20). Net like $84 after tax for 5 prime PS4 games lol.

I ran through Crash 4 and flipped it, great challenging platformer but probably not interested in touching it again for a while since I went at it hard for like 2-3 days.

I already played through Miles Morales twice to get the platinum. So much fun. Best launch title since Resistance on PS3 IMO.

I like to think that I have acute hearing, and I don’t think mine is nearly as loud as you’re making it seem. But then again, I.e-depends on the load, how far your PS5 is away from where you’re sitting, TV volume, is your PS5 mounted more towards the ground level or elevated on a platform like a coffee table.

I don’t want to make myself paranoid, but I’ll definitely pay more close attention.

I have mine sitting horizontal. Not sure if it is better in the vertical position.

Mine is horizontal also. I know what you’re talking about. The disc drive revs up for a few seconds and then goes away. It’s still quieter than my PS4 was but it’s noticeable.

I was finally able to get my hands on one. I’ve been loving Miles Morales. I’ll probably go back and play the remastered 2018 game too. The fan is pretty quiet but man is it loud when the disc drive spins up 😂

I'm enjoying Miles Morales, Fortnite (way better than the Switch version!) and Astro Bot is a delight.

Trying to sell Demon's Souls since that was in my pre-order bundle and I'm not going to attempt it.

I just bought an external drive and I had no idea that the USB type-A port on the front was slower than the ones in the back.

I finished up the main story for Miles Morales last night. It was really really good. And I've gone back to the controller demo part of Astro Bot a bunch of times. The haptics and adaptive triggers are so cool to experience.

haha I agree love Astro boy so much fun. They need to do a legit game can be the Sony Mario.

I bought demon souls for $35 since a ton of people got hustled by GameStop.

So PS5 games
Fifa 21 - gets upgraded on friday
Spidey - Miles (reg version not the one with the 1st game)
Call of Duty was $50 a walmart
Demon souls (not sure if I'll play just seemed like a great deal)
Astro
that free bug game..... with PS Plus

X-mas
Assassins Creed
Cyberpunk 2077 :)

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is a game for PSVR and is top-notch. All the charm of Astro's Playroom with some really immersive VR gameplay elements, impressive sense of scale, etc.

I don’t know if I’m ready for VR. How does that work with glasses? 3D movies make me want to vomit
