I'm curious, how is the OS horrible?the people in charge of sony are doing horrible job,, from the marketing to running the OS software, only thing carrying it are the games imo.
How so? Please provide a bit more details as to why you think they're doing a horrible job?sony are doing horrible job

I can't quite see where you're coming from on marketing. You don't need to market the hardware directly, if you can market the software, as that is what drives hardware sales. From Spider-man to Starfield, put out great games, people will buy your console to play them. I mean, that's why we don't even see Xbox console adverts anymore.

Sega's problem was they came out with a scattershot of hardware (32x, Saturn, Dreamcast) in a short amount of time. Sega also misjudged 3D taking off so the first two didn't do it as easily as the Playstation. The Dreamcast not supporting DVD didn't help either.Agreed, but there are allot of factors in a console being successful, consumer loyalty, companies understanding the customer wants, and absolutely selling more good software, which ultimately sells more consoles.
History shows this with sega consoles losing out, simply due to lack of support from main stream, and Sega dropping support, and upsetting the consumer. In terms of software, same goes for gamecube, n64, 3dO, etc. All while grate consoles in their own right and had an ok catalogue of games (some more then others and i own them all and love them), they ultimately did not have enough good titles, and lost out to main stream appeal because of it in comparison to Sony. Just look at total title releases in comparison.
Just some examples, and there are allot more from others who can probably articulate this better then me:
Sega Saturn did not get any other Resident evil games beyond re1, they did get arcade perfect capcom fighting games, while playstation got Resident evil 1, 2 and 3 and arguably where the further reaching titles, with the fighting games being more of a niche.
It could be argued that the Sega Saturn was far more powerful, but no one could program well enough for it until after Sega dumped it for the dreamcast. Last bronx, Panza dragoon saga and deep fear are good examples of the hardware being used properly, and can be compared to psone, but look at when they where released, after the dreamcast was announced, with the famous “the Saturn is not our future” meeting..
This problem was also echoed in the PS3, which did ok, but again Metal gear solid 4 is probably one of the best examples of the hardware being used properly, compared to other titles, which could not or would not learn how to, as the ROI was faster with xbox. As a result games more often played better on the 360, resulting in the 360 arguably winning out that generation.
But then Microsoft got a big head and tried to licence each physical disk, needing an always on connection, so ps4 for the win then.
I think ps5 and xbox are playing it pretty close, i have both and love them, but we are now moving more and more in to the streaming market, which will continue to make game preservation a problem.
Just so many titles disappearing, as these online stores (PSN for psp, Nintendo online shops) continue to fade, with the titles on their also disappearing.
The Os can be clunky at times, but i think thats more to do with the data analytics , advertising running in background. Part of this may have something to do with the set up for the person. Not sure what SSD you may be running, or what the internet connection is like, as these can be factors to how well the OS may be running.
That's not what hurt Sega's Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was way ahead of it's time especially with online play. They had an amazing first party lineup.Sega's problem was they came out with a scattershot of hardware (32x, Saturn, Dreamcast) in a short amount of time. Don't hate on the GD-ROM, lol. Yeah those things didn't help at all either. That's not what hurt Sega's Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was way ahead of it's time especially with online play. They had an amazing first party lineup.
There were two things killed off the Dreamcast:
1) Their antagonistic approach with EA. They clearly said they did not need EA and were all in on 2K Sports. At the time EA pulled it's weight so much so that Microsoft gave in to EA by pulling all its sports title just to get EA Sports games on the original XBOX. That's how powerful EA was back then.
2) The choice of using CD's along with WinCE as the OS allowed for easy piracy.
I think the Xbox leak is why I'm so frustrated with MS as of late. I get that they want to reduce hardware costs, but moving to a streaming only model just isn't it. There are whole swathes of the world, let alone the US, that doesn't have the infrastructure to allow for streaming media, let alone games.Don't hate on the GD-ROM, lol. Yeah those things didn't help at all either.
Sometimes I wish they would get back into the hardware game.
If the Xbox leak is true Sony (from a hardware perspective) doesn't seem to have much to worry about.
It was an easy layup for Sony the first time MS tried the always online thing. I figure it will be another easy layup, lol.I think the Xbox leak is why I'm so frustrated with MS as of late. I've not followed the leak too indepth. Is the xbox update that is a digital only console replacing the existing xbox or in addition too it? What I mean by that is, Sony offers a disk and diskless console, would this be similar?but moving to a streaming only model just isn't it
Reportedly it will replace the existing X so there would be no Xbox with a disc drive.I've not followed the leak too indepth. As for MS embracing streaming, its the future, I really do think game discs will go the way of the dodos and become extinct. Its only a matter of time
Basically, in the recent leak they're planning a diskless only console. Previously, when launching the XBOne, they went over their future plans, which included an AppleTV style, streaming only system.I've not followed the leak too indepth. That's unfortunate. I own a Xbox, but I found for me, and my play style. the PS5 is a better console. I still have my Xbox sitting in a corner. Maybe I'll keep that instead of giving it away, just in case I change my mindReportedly it will replace the existing X so there would be no Xbox with a disc drive.
So you're saying that this box isn't just a diskless xbox, but rather it will be a game streaming service? Oh I would hate that very muchPart of Azure's backbone will allow a remote play style stream. So the game runs on a remote server, with the player using the streaming box.
The leaked refresh of the XSX is discless. The leaked next-gen Xbox is hinted at incorporating cloud elements. It would be hybrid. They talked about doing similar things with the Xbox One and Azure and that didn't really pan out then. That's unfortunate. What the hell is Baby Steps?? Watched the State of Play last night, half asleep and without sound...did I miss something? It looked so weird and...not very good at all? Such a strange way to open that showcase...
I don't know what to think? Really odd.
The problem is as we have seen with Apple is that the Big Dogs decide when to push the industry forward. Apple has done that several times in the past with 3.5" floppy disk, USB ports, built in CD/ROM drives and now going all in on eSim with their iPhone's.I think the Xbox leak is why I'm so frustrated with MS as of late.
