So what are the chances that iPhone 4 arrives a day early like the iPad did?

if it did and the activation went through then you would have a fully working iphone 4, no problems,

if it comes on the 24th I would suspect that apples activation servers will go into meltdown and you may not even get it activated for a day or two

Why not? For those ordering from Apple it's plausible.

The only reason iPads arrived a day early was that online orders were scheduled for delivery 'BY' May 28th. Apple intended to send them as soon as they were ready. The product was already launched internationally and the only hold-back was availability. In this case however, this is a product launch and the delivery date says 'ON'. They will most likely arrive in the UK up to a day early, but will NOT be released for delivery earlier than the launch date. This has been the trend with all past Apple launches and there is no evidence to suggest they will change that now.

international calls / roaming

Hi, do 02 tariffs still include the 'ITS' prices for travelling?

Any knowledge of which companies are best for folks who need to call abroad and / or travel regularly?

Thanks again. Also, thanks to the last people who answered my question. This thread is moving faster than me and I can't keep up (with all of you presumably younger than me people)...

I had a quick look at this yesterday for roaming.

T-mobile looked pretty good to me... not much between o2/orange/voda. Vodas data was slightly cheaper but calls and texts were pretty much all the same

I do not really think that the phones are shipping from China. For instance my iPhone shows ships by June 24 delivers by June 25. It is impossible for it to ship and deliver in one night from China unless the iPhones are already somewhere in the UK. To be honest i have no experience about how Apple deals with the shipping and all this stuff but i cant imagine it can ship from China on june 24 and deliver june 25.

does anyone know any info on Facetime pricing??? i mean....if it;'s only wifi......does it cost anything to do?? Is it just the cost of the call??? ie if u get free mins......facetime is completely free??

facetime is still a mystery cause I've seen a video were the phone initiates a facetime convo and then I seen another that starts a call then switches to wifi

it will be 100% free on wifi, no cost, no contract mins used (perhaps if you were on a voice call then you clicked 'make facetime' then you would have used mins but it should change off to the free wifi then), but we'll know for sure on the 24th

Honestly, the best thing to do if you travel lots is buy the phone outright (sim-only), get yourself an O2 simplicity 30 day rolling contract and swap the sim when you go back to MA :)

Like someone above, I'm not too familiar with Apple's delivery dates for new product launches.

I've ordered my phone through the Apple Online Store and the Order Status says that it will be shipped 'By 24th June' but delivered '25th - 28th June'. Does this mean that I won't get the phone on the Thursday, or is it just an oddity of the online system?

I've also checked both the UK and US Store Status, and my order is still 'Not yet shipped'. :(

Thanks.

Any PAYG iphone 4 that is locked (if indeed they do lock them) should be able to be unlocked by the user once a jailbreak comes out, correct?Has this been the case with all previous versions of the iphone?

Did you order an accessory as well on the same order? if so it may change the delivery date.

I would do it ASAP cause you can pretty much bet your last penny that the systems will get pretty strained closer to launch

I agree with you. As soon as i have my micro sim in my hand im arranging the transfer. Coz you are still able to use it in your current mobile so why wait?

I did to begin with, but the cancelled it shortly afterwards, as I wasn't sure on it.

It was the iPhone 4 Bumper case - which did (at the time) also have the same est. delivery date as the phone itself.

Thanks for your reply.

Jailbreak and unlock are two separate things. As far as I know, OS4 has already been jailbroken, however it could still be a long time until a software unlock is released.

If you want an unlocked iphone 4 then you'd be best paying the extra £30-40 and buying one, that way it will be unlocked forever and you won't have to worry about firmware updates etc
