Been at work all day so only just able to get online. All Manchester stores are sold out. I want one on contract, will I be able to go to the store on launch day? Will they have some set aside for non reserves?

I'm sure they'll have a few non-reserved phones in stock. I've reserved a contract 16gb one at the Arndale store myself.

Is an instore upgrade (or even an online upgrade) usually subject to a credit check? Have a slight worry as I've been living at my current address for just under a year and a half.

Last thing I wan't when I go to pick up is to be refused!

I know the stories of 'my friends uncle's dog works for xyz' surface at times like this, but my friend is a manager in an Orange retail store and has informed me of the tariffs for the iPhone 4 which were posted on the company intranet last night (which have now been removed).

Apparently number of minutes, texts and data of 750mb will remain the same against current monthly prices.

The two he specifically mentioned were:

£35 p/month 24 month - 600 mins, unlimited texts, 750mb data, WiFi (iPhone 4 16GB = £110)

£45 p/month 24 month - 1200 mins, unlimited texts, 750mb data, WiFi (iPhone 4 16GB = £29)

I'm not taking these as guaranteed myself so I wouldn't expect anybody else to, but thought I'd share with you all.

I cancelled the dock off the original order about 2 hours ago and the order updated immediately to show the 24th! then re-ordered the dock and the delivery for that is the 2nd July!

The dock shows on the original order as cancelled by Apple!

Thank you for replying. Actually i just received the cancelation email but there is nothing about the delivery date of the iPhone. The order status page still shows delivery date June 28. Its not a big deal but the whole point of cancelling the bumper was to get the iPhone on the 24th! Oh well, i still hope that its a system error and m getting it june 24 lol

sounds like the network operators. want people to send pictures by e-mail again.

Sound like that anything to do with taking up data they want to start charging for. Capping data and charging MMS but give us unlimited txts. They just want to exploit our wallets. Just when i thought contracts were getting competative and better priced, they decide to decrease allowances and keep prices the same.
Prob another scamming price fix that so many companies keep getting caught doing as all companies are following suit!

Im pretty sure if your an existing o2 customer and you have an upgrade they dont re - credit check you.

Was gutted when I noticed all London Apple stores sold out and Online Store showing as July delivery only now.

Luckily I managed to refresh and regent street became available. Just jumped on it but it's slow and wont confirm the reservation at the end. I'll have to keep trying.

I've opted for contact. I hope I pass the credit check (my credit rating isn't good). :p

I think I'm going to head off to T-Mobile/Orange (they're the same thing and shortly will be sharing masts as the UK's largest network).

On PAYG you can get 1GB/mo for 6 months for just £20. So that's £40 for a year's worth of mobile data, not bad at all. I wonder if Orange can beat this.

Just tried cutting down some old sim cards and putting them into my iPad. Piece of pi$$. All you need is a pair of scissors.

Its just about trimming the edges off and making sure you put the sim in the right direction. Normally I'm useless with anything DIY but this was really child's play

I'll do em for a fiver come the 24th :D

on the o2 store...

'Just a minute...

A high number of customers are visiting our online shop at the moment.
Please wait a short while and you’ll be able to continue shopping shortly.'

Taking ages to get on... Something might be happening?

i'm hoping that on 24/6 they will have white units at the store to look at. if i like white, i won't go through with my reservation (16gb black) and will hang-on. last thing i want is to keep looking at greasy finger-prints on black, with the knowledge i may have preferred white.

the apple store says shipping by 2nd July now for 16 and 32GB. [sorry if already mentioned]. :(

Oh noooo, i don't have conformation through yet but it definatly said 24th when i ordered around an hour and half ago. Hope it don't change between now and my conformation email or won't be an happy bunny as ended up getting Black one now....fingers crossed

Biggest iPhone (even phone) launch ever?

the hype surrounding this thing is incredible.

i cant wait to see the sales numbers, i reckon it will outsell the iPad by a very significant margin.

Yeah this was my main concern too, but i look at the front only and don't really notice them on the front of my white 3G that is black at front. Though i do have a crystal cover over screen weather this helps or not not sure. Do prfer colour white and was orn but Apple helped me decide, least i don't get the contrast in colour now with the screen.

Check it on the order status page. It should be fine. Whatever date you see there should be the case! The email is just a confirmatiom amd will not change dates....

"Estimated Shipping: Delivers on June 24th"
Though does say estimate, fingers crossed it arrives around that time. Though girlfriends birthday that weekend so might not matter too much if arrives following Monday cos as soon as i unbox it prob won't wana put down :O)

Reserved my 16GB iPhone 4, then called Orange to get a micro-sim, and the woman said that they aren't doing that.
Or rather - that she has no idea what they are doing "until tomorrow"

That's annoying.

Especially after having to be on hold with them for about 40 minutes in total!

So... who knows. Anyone else in Cambridge? I'm not that impressed with Orange's network here OR in London, so willing to take any suggestions!

I asked this before but no reply: is there a network that can take advantage of the new phone's extra speedy internet connection?
