NOOOOOOOOO

I just checked on the orange store, and apparently delivery address has to be the same as the billing address... I wanted to ship it to my moms house cuz i'm not in england atm and won't be able to pick it up for some time :( who do orange use for shipping? and how long will the shipping company hold the phone? cuz I won't be able to pick it up until like the 23rd-25th of july

if you won't be around till a month after release, then why order it now? just wait till you get back?

or get someone at your billing address to sign for it and keep it safe till you get back?

Just wandering if this would be possible, please bear with me as I'm new here. Anyway,

would it be possible to buy the unlocked iPhone 4 from america for the cheaper price (around £200) and get it shipped over. Would it then work with the UK contracts, for example the O2 one. Is this possible? I do have family over in the states that can ship and organise it if possible.

So yeah, is it possible to take this method?

...contemplating a move to vodafone for their data roaming deals - £4.99 for 24mb - but does anyone know if that's charged each day? Have found contradictory statements in the vodafone website and now I'm confused!

I have virtually made up my mind to leave O2 for Vodafone and I'm also interested in data roaming deals because data abroad tends to be such a rip-off.

Anyone know what the best deal is in this regard?

Visual voicemail was the only thing tying me to o2 and I installed and trialled the HulloMail app last night and 'tis great. Problem solved!

This sounds really interesting. Can you elaborate a bit?

Not possible. The $200 one is tied to a 2 year contract with AT&T and the phone is also locked to that network so won't work here in the UK

I'm interested in this too, but as far as I understand it, you need to take out a two year AT&T contract (which would require a US address), which means you end up paying the same for the phone.

Not impressed at all the people on here telling everyone how they've ordered two phones, one to sell eBay at a tidy profit. Don't you realise that the people you're hoping to make this profit off are most likely going to be the poor people on this thread who weren't able to order/reserve one in time because you got in there first and ordered two?

Shame.

haha, I wanna order it now to make sure they aren't sold out when I get there so I don't have to wait for them to restock... it was hell getting the 3Gs, and that was a few months after release (I think two months)

I'm not sure that anyone will be there on the 24th... and even if they are... it's my uni housemates... who knows what condition the phone'll be in when I get there if they get a hold of it first :p

N'aaawww, damn it! Anyway, will there be lower prices for iPhones locked to networks? So for example, will one that's tied to O2 cost around £200? Or will we have to wait for these networks?

Reserved my 16Gb phone for collection at Apple store in Solihull late last night.

Looking again now they're saying they're unavailable, which is the same for B'ham Bullring store. Do you think the stock limit has been reached now for an initial batch or that they'll start becoming available again? Just wondered if I got one of the last ones? What won me over was Apple saying they can deal with O2 upgrades which means I don't have to deal with O2 directly!

Lol, that's just the way of the world... it's a shame they couldn't get there sooner, if someone can do that, then why not... and if the person buying it on ebay doesn't want to let the seller do this, then they can just wait for apple/the networks to restock (I'm not one of the ppl who did this by the way, but if it came down to it and I didn't wanna buy the phone with a contract, I would buy the ebay ones just to get it that bit sooner, haha)

Three previously said in their blog post that pre-order would be from 15th, now they are saying they are 'finalising availability' (see attached post and official update). This implies that it is Apple who have not confirmed allocation to Three...

http://blog.three.co.uk/2010/06/10/iphone-4-on-three/

That might be the technical term they are using... but it doesn't really mean anything to customers cuz they could just be trying to take the blame off of themselves... they may just be part of the whole not-tipping-their-hat-early thing

also, is it hat or hand, haha, I've forgotten the proper phrase :p

EDIT: also, just checked, and the site says that they're finalizing availability and pricing...

Frankly the whole UK carriers thing is just bizarre and shambolic.

All the big UK carriers stated at some point that they would take pre-orders from the 15th then retracted this.

It is not implausible that Apple have not confirmed allocations to each of them and therefore they don't want to start making promises to customers that they don't know if they can keep...

Get o2 uncapped data on iPhone 4?

Hi guys,

I currently have an iPhone 3g whose unlimited data o2 contract expired last month.

I avoided upgrading to a 3gs last month as I knew the iPhone 4 was coming soon. Obviously, like many on here, the announcement on data capping has left me scratching my head...

Will this method work:

1) Upgrade to 3gs before 24th.
2) Sell old 3g + new 3gs back via o2's recycle service after 24th (£173+£227)
3) Buy sim-free iPhone 4
4) Use sim cutter to convert old sim to micro-sim

Will this work??? It seems so simple I'm wondering if I've missed something obvious!!

Thanks!

Ok , you ready fof this. Rung Vodafone and spoke to a guy called Richard who told me they probably wont start taking preorders today and that it likeley to be tomorrow. Also couldn't guarantee that they would be availa
ble for the 24th June.

What a farce !

So true!

Reminds me very much of iPad cases and camera conection kit!!

I was lucky enough to get one and feel for anyone that hasn't yet, seeing the over inflated eBay prices for an apple fan is a bitter pill :(

Is anyone else beginning to think that apple has messed it up? Maybe this lack of carrier pre-ordering has something to do with the lack of availability of the white iphone.

If this came as a surprise to apple it could explain a thing or two.

Apple wants to see their phone from their Apple store or online for the "Apple experience" :apple:

Apple does not care about the carriers.

Only today will Apple tell each carrier how many iphones they will each get and only then can the carriers start with the preordering

hello all, if you are thinking about recycling your phone go to

http://www.comparephonerecyclers.co.uk/

they are a comparison site for phone recycling and compare 25 recycling companies, even O2. Customer reviews from who have used each company are there too!
eg

iPhone 3g 16Gb (mine) best price £205
iphone 3GS 32Gb best price £283

Well, It's 9AM, will carriers release the Infomation today?

nooooooooooooooooo, i have given up on waiting, just going to wait until they are out on the 24th, besides if i pre-order I won't be able to collect it until July and I would be having a hissy fit having to wait that long, up nice and early down to the o2 store next thursday for me
