I wonder if the iPhone 4 will have unlimited texts on all of it's price plans on 02?, also I wonder if other carriers will follow suit.

As far as im aware, havent O2 decided to offer unlimited texts for everything as standard now?
which annoyed me somewhat as they annouced this after i countlessly go over my 1,000 text allowence and had to buy a 500 text bolt on!

unlimited would be welcomed by open arms by me!

Blimey, the carriers had better hurry up with the pricing details...before everyone joins in with the e-penis gadget contests! :p

O2 is finally sending out tweets for the morning...unsurprisingly, they claim to have had thousands in the past couple of days.

Yes but when I asked about this last night I was told that you get less talk time for the same price, roaming texts will be chargeable instead of deducted as 4 messeges for each sent, and most importantly for me MMS will now be charged insead of coming our of the 'bundle'

Booooo!

Im not overly bothered about the minutes, i have 600 and probably use about 60 of them a month. im a texter.
the MMS thing is abit of a pain, although thankfully whatsapp sends pictures. ive been using it to talk blackberry > iphone for awhile now and the newest update supports picture sharing.

Anyone know what the best option is in terms of buying the phone unlocked is?
I think it will be O2 who will probably unlock it for £15.

Does anyone know:

1. If we order online from apple on the 15th, do we still have to pay the £10 topup for the payg handsets?

2. If we have to top up, then is it possible to transfer this £10 onto a different sim number? i.e. existing payg sim.
The way it worked last time (O2) is you needed to pay the £10 to activate the new SIM and get the free data, but then you could transfer your number and balance from your old SIM.

I rang o2 about switching to the unlimited text plan afew months ago, and decided against it because i rarely use over 500 and on the unlimited you are charged for MMS which i do use

Few questions.

I finally paid of my contract for the iPhone as I was annoyed about the lack of 3G to 3GS upgrade so i kept the 3G to pay of the contract.

When it was up I moved to a month by month iPhone Simplicity contract. So first question is Am I still an iPhone pay monthly/contract customer or just a simplicity customer?

Second is will the phone be available for me to buy out right/PAYG to keep my current sim on the release date?

Any insights would be appreciated.

How do i find out if i am a preferred customer? Contracts under my mums name, and she currently has 2 contracts, and has for about 4 years.

O2 i mean btw. I want a free iPhone and 12 month contract haha

a few months ago i asked about switching to unlimited texts (before they were a standard) and they told me i could only have one unlimited thing, and at the moment that was data. so they told me that my current data useage wouldnt top more than about a fiver a month so maybe i should switch to pay as you use type data plan, and have umlimited text....

... it didnt quite work out that way and my bills were still huge!

im not too bothered about losing MMS, whatsapp is very handy for that! although it totally rinses my battery :(

You are in a rolling 30 day contract or a 12 month one depending on which one you chose and the second bit is no one knows but I would guess we will hear something a few days before the pre-order date.

As who would want to pre-order a phone without knowing the prices.

As tempting as it would be to pre-order without prices it wouldn't happen haha.

I'm on the 30day contract, but still pay over DD and according to there website it's an iPhone Simplicity Contract, just don't want to be shafted by possibly waiting for a few more weeks for a PAYG version to be told my sim doesn't work or something lol.

The sim will definitely work as I did the same for a short period of time with a pay as you go 3GS with a simplicity sim ;) They should hand out the microsim to anyone who has a valid contract so no need to worry about getting shafted!

use email instead of MMS

why the hell do people pay for the rip off MMS when you have free data so can send nice big full res pictures than the 'one pixel for a face' crap that is MMS, even on payandgo its cheaper to send an email than it is a MMS when you dont have a data addon

When the 3GS was out, O2 never made the 3G cheaper, they just kept the price the same and made the 3GS even more expensive. Let's hope they don't do that now.

Though, I doubt they will, since they could easily just swap the models around at the existing price points, and since more networks have the iPhone now, there's the element of competition too.

I'm talking about Pay As You Go, BTW.

I switched to simplicity once my 3G contract was up, so am now on a rolling monthly contract. Not sure how that will be looked-upon by O2 in terms of an upgrade, but depending on pricing I might be better off buying a PAYG handset and sticking with Simplicity anyway.

your upgrade should be the same as if you upgraded at the 18th month mark, or it could be better - like more money off

exactly what i want to do... if only the carriers/apple would release the pricing info already!

hope payg is available on pre-orders/launch too

ps: as you're on simplicity, you're not on a "contract", so doubt there's any upgrade paths.. you just buy payg handset outright... but worth asking about it i guess.

With O2 do you have to get iPhone simplicity or can you just get the regular one and join that up with the free 12 month web bolt on you get when you buy an iPhone

In the past you got a normal O2 SIM with the added year of free internet. No idea what will happen this time though.

I just spoke to 02 and the lady said she was told she was told the iPhone 4 isn't out until July and no idea when we can pre order!
