thank the lord!

i thought it was just their way of renaming the USB cable lol! ie one for the dock - which you have to buy and one for your computer :D

however it does seem like theyre scrimping each time a new release is out

2g - cleaning cloth, wall plug, dock

3g/s - wall plug

even so £25 for the plug and £25 for the dock... have to draw the line somewhere and didnt get the dock just out of spite because i thought i wasnt getting a wall plug :D now that i know it has one i still think its extortionate!

I want to get a contract with the iPhone 4, if I go on launch day in any O2 store or other carrier will they have them in or only some of them or should I queue up over night in Regent Street? Anyone knows from 3GS experience?

Quote from apples website:

In the box

* iPhone 4
* Stereo Headset with mic
* Dock Connector to USB Cable
* USB Power Adapter
* Documentation

USB Power Adapter - This isn't like the 3G Where you had 2 pieces for the power plug, its just a plug with a USB Port, i saw my friends i was LIKE OOHER

My 3Gs came with one of those.

That is an absolutely brilliant phone for a tenner. Not much bigger than a credit card and with a £10 ASDA PAYG sim you can afford to loose it on a night out rather than your nice expensive iPhone.

Indeed - I have a Nokia something-or-other (an old one with rubber keys and the first with a colour screen and polyphonic ringtones) from way back in 2003. I use that Paintballing/Airsofting or generally if I'm kicking around somewhere where it might get wet, bashed, scratched or otherwise abused!

ahhh sod it, thought i could hold out. just placed my order for a 32GB one :/ 5/6th July delivery :(

tight barstewards dont even give you a wall plug anymore...

They do:

"Your iPhone includes a USB Power Adaptor for charging directly through an electrical outlet. Purchase this additional adaptor to have a second charger for home or office." (this is the slimline wall plug to USB adaptor)

Quick question guys, when I go to pick up an iPhone from the Apple store on launch day, will I need to sign up for a contract on the spot or will I just be able to buy an iPhone an then just leave without signing up for a contract and then just stick my make shift Micro SIM in it?

So after the pre ordering mayhem on the apple website I ended up with two orders that I was unaware were completed as it crashed before the end and one that I did complete that I never got a confirmation email for and never appeared in my orders list!

Tuesday lunchtime I canceled one of the orders in the list and called apple to see if there third actually had actually processed correctly and cancel that if it had. I was told I had only made two orders and one had already been canceled. I asked if any charge or pre charge had been made on my card and was told no not till around 5 days before the iphone ships.

Just called my credit card company and was told that three pending charges from apple for £499 had been made to my card and whilst one had been declined the other two still stand. Apparently i can't stop the second £499 going through until after its actually gone through and that I would have to make a dispute that could take a few weeks :mad:

Im wondering if the second charge is the canceled order and will be retracted in a day or so and the declined charge was my card company saying "hold on, something not right with these amounts". If not and the declined charge is the canceled order I'm left with a £499 charge for an order that doesn't exist in my order list :mad:

Anyone in the same boat or have any experience with this type of thing? How long does it normally take to get your money back?

I've read this a couple of times.

From what I can tell, Apple have placed 'holds' on two lots of £499 - they're basically checking you have enough money in your account to cover the cost. What you will probably find is that in 2-3 working days, both lots of £499 will show up in your available funds without you doing anything.

When your phone ships the £499 will actually be taken.

Bit of a pain in the arse, but not half as bad as when (at launch) MobileMe customers who weren't supposed to be charged until after the 30-day trial period were charged straight away for not one, but TWO lots of £60.

Got an extra 60-days MobileMe free because of that. :)

There are still conflicting reports but I've spoken to O2 and the Apple Store and it would appear that you can do everything in the Apple Store that you would do in an O2 store, e.g. Sign-Up for contracts, upgrade, buy PAYG and swap existing contracts to micro-sims.

Thanks for the reply, all I want to do is just walk in, hand the person my money and then walk out, I don't want another contract, I just want it unlocked and on pay and go, if they are able to give me a new Micro SIM to replace my current large SIM then that will be a bonus, if not then I'll take too it with a pair of scissors :)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much. I'll say this: IF you can get your hands on an iPhone on June 24th, you'll get it working on the tariff you want. The question mark is whether we will actually get our iPhones.

I have little faith that the reserve & pick-up system will work. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

how accurate are the delivery estimates?

when i ordered it said delivery on 5 or 6th july. im hoping it will be before then though. what are the chances? :p

i know, sum1 pointed it out a few posts below mine. looks like its the same plug as the 3GS

UK tariffs:
Why doesn't everybody just go on the SIMplicity plan (for something between 15 and 25 pounds per month) and by the iPhone 4 from Apple?
That's what I will do/have done.
I just subscribed to 12 months SIMplicity 15 pounds (300 mins, unlimited txt and internet), bought the 16GB from Apple website, will sell my great condition 3GS on eBay for around 300, so will end up spending 200 pounds on the new phone. Perfect.
Why DOESN'T everybody do that?

Having just arrived in the UK after four months of travelling (and four months of now work), I unfortunately don't have a spare £499 / £599 sitting around. Bad timing I guess, but I'm not overly fussed about the downsides going on a contract.

Question, anyone using Lloyds/Visa get a call to confirm that their order wasn't fraudulent or something?

At first my order wouldn't complete as it was coming back as "Authorisation Failed"

Then i got a call from the RBS credit card fraud squad and they too were confirming the order was legit of which i confirmed quickly to get my pre-order in :D

They have told me they have put over 2000 other cards on hold due to cards being targeted so the iPhone 4 can be purchased illegally!
