I have been following this thread for days and have only just signed up! Everyone seems to know how things work so i was looking for a bit of advice.

I want to upgrade to iphone 4 on o2 so what is my chances of getting it soonish if i phone up first thing next thursday? Obviously i won't get it for launch day but i'm just wondering if i phone will i probably end up getting through and them be all out of iphone 4s? I'm thinking it might be hard to get through but it's my only option as i have to work next week so can't go to the shop :(

So after the pre ordering mayhem on the apple website I ended up with two orders that I was unaware were completed as it crashed before the end and one that I did complete that I never got a confirmation email for and never appeared in my orders list!

Tuesday lunchtime I canceled one of the orders in the list and called apple to see if there third actually had actually processed correctly and cancel that if it had. I was told I had only made two orders and one had already been canceled. I asked if any charge or pre charge had been made on my card and was told no not till around 5 days before the iphone ships.

Just called my credit card company and was told that three pending charges from apple for £499 had been made to my card and whilst one had been declined the other two still stand. Apparently i can't stop the second £499 going through until after its actually gone through and that I would have to make a dispute that could take a few weeks

Im wondering if the second charge is the canceled order and will be retracted in a day or so and the declined charge was my card company saying "hold on, something not right with these amounts". If not and the declined charge is the canceled order I'm left with a £499 charge for an order that doesn't exist in my order list

Anyone in the same boat or have any experience with this type of thing? How long does it normally take to get your money back?

Just ordered an iphone 4 through borderlinx instead of traveling to the UK :p, but I'm just wondering, the phone I ordered is unlocked as well right? the 499 one..?

From US? no it isn't, or if you used the UK Borderlinx address then yes. UK = Yes, US = No :)

I don't think these are actual "charges" as much as "holds" on your money. Ask the credit card company to drop the holds and within the next day or two you'll have access to your money back.

Updated the spreadsheet now to include Orange's PAYG prices.

To keep it easy and understandable, all the prices that are highlighted in red are prices that havent been confirmed yet but are based on either 3GS phone costs or on Leaked prices (Vodafone)

Ive also now categorised between the PAYG and the Pay Monthly contracts and put Giffgaff under the PAYG.

Enjoy!

Was you there for the 3G/S launch?

If so.

1. Was it busy?
2. How did you get in the building!?

I was there. Wasn't too busy about a dozen or so before me at 7:15am. I have photos that I posted in one of the iPad forums a month or so back. Apple were very nice with their people coming out and showing people the new 3GS while in the queue. Coffee was laid on along with cakes. Quite enjoyed it. Son and wife joining me this time around.

Whatever they are the person I spoke to said they couldn't remove or reject them until they'd gone through. Going to ring apple again in the morning and hopefully they can remove it as I don't have the money to pay out and wait for a claim to processed and the money refunded.

Like I said I'm hoping the declined charge isn't the order I canceled as this could get messy as the woman I spoke to at apple on tuesday assured me that only 2 orders had gone through.

Which would be me (the son)

I still think the cake is a lie. :D

Thank you.

It's worth noting in your spreadsheet that Giffgaff mobile internet expires in 14 days and is no longer included from the 30th June.

GIFFGAFF WEBSITE said:
You lucky giffgaff pioneers can even enjoy free UK mobile Internet up to the end of June 2010. After that date, mobile Internet will be charged at 50p a day (if you use less than 2.5MB/day you'll pay less than 50p and if you go over 30MB you'll be charged extra at 20p/MB).

No, what that actually refers to is those who have giffgaff as their provider but dont purchase any of the goodybags (bolt-on's). If you purchase either the £10, £15 or £35 goodybag, you will get Unlimited internet.

The free internet right now is just a general free thing for everyone and will expire at end of June unless you are buying the goodybags. :)

It The queue was probably 50+ by the time they let people in the store around 8am. I was told to use the entrance on the upper level opposite MacDonalds and ASDA as it would be the only one open at 7am.

Cheapest 30 day Sim Only deal with Web

I have concentrated on finding the cheapest SIM Only deal, with data included becuase that's what im mainly interested in

screenshot01j.png

GiffGaff is the cheapest and best deal by far if your just interested in getting your Data

I originally was about to get the £10 Tmobile deal as mentioned by someone here. but reading through forums I read that t-mobile cap the data speed on their standard tariffs including this one. In order to get high speed HSDPA you have to pay extra. I left T-Mobile a few years ago for their shady practices, and it seems they haven't changed.

The Virgin Mobile deal isnt too shabby with 200mins, if your a Virgin Media customer they may give you an even better deal.

The cheapest 30day sim only deals Orange & Voda offer start from £20...enough said

Im currently on O2 simplicity 10 with web bolt on, but it seems like O2 have pulled simplicity 30 day sims!

So anybody looking to buy a sim only iPhone4 and doesnt want PAYG, hope this helps you make your decision

And since there is no US iphone 4 for 499... yes... it will be unlocked

1 question though...

I got this with my confirmation mail:

"Right to Return

If for any reason you wish to return your products to us, please contact us on 0845 600 1683 within 14 calendar day remorse period of receiving your order. Full details of the right to return and any exceptions are set out in the terms and conditions found on the Apple Store web site http://store.apple.com/uk/help/salespolicies

An iPhone purchased at the Apple Online Store with the Pay & Go service from O2 can be used only with an O2 SIM. Should you choose to return your iPhone for any reason within 14 calendar day remorse period of receiving your order, and you have activated your iPhone, please read your contract with O2 for any refund you may be entitled on your credit.

An iPhone purchased at the Apple Online Store with the Pay as you go service from Orange can be used only with an Orange SIM. Should you choose to return your iPhone for any reason within 14 calendar day remorse period of receiving your order, and you have activated your iPhone, please read your contract with Orange for any refund you may be entitled on your credit."

Why do they even mention Pay & Go service? It's not even possible to order that from the store... am I right? All phones from UK applestore is SIM-FREE and unlocked?

£270 for the 32GB handset on the Orange 18 month contract at £40 per month.

Really can't see the value there. I refuse to take a longer contract as the battery will deteriorate before two years and I bet a few other niggles will have crept in by then as well.

Ridiculous pricing a la the iPad

Vodafone Tariffs are up...

They look the real deal to me. They look almost identical to o2 an orange... *cough* price fix anyone?

EDIT:Never mind, they were the 3gs....all of this iphone related pressure is making my mind melt...

I wanted to pay for an O2 PAYG phone with cash instore on the 24th, however Im reading that apple stores need to be paid with by credit or debit card, can anyone tell me if this is the same with o2 instore too?
