LOL Mine arrived this morning too. Each one in a separate envelope.

My iPad sim arrived too so I'm all ready now for a DIY job if I can't get a proper micro-sim.

How long did it take for the T-Mobile SIM cards to arrive from the day you requested?

Hi guys

I didn't reserve at my 'local' Apple store which is a 40 min drive (Eldon Square, Newcastle) and I regret this ALOT lol I was planning on ringing o2 for an upgrade or moving network and go for the contract route as I don't have £500 laying about (and I want an iPad as well). What I was wondering is whether Eldon Square will have units that are for sale for customers who did not pre order?? I am hoping to get one from a network but with them not releasing any information and the rumours of limited numbers then I might just drive to Newcastle and risk it.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but this thread is huge now ha

Cheers!

Since you're looking to buy on contract anyway, I would suggest you go to an O2/Orange/whatever carrier store instead. You should be able to show up to a store, sign a new contract and get an iPhone 4 on the 24th this way... Whereas the Apple store inventory of iPhones appears to be sold out so, unless there are leftovers/cancellations as mentioned you will probably not get an iPhone 4 on the 24th from any Apple store :(

The only problem with going the carrier route (other than cost) is that we have no idea of stock levels or handset pricing from most of the carriers (still).

Ok, I just read about last 15-20 pages of this thread, probably barely caught up with the end of it as new posts keep being added (and there'll probably be 20 new ones by the time I manage to post this).

My question:

I'm with O2 and have 7 months left on my contract, so 7x£20=£140 to buy myself out of the contract, and start a new contract.

But, I was wondering, could I buy a new phone from Apple, SIM-free, then ask for a micro-sim (or even cut my existing one), and continue my current contract, until it expires, using the new iPhone 4? Obviously, I'd sell my 3GS to help fund purchasing the new SIM-free iPhone 4.

This way, I wouldn't tie myself up with a new contract.

I must admit, I'm quite confused with all the options. I heard about Simplicity, but I'm not sure I understand it properly, and if it would be a good option for me. I thought it was a Pay-and-Go option, but then, I see they also have a 30-day and 12-month options, which is like a contract?

I don't even want to start considering other carriers, been with O2 for over 10 years, and even if they're not the best, it keeps things (already overly complicated!) simpler to just stay with them, as they'll all be more-or-less competitive (hopefully).

Hopefully, someone can advise and clarify any of the above raised points for me.

Thanks!

Yeah if you purchase a PAYG/Sim-Free iPhone from either o2 or Apple Store you should be able to ask o2 to swap it over for you to a Micro-Sim.

I got about 8 sim cards delivered this morning from both O2 and T-mobile so I'm going to practice cutting them into a micro sim so that I don't screw up on the one I'm going to use in my iphone because I doubt O2 will send me one out before the 24th.

Latest from the 3 blog

I think even the government coalition took less negotiation/finalising time hehe

I'm sure they'll have everything in order by the 24th. Best to just forget it for a week and wait.

Sounds like all the networks are looking at each others plans and trying to squeeze as much money out of customers while only just undercutting the rest

I'm guessing that's why they're all taking so long. They're all playing chicken. They don't want to show their hand before the others, because the others may undercut

I've ordered a iPhone for pickup at the Norwich store, so does anyone know what the queues there are normally like? Is there a good time to turn up, bearing in mind I don't want to be camping outside the store. thanks.

I think we'd have to go on the basis of the iPad launch as they weren't open last year for the 3Gs, anyone at the launch of the iPad?

From personal experience, I'd say turn up as early as you can. The store can be pretty busy from late morning to late afternoon. I don't live in Norwich so I'll be checking out my nearest stores before I head off to Apple.

Yeh same, I'm going to go around the local o2's and Carphone Warehouses until Apple as a last resort. You can activate it for a contract in store can't you?

A bit off topic....

Is anyone else having issues with data on their iphone? I've not had a signal all day?

I'm already on Vodafone and was looking at the Quidco sim only deal. If I transfer via Quidco can I keep my number? Would I still need to get my PAC from Vodafone for when I order it through Quidco, even though I'm staying on the same network?

I don't think you can, you have to transfer out of vodafone to someone else for at least a day then transfer back in. You might be best checking that out with vodafone though.

Something has gone wrong with o2 today and it's affecting people here in Surrey. Not sure how wide spread it is

EDIT: Just fixed it - check your phone, should be working now?

Well I've got myself a fair few options and I'm open to different contracts (until they all release pricing -_- ) so I'll be wandering around all my local stores :')

Apparently you can. Just head into store and tell them you're upgrading/want a new contract. They have access to O2's systems so they can set up contracts, I'd imagine it would be the same with any other provider too.

I've been able to make and receive calls - but I'm down to 2 bars of signal and a crackling line.

If I can, I want to move off the O2 network next week.

Went into carphone warehouse today to see if they had an O2 Microsims and they didn't even know that the iPhone 4 needed a Microsim, they thought I kept meaning iPad.

Is anyone able to confirm that I'll be able to take out a vodafone contract on my reserved iPhone 4, or is it just orange and o2?

Sorry, can't confirm anything.

O2 and Orange are the only carriers that have announced prices and plans, but we KNOW T-Mobile, 3, Vodafone and Tesco Mobile will be getting iPhone 4 at some point (And should be announcing pricing and plans soon).

Also don't know how Apple Store upgrades will work. You'll just have to wait until closer to the time to find out I'm afraid.

Cheers, should be easy enough to do.
