So I just tried to get my PAC code from O2 incase I decided to go with another network next week and I was told I wouldn't be able to upgrade with O2 until the PAC code expires (which is 30 days). Wish Three would release their damn tariffs!

I've just noticed pre-orders for the iPhone 4 on the UK Apple Store online are at July 14th now ... I was planning on buying mine on July 24th at the Glasgow Apple Store, but even that might be hard going.

Surely if you really want one before and your not currently an o2 customer... you could just ring up now, sign up to a sim only package then by Thursday... your an existing customer.

Won't work unfortunately, there is a limit of having been an o2 customer before May 24th 2010

I remember when I reserved my phone it said you can change your mind on whether you wanted contract, payg or unlocked at the apple store on the day.
I think they just sell the phone and maybe activate it for you for an unlocked one.
What time you planning to get your reservation from West Quay?
I'm planning to get there before 8 but I'm not sure if west quay will even be open by then!

That's good then.. I think i'll get there for around 7:30, think west quay itself won't open until just before the apple store does, that's how it worked when the 3GS came out anyway..

I'm on a 30 day simplicity tariff but have been with o2 for 13 years. Am I a pay monthly customer or PAYG? Will I be able to go buy a handset at launch in an o2 shop?

Doesn't look like it...Simplicity isn't considered contract...sim only is treated the same as PAYG!

Hi

I'm lucky enough to have pre-ordered one unlocked direct from Apple but haven't got a micro-sim to go in it... How do I go about getting a pay as you go micro-sim and will it have the same free 3G data as if i'd got a phone with a sim direct from a carrier (which isn't even possible yet)?

I think O2 might be your best bet - Text & Web - £10 top up gets you 500MB web, unlimited wi-fi. You might also consider a Simplicity plan, which if you get it now you can get unlimited web/wi-fi for £20/month plus 200 minutes and unlimited texts.

Orange and Vodafone also offer SIM-only plans. Nothing on pay as you go from them as yet.

O2's response to iPhone stock shortage

iPhone 4 will only be available for existing O2 customers at launch

iPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away. We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us.

Whether you're an existing O2 mobile customer looking to upgrade, or one of our broadband customers looking to move your mobile to O2, our iPhone stock is reserved exclusively for you.

....Queue the hate... 1...2...3...go!

Luckily I got mine ordered from Apple Store UK for delivery on 24th June - my birthday! :)

Ring your Apple store the reservation is through next Wednesday.

I just rang the Newcastle Apple store, they told me they are able to do o2 upgrades, and my reserved phone will be held until I get there after work at 3pm, I just hope this remains the case!!!!!

I hope everyone has a happy :apple: I phone 4 day on the 24th ;)

Just tried to downgrade my £45 monthly O2 iPhone tariff to the £25 Simplicity and was told I couldn't as I'm halfway through a 24 month contract and moving to Simplicity wouldn't be allowed. Which is a bit of a pain.

So I then tried to downgrade to the £35 iPhone tariff and was told it'd be the new iPhone tariffs... so I'd lose unlimited data, have to pay for picture messaging (no longer counted as 4 - or is it 3? - texts) and also pay for visual voicemail access?

From all of the charts I've seen I knew about the data, suspected the cost of MMS was no longer counted as they actually mention a price, but the voicemail access is new to me... anyone else heard differently?

If you downgraded before the 24th then NO you would not lose your unlimited data as the contracts don't change until after 24th

have been with o2 for 13 years

Taken from the o2 website

O2 was formed in 2001...

Doc..is that you?

I thought it was considered a monthly contract since you set up a direct debit. It's not pay as you go.

Im a 3g user who switched to simplicity once my 18 month term ran out (January)... they best not try and tell me i dont count as an existing or there will be hell to pay!!

I just ordered my phone from apple - delivery estimate 15-16 July !:(

I couldnt risk it slipping even more and there not even be any in the shops.

At least if they do become available in the shops before that i can just cancel my online order and buy one (providing it hasnt shipped )

Upgrades just told me that isn't true at all. The PAC code is irrelevant until it is used.
