I just called the 3 store in Eldon Square (Newcastle) to put my name address and number down :)
however she said, "we can't be sure we'll have any iPhones on launch day, and that's not just us, we've been told that apple have had a meeting with all the networks and they may delay the launch..."
:S :?
I dunno...
lol

To be honest I can see all iPhone 4 being unlocked.

If all the iPhones were unlocked, then why the hell would Apple charge an extra £30 for the sim free version. and why the hell would o2 promise a PayGo as coming soon. And why the hell would orange offer a PayGo for 30 quid less than the sim free, with 12 months of web and wifi if it wasn't locked to their network.

I agree with you. As soon as i have my micro sim in my hand im arranging the transfer. Coz you are still able to use it in your current mobile so why wait?

ok i took your guys advise and i transferred my number over just now....she told me to put the new sim in and turn it off for 2 hours, switch back on to get all the text updates through orange and then i'll be sorted.....then when my iphone comes on thursday all i'll need to do is activate it through itunes.......sounds easy.....lets hope it is!!

I've just popped into the St Albans 3 store (I was passing), and they said they their plans won't be revealed until the 24th, and they won't actually have any phones until the beginning of July.

Looks like it may be a nation-wide thing for 3

Possibly to get people to buy on that network. You have to remember that not everybody knows that phones are locked/unlocked, and will just stay with the network they choose. If, for example, Orange was £10 cheaper than O2, these people might go to Orange and then stay, as they think the phone network is Orange for them. This then gives Orange the top up money.

Ah well, I guess they'll probably start preorders on Thursday, if they've got some impressive deals then I don't mind waiting a week or 2.

Right, my iPhone 3G is sold.

I'm going to take a chance and cue up outside the Apple Store, Brent Cross.

Anyone else going to be there?

What are the chances that I'll be able to pick up an iPhone on the 24th?

Same in the 3 store in Leicester. Popped in today, manger said he did not know what the plans were going to look but said "I'll put my house on them being loads better than anything out currently"

He said he was not expecting any stock for the day of release and that it would be the first few weeks in July before they got any real stock in.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but been in 3 o2 stores enquiring about micro sims

1 said that I should come back Thursday. The other 2 said you can get in store from Monday

If Apple ...DARE delay the launch then there will be war

My local Phones4U is taking launch day preorders for £10 per iPhone, with network preference. No guarantee, but at least with a receipt for some money paid it's something. They're also opening at 8am, like all stores I imagine.

I thought I was on to a winner with my local Phones4U as the manager said he would reserve one for me. However I popped in today and they said they weren't getting any 32GB ones. He even showed me the computer screen. The on screen tariffs only showed 16GB versions. Apparently they have a meeting on Wednesday which he believes will discuss the new iPhone.

My local store doesn't know what time to open yet. But as I want a 32GB version, it looks like I will be camping outside Orange instead (which opens at 7AM).

Problem is that you dont know what time they open the centre to start queuing, last year they opened around 7am i think but they opened about 3 entrances at the same time!

might be earlier this time...

Just FYI guys, popped into my local Orange store today after ringing them the other day. Basically I signed my contract and paid the handset cost today, and I can pop in on Thursday after work to pick it up.

Might be worth asking if your local one is doing the same.

I thought the Apple Store Brent Cross only had 1 entrance?

As for 7am... erm, I was thinking more along the line of getting there for 9am. 7 seems a little far too early... will have to get my arse outta bed at 6 :eek:

lol I'm gonna get to my local Apple store for about 6.30, I don't go to sleep until about 8am though so basically I won't be getting any sleep until I get back, what are the odds of me being able to get to sleep when I have a new iPhone to play with though? Yea so basically I'll no end up going to sleep that day, 2 days no sleep in order for me to get an iPhone? sounds like a fair deal to me lol
