Looks like Apple are hyping it all up so that we all get into a frenzy for this new device, thus more sales as Apple play the mind games.

I'm trying to resist, honest......

lol.. i've got 4 t-mobile sims coming, so i can practice cutting :) i don't have any spare sims lying around... hopefully the o2 micro sim i ordered on pre-registration turns up too before next thursday..

not going to bother with screen protectors... this phone is supposed to be sapphire crystal equivalent or something! :p

How have you been doing it?

Did you pick up a 10p micro sim and use that as a template to get the real sim?

well i just phoned up apple in glasgow

confirmed that my name was on the reservation list, and i asked if i would get a microsim and they said yeah i should as i'm going with pay as you go. also i should be guaranteed an iphone and i can come in whenever, but may still need to que.

hope it helps a little :)

I just did the same and they confirmed my reservation was on the list but they are not currently aware of the micro-sim availability in store on launch day.

Just rang my local 02 store and they are opening at 9am next Thursday! I would have thought it would have been an earlier opening time as in the past. They did say they expect very limited stock, "so get here early". I'm wondering how early?

Just had a chat with O2:

Welcome to O2 live chat. Someone will start chatting with you soon.

You're through to Robert.

Robert: Hi, this is Robert from O2 online chat. How can I help you today?

Me: hi robert

Me: i have a question about my contract - it ends on 7 July

Me: Hello

Me: i can upgrade any time

Me: however, i have a friends & family 30 percent discount on my tarif at the moment

Me: if i take out a new handset and tarif - will my discount be lost?

Robert: Ok

Me: i'm hoping to get iPhone 4

Robert: by changing the contract you'll change the tariff and phone. However, this is bolt On and it'll not be effected.

Robert: You can still enjoy the benefit of this Bolt On

Me: excellent

Robert: Thanks

Robert: Is there any thing else I can help you with?

Me: is there any news on when the iPhone 4 handset prices will be released?

Robert: Until now this not updated but we've just received a update that this will be updated shortly on below link:

Robert: http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/index.html

Looks like an update coming soon!

Excellent. Thats good to see. I was considering changing to Orange if i was going to lose my 30% F&F discount that i get on my tariff, but if this stays, then im sticking with O2. Also, i might even consider changing to the £40 tariff to get the higher data limit, which will only cost me £28 per month.

Insurance

Dont know if this has been covered.

Does anyone have any recommendations on Insurance companies?

Please can we have recommendations based on passed experience weather good or bad experiences

I must have been living in dreamland up until yesterday.

I have a contract with T-mobile and have been eager for them to release tariff and phone price details for my upgrade which is due on 21st June.

For anyone reading this who has 50% friends and family discount on T-mobile DO NOT UPGRADE you will lose your discount. So for a free phone I would be looking in the region of £45/month for two years which equals £1080

If you upgrade to say a desire for 18months @ £30/month with this you get 600 minutes unlimited texts and unlimited data (fair use of 3gb).
Soon as you get the phone put it on ebay and get approx £300. Add an extra £200 and you got a sim free from apple (mine is already pre ordered).

so with t-mob in total its £15/month x 18 months = £270 + £200 extra for the iphone = £470

Getting excited now!!!

I've done pretty much the same thing, but how do you know you'll lose the 50% discount? I know they removed it when they were giving out iPhones unofficially, but now it should be different. My cousin called and got the impression he'd get to keep the discount.

Also, anyone know if T-Mobile will swap SIMs for MicroSIMs? I don't see the point in calling them if they haven't released any official info yet.

Your best bet is to cut the normal sim down imo. I'm sticking with O2 Simplicity and will do that at first anyway. I'm too impatient to wait :)

Hope that helps.

I emailed O2 support yesterday and requested a new sim card. It's been dispatched this morning.

Way I look at it, if I do knacker my sim card when I chop it up, I can at least get my number transferred to the replacement sim and I'm not without a working sim.

I'm going into my local store in about half an hour to ask that very question but frankly I don't expect any sort of useful answer. I have other stuff to do afterwards but, when I get back to my PC in a couple of hours or so, I'll post what happened.

could you elaborate on this vodafone quidco deal please?

Register with Quidco, they are a cashback website, you can read about them at MoneySavingExpert.com, they are pretty well trusted.

http://www.quidco.com/mobiles/sim-only/

They have various deals that give you cash back when you buy something via their website, in this case it's £120 back on a £25 a month 12 month SIM only at Vodafone (other contracts also available at reducing levels of cashback)

I've heard that it's best to make sure you've cleared all your cookies etc before placing an order, even better is to install a new browser specifically for making the Quidco transaction. This is because it tracks on cookie based links and if you happen to have clicked a different Vodafone link on another website recently, they get the £120 not you.

My mate who works as an upgrade rep had a meeting with this dude from Apple. They are starting to sell Iphone 3g for upgrade officially as of tomorrow as they were using chitter chatter before. They have been instructed that they have to remove the 50% discount for both models. Apparently it is possible to get someone to put it back on but I dont want to risk them saying NO. As of Micro sims my local store said they will have them on the day. I aint too confindent about that considering theyve been given a July date for iphone 4

It's a date. Maybe two different Starbucks to make it fun?

Will you be in the reservation line?

Im cardiff sorry mate but i'll be more than happy to have a facetime chat for the first time. Dunno anyone else who's getting one on the day so may aswell.

Sorry i forgot there were two, Cabot Circus i'm at.

me too...waiting for 2 reserved phones.
what time are you planning on getting there? see, I'm confused as to whether our place on the 'reservation queue' is based on our physical presence at the apple store or just the order we reserved in...I really hope they have enough to go around
