6 episodes does not make a series?! I'm sure it used to be 12 episodes, whats going on?

Those guys have just the best job in the world, 6 episodes a year (+special), most of it filmed abroad, driving awesome cars, it dosn't get any better does it (if you overlook Hammonds near death experience!)?

They're back in October (according to Cap't slow on the Simon Mayo show the other day). probably with a series of 10 episodes (we got 10 last autumn)

"Some say, you saved our bacon."
"Others say I was bound and gagged in the locker room."

Best line of the series.

Do Clarkson or the rest even know who The Stig is?

It definatly is not Captin Slow, unless he lost a lot weight before getting in the Stig uniform! :p

Of course they do. They've worked with him on lots of projects - not just stig-stuff.

It's Ben Collins. He drove the Bowler Wildcat down a hill, drove the Merc for the parachute to land in, usually appears in their car-football games, and consulted on the Vampire car before Hammond went in it.

He was interviewed, in stig-atire - on Dutch TV, and having met and spoken to Ben Collin ( pre white-stig ) I can confirm that it's him from the voice alone.

The mystery is solved! :p

Additionally, other folks don the white helmet from time to time if it's a specialist vehicle that needs driving, or if the owner of the motor in question doesn't trust the Stig with it then he'll drive it himself wearing the costume.

Whats are they looking at on line?

Anyone know of a site that tracks what the guys are s******ing at on line when the camera switch's to a full shot of the hanger?

EDITED

er, whats wrong with the word s n i g g e r i n g???

unless it means something else in the States....

From the n to r and everything in between.

Is it just me or did you think that when Hammond knocked over the board, it was a bit planned don'tchya think ? :D

Yeah I agree with ditzy.. that has to be the best line this series!

I accidentally stumbled upon Top Gear one night after class while I was hanging out with a friend of mine. We were sitting around tired and looking for something to watch. I passed over BBC America and I an Aston Martin on the screen and couldn't help but stop to see what this show was all about. The rest is history, my friend and I watch the show religiously and can't wait for 'The States' to catch up to the broadcast in the UK.

Oh, and the US version of Top Gear will not only be a big joke but a HUGE flop. :)

Ahh, i see now.

Maybe altering the filters to let in perfectly acceptable words is in order methinks.

You should see the football thread when somebody wants to write something about Scun thorpe United (all one word see here)!

They are gonna have one big job putting everything back!

It looked very deliberate, as if they wanted to smash it up to replace it with something else next series.

The mystery is solved! :p

Thanks to the Health & Safety Executive listing him as a 'technical consultant' in the enquiry into Hammond's crash! I've deliberately tried to find out nothing about him or his career to keep him a mystery.

It's filmed somewhere down south filming usually takes place on the Wednesday before the show goes out, and starts at about 2pm. With any luck - and if Jeremy remembers what he's supposed to be saying - you'll be done by about 7pm.

And there is quite a queue for tickets - a couple of years if you believe some sources, but try your luck here

I wonder if there's any hope they'll get the Veyron out on the track this fall...I'm not sure it can beat the Gumpert and Ascari that currently top the board. There is also the SSC Ultimate Aero, with over 1000HP and holding the Guiness World Record for "Fastest Production Car" - though whether it's any good in the curvy bits is another matter.

I think it would... as has been said before, the TG track isn't especially demanding technically, so it'd probably top the board, of course it still wouldn't get anywhere near the Caparo T1's time... which is of course the rightful occupier of the top spot regardless of what Clarkson reckons. ;)

TBO, I think it won't.
The Veyron doens't look like a car that handles well enough, even for the not-so demanding TG test track. The straights are far too short for it to come to any kind of Enzo-challenging speed, and all the top-5 cars on the board handle like a racing car.
I hope they can prove me wrong, but the Veyron seems the perfect car for the Yanks.... super straight line speeds... but cornering..? Not so sure :D
