Right guys, I know this has probably been posted many times, but here goes...

popped into my local Apple store (sheffield, meadohwall) to ask about my reservation. I was reassured that Apple staff can access all the networks databases and upgrade/create new contracts for customers. No worries there.

All reservations will be held for 24hrs, but customers should expect to queue when they arrive in the morning (instead of sauntering to the front of the line and demanding your reservation).

I was reassured the Apple stores have allocated enough stock to cover reservation requests. Relief!

Im still to catch up on the last few pages but i thought i would post first about a phone call I recieved this morning.
I had emailed Tom Alexander at Orange the other day & someone from his office has called me, he has arranged a micro sim to be sent & assured me its NO PROBLEM to transfer over on my current contract & I do NOT need to change to an iphone tariff, thats entirely my decision. He gave me a number to call to activate the micro sim, told me to keep the iphone switched off & when i saw my current sim go off on my mobile then i could switch on the iphone & it should be up & running, all going well, didnt mention of a few interim hours without my number, seems it should be seemless!!! LOL

If i have forgotten anything, I will edit & add!

Went into carphone warehouse today to see if they had an O2 Microsims and they didn't even know that the iPhone 4 needed a Microsim, they thought I kept meaning iPad.

at least they knew what a Micro SIM was...when i went in an asked, the reply i got was 'do you mean a Micro SD card'. errrr...no

PAYG battle royale!

I think for me this is going to come down to a fight between Orange and T-Mobile, where Orange provide 250mb/month cellular data and T-Mobile 1gb (for £40/year).

Orange: 250MB/month - FREE for 12 months
T-Mobile 1GB/month - £20 for 6 months

I'm looking for two iPhones, so clearly if I went T-Mobile I would increase my total cost of ownership by £80 in the first year, whereas that £80 on Orange would go towards call time instead.

I've heard T-Mobile's 1GB will have a capped broadband speed, although I haven't seen any actual evidence of this. Does anyone know more?

Giffgaff, O2 etc are moving out of the race since £10/month x 2 phones = £240 per year which when used largely just for data is too much...

Could anybody with experiences of either Orange or T-Mobile advise me at all on which to go for?

Slightly off-topic, but I've read that Tesco are selling £15 iTunes cards for £10. Anyone else confirm this? I want to get the TomTom app and this'll save quite a bit.

People at HotUKDeals were reporting that the cards were scanning through the till at £10, instead of £15 as part of an offer however the offer wasn't advertised and price checking the card shows up at £15.

If the offer's still on, I could do with some iTunes goodness :)

Yeah mine's been off all day, it's just started working again now but thats twice in a week it's been down all morning!

Looks like O2 Recycle is down too. I think an announcement is imminent - they'll be reviewing the value they're giving customers for trading in their old iPhones before announcing the handset prices - so they don't get a flurry of people submitting at the higher rate.

Thanks for the heads up. This is like the wave pulling back from the beach before the Tsunami, eh? Or is it like a lead up to an anti-climax?

It's more like when you go to the loo with a book, only to find you've wasted your time - but you managed to get through two chapters nonetheless.

Don't forget the free Google SatNav app will be out in the next few weeks for the iPhone.
Also, to keep you going, NDrive is dirt cheap at the moment

This is true, None of the staff however knew anything about it. I ended up getting a couple.

Alternatively, Co-op are doing the £25 vouchers for £20 with a coupon, so if you don't want to risk the tesco deal, there is also this. Albeit a slightly worse offer.

Sorry to sound a bit whiney but this has been covered a lot here. Upgrades or new lines can be done at Apple stores on Vodafone, O2 and Orange. :):)

Yeah but i've also heard that it was just the two, not sure where but i'm sure i did, so was wondering just what was going on. Thought they would be accepting as under where to get an iPhone on Apple store they had o2, orange & vodafone there

NDrive missing? Interesting. And what of Google SatNav coming to iPhone? Do you have a source for that? It's a killer USP for Android so I would have thought it would almost certainly NOT come to iPhone.

It's there, but the prices have gone, and if you click on a 'Sell now', it takes you to a page which says 'Invalid phone selected'!

Hmmm.

TT
