OK!!!.... Here's my RANT!

On the 15th Apple opened the pre orders for the iPhone 4 from their website to receive it on the 24th June. I didn’t pre order because I thought I would get it from o2 on the day since they said it would be available on PAYG at launch (and the PAYG version is usually a bit cheaper than Sim Free, and I don’t need it unlocked as I’m with o2) so, i thought i would wait.

So two days passed and apple sold over 600,000 pre orders and now the next delivery date for a pre order is the 15th JULY!!! Another MONTH!! To make things worse, o2 changed the info on their website saying Pay As You Go will no longer be available at launch, another few months’ time. GREAT. So I could have pre ordered on the 15th and got it on Thursday. Now I have pre ordered and it’s going to be delivered in a MONTH!!!

So I went to the apple store and spoke to one of their staff to ask about how many will be in stock, and he was like "I can’t tell you anything, its secret" so i was like omg, it’s a phone. He said people will be cueing from 4am on the 24th and there will be a limited amount in stock.

So, I have it pre ordered for a MONTHS time, but I am going to go down on Thursday early (they open at 8) and cue up like a geek.

But after all, I suppose it only is a phone. I'm just annoyed because I could have pre ordered on the 15th anyway and cancelled it if I acquired it elsewhere. So I’m kicking myself! Haha! But, Apple act like it’s the Holy Grail, and o2 don’t have a clue about anything - I seemed to know more about their tariffs than they do.

Rant over :)

Why didn't you just do what the rest of us did and reserve one on the 15th, just in case the Networks don't have it or what ever? Would have been the sensible thing to do, that was you could have always backed out in the event of something going tits up, like this...

a few questions i reckon some people still want to know.

1. how fast will 250mb be used from playing games on the iphone (online multiplayer ofc)

2. are there any carriers who make a cheap cheap cheap contract which has unlimited internet, don't care much for the texts and minutes.

3. is there a chance that the iphones will be delivered earlier than the website says ( only 2nd july and 14th july, i know theres no chance of the 24th being delivered earlier)

4. Which bumper colour will look good on a black iphne?

as for point 2 you can get unlimited internet (1GB/month) 100 mins and 100 texts for a tenner a month.

With T-mobile

blegh... unlimited is a lie... 1gb per month is not much but i dont know how multiplayer games on the iphone use data... is there a website which shows how much some games use in mb? or something like that..

are there any contracts at all, any price with a real unlimited internet plan?

On the 24th people will be going to Apple stores to pick up their pre-orders. Apple say they will hold the phones till close of business on the 24th. Does that mean that going first thing on the 25th would be a good way to get a phone if you missed the 24th for pre-order?

If you get iPhone Simplicity from O2, before the 24th you can be 'grandfathered' on the current plan with unlimited internet. However, you will have to get a SIM free iPhone from Apple for this. Just ask for a replacement MicroSIM when you get your iPhone from an O2 store.

Everyone has a fair usage policy. 02 has the most relaxed one at around 3GB we believe. As above says, get an o2 simplicity plan

i want to get a cheap 8gb iphone 3g, after all it was the iphone that changed everything........

Im not sure really. it all gets a bit confusing. T-mobile do one with 3gb of usage for android. Dont know how you can blag that mind. Ive taken out a desire for £30 a month 18months with 50% half price and ive ordered a sim free for thursday. My internet has a 3gb cap.

In the last two weeks ive used 500mb of data. Ive been flat out on Sky sports and been watching the World cup live on it. Thats besides my daily use of Facebook, twitter, internet browsing.

guys, ive just signed up to an o2 simplicity plan, 30day one!

how do you know when its all been accepted and gone through? can anyone whos started one of these let me know please :)

ive had an email with the details but presumably they have to do a credit check and all that malarky first???

also good to hear that i may be able to keep the unlimited data too then, not massively bothered as doubt ill use it anyway!

T-mobile do 6 months unlimited internet for £20 on their PAYG plans. subject to 1gb fair use

I don't know whether you read my post but a fiver is significantly cheaper than £20 and on 3 it is every month whereas t-mobile is only for however long you said. Plus 3 has the best 3G coverage in the whole of the uk :)

No didnt read it.

£5 for Six months? thats awesome. Dont make a difference to me though as I'm stuck in my contract. Something to think about though

I don't think you need to pass a credit check for simplicity but I'm not 100% sure on that, but you are normally sent a text when you change tariffs :)

Fellow Belfastians,

I went to O2 in Castle Court and VS, and they both said they had the microsims in stock but couldn't give them out until Monday. The CC branch said you needed to bring proof (email, etc) that you have reserved an iPhone with Apple, but the VS branch said you didn't need to.

Btw, the staff laughed when I asked them for a microsim, which I took to mean that a lot of people had been in asking... Did anyone here ask for one, perchance?

Sorry I didn't make that clear, it's a fiver on a 30 day rolling contract but fr path 3 actually give you free Internet on payg so it's better than t-mobile :)

A couple questions - and you could be a star! :p

So you can get one as long as you've pre-ordered for home delivery OR Reserved at an Apple store? :)

Secondly, did they have Pay Monthly and Pay as you Go Micro SIMs? Or just one kind?...

Thanks!

Went into phones 4 u today and put down a £5 after being told it was fully refundable regardless of whether i purchase, and that it'd keep one for me and no one could buy. they then printed me off a receipt which said it was 1st come 1st serve.

What idiots!

For online gaming you would need a decent amount of data, 3 would be best and they will be the best for iPhone 4 tariffs definitely. No chance of early delivery, best bet is to go to the store early :), and the White bumper would look best :)

Phones4u are taking £5 deposits as they are guaranteeing the pre-orders for launch day, and matching stock to the amount of pre-orders they are taking.. I've called around at least 7 stores locally and they are all saying the same thing.

I've checked over and over and over again and they are saying that an iPhone 4 will be guaranteed for launch day.

Also they are taking pre-orders for the 32GB but I they have all told me they are not taking pre-orders for the white iPhones!

It's a con. If you do it, they give you a piece of paper which says you're not guarenteed to get one, and they'll sell 1st come 1st serve.

The £5 is refundable though, so I took a punt just incase.

could you link me as i cant find the 30 rolling plan... with unlimited data.

and are you sure their cap is 3gb? i think that will suffice.

But im not sure that i can get it before the 24th which is a shame...

edit: yes i am getting it sim free :D

edit 2: can u get pwned for chopping up your sim so it is microsim size? or using a sim(which wasnt for use with an iphone) which was microsimmed to use in an iphone? i wouldnt like to be pwned by a carrier...

yep that is correct but for the second bit. . .micro sim
is exactly the same as a normal just the size so you would just contact the network for tariffs

bit confused again now. T-mobiles is £20 for six months unlimited data not £20 per month

I have done the same thing. The only thing that says its first come first serve is the pre-registration form they gave with the receipt. I was assured that one would be kept away for me. I phoned around 7 local stores and each said that this guarantees the stock for you
