I don't think you understand the definition of thief. What property is Ape stealing? If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Unless Apple forces you to buy the stand, they aren't stealing anything.
We all know that Apple Fanboy who will pay that price with a smile, not bat an eye, because it is justified, because they have to have THAT monitor.

I don’t think that ever happened. It’s pretty sad when your own applause-machine starts to go nuclear on you. Someone definitely overplayed his hand here. I also wonder if Apple will adjust the volume a bit for that part of the video they just released.
So true. The price is the price. I think we all knew it would be way up there. But just charge extra and include the stand.

This was such a bad idea with dreadful pricing and sadly will tarnish an otherwise strong WWDC.
For a company that takes media fallout so seriously, Apple really should’ve known better.

Whoever made the decision to announce a separate and optional $999 stand should be fired... Seriously... how hard would it have been to just announce a monitor price of 5999 including the stand and call it a day... NO ONE WOULD BE BALKING.... stupidity on display there at Apple...

Have you people never shopped for a counter-balanced display mount before? They're not cheap. We use Humanscale ones at work, and they're something like $400 each, and meh quality to be honest. The price of the Apple one is certainly high, but assuming it's actually very good and figuring in the Apple-tax, I don't actually think it's unreasonable.

Even so, to announce it as they did... man, that screenshot is going to make the rounds in the media. Such a terrible idea.
No most people who purchased a 5k lcd display in 2019 expect the stand to come with it........but you are right its our fault......We are not spending enough.........

Well, they delivered what the customers asked for. Now it’s the customer’s turn to open the wallet.
They probably got a ton of pro feedback that it should cost less without a stand, since a ton of pros will VESA mount it. But if that’s what you’re gonna do, sell it with the VESA mount included, then make the amazing pro stand extra. Personally I think it’s fugly anyhow.

Most people who purchased a 5k display in 2019 spent a lot less than $5,000. This 6k display here will be purchased by companies who won't use any cheap included stand anyway.
Would you have prefered they say the monitor costs $6000, but for $1000 less you can get it without the stand? Actually, from a marketing standpoint, that probably would have been smarter to do it that way.

Agreed. It's really does memify Apple's recent price issues. That is an unfortunate unforced error on Apple's part.
