Also the benefit of buying a PAYG phone is that you can change your phone every year if you want and arent tied into a 24 month contract.

I just know I'm going to end up buying the new iPhone! I can't go on replacing these things yearly; they're expensive!

If your an o2 customer, would going to the o2 center be a good plan on the release date?

I'm on contract with Vodafone, hope Apple release the iPhone all over the world at the same time. Fed-up with new tech to be released in the US first then several months later, here in the U.K.
Don't they care about us Brits:(
they been doing worldwide release day for all models so far, voda and orange were late in pickin the phone up cause of O2's exclusivity contract with apple

Well the 3G and 3GS was released here (England) at the same time it was in the USA as we are what Apple classes as one of the "special" 6 european countries.

can do, I'm sure alot of O2 customers queue up on release day to get their phones upgraded

it was more to do with O2 having exclusivity contract with Apple

I'm going into the store. I'm heading for the one in Westfields. I can look around the Apple store as well. And also get some cd's at HMV.

Make a day of it.

I went to the store on the iPad release day, just to look. Got there about 10:30, and it was quite packed. By midday the crowd was out the door and it has continued to be overflowing since.

So get up super early, or buy online...

Two big hopes really -

1) That we don't see another ridiculous price jump like we did with the 3GS.
2) That the upgrade process is a little less of a shambles than the other releases so far, and that O2 doesn't continually lie to everyone all the way through. The 3GS release *was* slightly better (save for aforementioned price gouge) as not everyone was eligible to upgrade, so hopefully that trend will continue.

What was the price raise on each model from 3g to 3gs ?

Wasn't PAYG available on Pre-Order as well on release day? I bought a PAYG on the day of release but I never thought to pre-order, I just enjoyed the queue and the atmosphere.

No you could not pre order the pay as you go but was available on day one but you had to buy 10 pounds credit

I just bought out the last 7 months of my 18 month contract (£245) and sold my 3GS for £307! so back to square 1.

I was on O2 but am thinking of switching to Orange if they provide better deals. only question is, what are peoples experiences with the 750MB 'unlimited' data compared to O2's more generous 'unlimited' offering? do you find yourself regularly paying over the allowance?

can't wait till the 7th. parting with my iPhone was pretty painful :(

Staying with Orange by the looks of it depending on prices.
what plan are you looking at cause i am not happy with what is on offering..... as i txt alot i need an unlim txt tariff but the fact i would have to 1) pay £5 extra a month an 2) tie into a 2yr contract puts me in the mind set of move to o2 an pay the same £30 on a £18 month contract an keep my unlim txts

cant comment on having 750mb internet but I do have the £5 500mb bundle added on my tariff and I never touched my 500mb mark I always found myself using wifi more than data though lol

Well iv never had an Iphone before as i currently just have a cheap nokia on contract. I shall wait and see what Orange offer when the phone has been announced as i have a feeling they could be a whole set of different plans so its a wait and see :)

Quick question I have always had a contract phone but thinking of going PAYG when the next iPhone is out, as I do not make many calls, but use plenty of data.

Do you have to top-up credit every month? or if you topped-up £10 and never made a call would that last all year?

If there is a PAYG option with 12 months free data/wifi than that looks ideal. Also keeping my number going from O2 contact to O2 PAYG would not be a problem I assume?

flumps - I hope they come out with a 18 month contract with unlim txt thats £30 or they lose a customer lol

tagy - I believe you have to topup every month to get the data allowance

I've had a pay and go 3G and then 3GS on o2 and have not at any point topped up. I last topped up when I had the original iPhone hactivated and on o2 pay and go in 2007/8.

The 12 months included data had worked fine with both 3G and 3GS without topping up.

I'm glad I found this thread as I am looking to get my first ever iPhone when the 4g comes out. I am currently with Vodafone and an due for an upgrade in June.

Currently I have a normal Nokia (very old) phone and a BB which I use for email only (there's a reason why I have both).

Of course with an iPhone I will ditch the BB. The main use will be calls, then email, then all the other cool non-work related stuff!

It would be useful to hear any comments on Vodafone / iPhone deals and recommendations. I expect I'll do the upgrade direct with Voda or possibly with the shop I usually use for mobiles.
