I cut a Three sim for my iPad and there was no problem. I phoned Three asking for a micro sim and as there was a shortage at the time they suggested I cut it to size. An iPad sim has got a phone number, you need it to top up if it's PAYG. However it's been disabled from making voice calls and can only be used for data.

thanks thats very helpful.....i still feel its madness that we have to resort to it....but lets hope we wont have to! :)

Yes it will work. I just dug out a really old orange sim card from about 4 yrs ago. Took out a pair of scissors trimmed off the edges stuck it in my 3G iPad and got constant signal.

I too was skeptical at first but there is nothing to it.

Order some payg sims off Tmobile and just for good measure order some free micro sims for the 3G iPad from either o2 or '3' from their websites just so you know what size it actually looks like.

I'm with Tmobile and asked them if they could send me a micro sim and they didn't know what I was talking about. Hence the reason I'm taking matters into my own hands.

O2 Boys - listen up...

I'm going to order an O2 micro-sim from here: http://freesim.o2.co.uk/sKTLPi92 then keep in deactivated til the day before I get my new iPhone. Then I'll call O2 up, give them the two sim card numbers and ask them to move my contract to the micro-sim.

Thoughts?

Won't work, you can't transfer (sim swap) a contract sim to a Pre Pay sim + it is clearly stated that the iPad sims won't work in an iPhone (although technically they will obviously)

I think it should be fine... the diff between a payg and a contract sim is the info they have on their system... so if someone tells them to do a transfer, it should just be a matter of inputing into the system which sim his contract is now working from, and the reason the ipad sims won't work in an iphone is cuz they only have a data plan... no calling or sms or anything... it's JUST data... that's why an iphone sim will work in an ipad... so if he tells them to put his iphone data on that micro sim, it should work.

I said I THINK it should be fine cuz all that is just what I understand from the whole thing... and even if it's all technically possible, O2 might not allow some things...

Anyone here waiting forVoda/ O2 sites to be updated? Hoping they're done first thing this morning before I have to go to work otherwise can't see me getting much work done today!

I wonder if they'll let us oreorder even though it seems Apple have sold out of their launch day stock.

Hopefully they will have there own allotted numbers of iphones so that they will have some for pre-order as well as some in stores on launch day... or I will NOT be happy, haha

They had bloody better do. I am pre-registered for info with O2, Vodafone, Orange and Carphone Warehouse and bugger all info from all of them other than O2 saying you can buy them from the shops from the 24th.

Orange have also said that you can buy the phone in store on the 24th... as well as online and over the phone

It's because their tariffs will be ***** and it gives people less time to mull it over and decide that they don't want to sign up for them after all.

Sim free + O2 Simplicity looks the way forward for me.

a woman at vodaphone i spoke to yesterday said i would be able to order them today. though she did seem a bit mental

This is veering a bit off topic, for which I apologize, but am contemplating a move to vodafone for their data roaming deals - £4.99 for 24mb - but does anyone know if that's charged each day? Have found contradictory statements in the vodafone website and now I'm confused!

Visual voicemail was the only thing tying me to o2 and I installed and trialled the HulloMail app last night and 'tis great. Problem solved!

You'd be best speaking directly to Vodafone.

NOOOOOOOOO

I just checked on the orange store, and apparently delivery address has to be the same as the billing address... I wanted to ship it to my moms house cuz i'm not in england atm and won't be able to pick it up for some time :( who do orange use for shipping? and how long will the shipping company hold the phone? cuz I won't be able to pick it up until like the 23rd-25th of july
