Well I'm selling my 3GS on ebay (6months old) and putting the cash in to buy a new Iphone 4 , and may treat myself to 32GB this time.

I thought it was £349 and £399?

As I recall, the prices were slashed. Ok, let me find the 3G email.

Ok, might have deleted it, but here's the original:

Pay & Go customers can now enjoy the iPhone 3G without a monthly contract. The new iPhone 3G 8GB for Pay & Go will be available for £349.99 and the 16GB version for £399.99.

so yes, you're right, but 99p out.

Oh yes, sorry!

3G was 8GB, 3GS was 16GB and I think £50 extra for the extra storage.

So why on earth is it £100 for extra storage now? It really shouldn't be. The differencing I'm working it is averaging the difference is size to be £25 per chip.

Cool thanks for the info.

The big indicator I guess is the US pricing, which the iPhone 4 is the same as what the 3GS was.

There has been some debate on here as to whether the dollar/pound effect will have an impression on the latest Apple US to UK price conversion.

I personally just think that as the US iPhone 4/3GS launch price are the same - we can also expect the same (£440).

iPhone 4 16gb £540 / iPhone 4 32gb £640 would be outrageous.

I'll try harder next time ;)

heheh :D

Right, pricing, don't you dare be £500 or more. I am trying to develop apps here, and ROI is good, but the higher the price is, the longer it is going to take for me to reach the new developing platform.

I'm happy if you stay at the current price, just don't go up

I've decided that with my self payments and allowance of £30 per week, I can get an iPhone in October. I'll have 320 by the end of July, then I discount August, completely. Then start again in September/October.

I'm not including bonuses either.

I'm currently on a 18mth contract with O2 due to end in Sep '10. I'm thinking about buying the a PAYG directly from Apple and changing my contract to a Simplicity one in Sep.

Questions:
a) Is the O2 Simplicity plan the same as a regular contract with regards to data usage. i.e. does simplicity have unlimited data or is there a cap?
b) Do you think O2 will give me a micro-sim for the iPhone 4 even though my contract is still going and I'm not renewing?

looking at the AT&T pay as you go prices i think its safe to assume the PAYG prices over here will just replace the current models.

8gb 3GS - £349
16gb iPhone 4 - £449
32gb iPhone 4 - £549

Yes and yes.

I really hope so.

1400 mins on a monthly contract with a free iPhone on an 18 month contract will be somewhere in the region of £70 pm?

Why pay that when I can just buy it payg and keep paying my £30 for all those minutes anyway. Any which way u look at it you have to fork out a large sum either at the start or over a period of 24 months. I just prefer to suffer the blow at the start rather then over a period of time :)
You can get 1200mins + 500 text + Internet for £35/month and you get a phone worth (say) £360. Over 24 months that essentially takes £15/month off the price plan so you'd have pretty much what you have now, but for £20pm instead of £30pm.

I was really surprised when the 3GS price was announced at £100 more than the 3G. I'm hoping the fact that they hiked it way up last time for no reason will mean the GBP/USD change (10%) will be absorbed and we'll get the same prices as last year (£350 and £450).

Get ready to be jealous...

My 18 month contract with O2 (I have an iPhone 3G 16gb) ends on 7 July. I was eligible to upgrade as of 7 June (the day iPhone 4 was announced).

I'm on a 30% discount deal, so I get the £45 per month deal for £31 per month (it was originally 1200 mins+500 text messages and unlimited wifi, but it's now 600 mins+unlimited texts+unlimited wifi, which suited me better).

I'll be able to happily order from O2 on 15 June and take my pick of 16GB or 32GB iPhone 4 and cut a deal to hang on to my 30% discount. I can even offer them my old iPhone as part of the deal if there's a charge for the new phone, or hang on to it and sell it on eBay.

Otherwise, I have Vodafone waiting in the wings (Vodafone have called me five times since I quit them for O2 in January 2009 - they're desperate for my business back - they even offered me the same monthly deal O2 were offering me, along with a free Blackberry Storm).

Add to this, I head off for a three-week vacation in the States on 25 June - the day after iPhone 4 is released - so I'll hopefully have my new iPhone 4 by the time I get on my flight.

And... I'm getting a 32gb iPad when I get to the States (the 16gb is £429 in the UK, the 32g is £434 when you factor in dollar conversion and state tax).

I'll be in gadget heaven for three weeks.

:)

Not jealous at all. As an O2 preferred customer, I've just realised that I don't have to pay for the iPhone, and I still get it on a 12-month contract at £35 per month. I'll be waiting until October so I can be fairly sure that the people in the meantime get the buggies from the first batches.

Already have an iPad 32GB, and a new MacBook Pro.

You're in the wrong place to brag about this. Around here your situation is average at best. You ought to try this in your school playground though, it will probably turn some eyes green there.
