Have a feeling the data limits will be upped pretty significantly if they introduce video calling on the iphone4. Either that or they'll charge for video calling.

Anyhow still exciting times. My exams finish on Friday so everything is timed perfectly!

isnt the data unlimited anyway?

Oh yeah maybe, but I'm sure there is a 'fair use policy' on 02, but I seem to remember either Voda or Orange have limits. Could be wrong though.

The main point I was trying to make was the networks (esp o2 which seems to struggle more than the others) will take a massive hit if video calling kicks off big time, and I'm not sure they'd cope.

If that was launch day, you were one of the lucky ones.

Yes that was launch day. I stood in the queue at my local Apple Store, gave up after 45 mins and bought one in an o2 store. They made me buy the top up but they scanned the sim pack which put the £10 on.

16gb 3g - had since launch. They say £183 (this is just for the handset) but I'm expecting them to knock some off for 2 years wear and tear. It's slightly more if you take it in Argos vouchers instead. I think mazuma offer around the same.

I think O2 wer calling the shots to Apple at that point. The excuse Apple gave me were that they were under orders from O2 to install the chip and initialize it. It's odd because they had to do it under O2's system which runs under Windows. Poor Apple chap was cursing it. A case of the tail wagging the dog that time around.

problem for me with these companies are their like webuyanycar who give you a bad value, then have the cheek to knock more and more off the price...

i dont trust companies like that

People seem to get quite a bit on e bay much more than the we buy any phone sites

yeah, i spose the only thing is ebay is full of scammers, i have used cex before, their offering £290 cash for a white 16gb 3gs in mint condition... and £250 for a 16gb 3g....

but with them at least its done while your there and theres no messing around with postage, worrying about losing it etc..

and not too bad prices i guess

I will be anxiously looking at the offers after 7th June. My 3G battery is almost dead. Unfortunately I need an unlocked phone. So I will be carefully reading what the UK operators will be offering in this area. If a 4th gen is not offered officially unlocked in the UK, or the facility to officially unlock them is not offered, I will just get a 3Gs here in Saudi, where all are sold officially unlocked. I am leaving my job here, so I will have a 3 week window to make the decision. The new generation of apple products usually arrive here several months after release in other parts of the world, so I'm guessing a 4th gen will not be an option if I buy from here.

dear god I am dying without my iPhone I really couldn't see a phone that could replace the iPhone for me except a newer model iPhone lol

anyone got a spare iPhone they wanna lend me? lol

I sincerely hope, for you sanity, that you are not dying.

Fab! Thanks for this, didn't realise O2 did this. Have signed up for this one instead. Only difference is I have to send the charger too. Oh, and they're upfront about deductions.

?

Why send the charger? I haven't sent mine to them! I thought it states to send chargers for cameras and ipods only?!?!?

Wasn't it posible to keep you existing phone till at least you know whats happening next week? It's possible he could say that they wont be available here till October or something.
well with the way all the releases have been I just jumped ahead to make sure I got the money, I'm makig do with a sony ericsson an it's just not filling the void

O.K. We've got the iPad launch successfully out of the way and thousands of us are very happily enjoying the stunning multi-functional gadget that it is but it is time now, for those of us who enjoy the thrill of the chase, to focus on the imminent launch of the new iPhone.

Due to be announced in just over a week at WWDC, I wonder whether it will be available to buy within days of that announcement. I suspect that Apple will be bending over backwards to make it available to purchase as early as possible in view of the unfortunate leaks which must have had an impact on sales of the 3GS.

Personally I can't wait as this seems to be a significant upgrade with brand new hardware (which looks pretty good) and multi-tasking promised.

Bring it on! :)

I'll be in the US again from the 4th to the 1st July. Hope it comes out and is available in some unlocked configuration.. Maybe you'll want one early!

I was planning on doing something similar with my 3G, but I had it stolen on me :(. Now, being only 19 and have a terrible habit of spending every penny I get straight away, I will face an uphill battle gathering up the money to buy the 4G on launch day. Assuming it launches this month of course.

Hi Matthew, good to hear that you're still around!

I'll keep your offer in mind but I have a feeling that the new iPhone will be available in the U.K. at the same time as the U.S.A., and also that it might just go on sale as early as the end of next week, literally within days of the announcement at WWDC next Monday.

...here's hoping anyway! :D
