Bit random but I've reserved two 32gb black iPhones at Trafford. Center Apple Store. One for myself and one for my girlfriend. Turns out I may have to process my upgrade at an o2 store because I'm terminating early.

So...would I be able to transfer my reservation to someone else who turned up at the store with no reservation if I didn't need it?

Is it possible to just walk into a store a few days after launch and be able to buy one? Or are they most likely going to be out of stock?

No, if you've reserved it.

Thanks, I was just concerned because on the email it says "Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis."

Same here, with natwest - ordered with a visa debit.

A few weeks ago I was in the same position with the iPad. I have a NatWest Visa debit card also. Money disappeared straight away and was returned about three days later. Had me worried. I did phone them to be sure everything would be ok. The money finally disappeared from my account the day before my iPad arrived.

I'm similar to you and going for the early upgrade by paying off my remaining months - have you been told this has to be done at an o2 store?

I'm all confused and I was wondering if someone could help.

I have an iPhone out of contract and I'm currently on a rolling contract using O2 Simplicity for iPhone (a 30-day rolling contract).

I would like to get a new iPhone 4G and I have reserved one in my local Apple Store.

I would like to take out a new contract (18 months) and cancel my current 30-day rolling contract. How do I do this? Do I simply sign myself up for a contract in the Apple Store with O2?

Do I need to buy one from an O2 store? How likely would I be to get one going into an O2 store at 9am on launch day?
YOu can sign up for a contract in any applestore.

Pre-auth, I'm sure is them taking money out, and placing it back in - aka you've pre-ordered. Your iPhone should arrive by the 2nd of July if you ordered it on the 16th.

must be the way some banks go about it, nothing to worry about then :)

Cheers all

No it goes to the next in queue at the applestore unless you are willing to buy it sim free.

I hope that's what happening to ours..

Is it running an iPAD data contract? Or did you just port to a blank sim?

Seeing no reason and working in the mobile communications industry for 10 years are clearly two different things.....

Will Apple stores still be open to normal business? I'm contemplating buying an iPad on Thursday afternoon after a meeting (getting the iPhone beforehand) but will the stores be iPhone only for a day? Hopefully I'd be able to skip the queues for the phone!

Yeah there were different queues for the iPad, so i'd assume so for the iPhone too.

However I have now noticed my iPad has a dent  No idea how that has happened.

Yes they are and yes you will.

I love when people speak so condescendingly about things they have not bothered to research:

I guess we'll find out on Thursday for sure, but several people have successfully swapped their current sim onto an unactivated iPad microsim and are successfully used it for voice calls and texts.

How do you think Apple will stop it from working in an iPhone 4? Details would be good.

So you have it working in an iPhone4 do you?

Pics would be great ;)

iPhone. I didn't say it didn't work in the iPhone 4 or any other phone. There is no reason why it should fail to work in the iPhone 4.

If it works fine in a current phone, I see no reason at all to assume it won't work fine in a new one too.

Exactly.

surely even if he has a micro sim with an adaptor working in an iphone 3gs.....surely that means it will work in iphone 4 too? i dunno i'm no expert.

What I'm saying. The probability of this happening is quite low. In fact, if it doesn't work in the iPhone 4, then it shouldn't be working in my phone now, and O2 shouldn't have been ok with me transferring my stuff onto the new micro-SIM.

I ported to a blank SIM, obviously. I've always upheld that porting to a currently-active iPad SIM could have issues. Please tell us how the iPhone would unrecognise the micro-SIM though, given that it is, technically an iPad SIM.

i know people are debating whether ipad sims will work in iphone 4.....but i have another question.....what about the other way round...will the microsims with the iphone work with the ipad?? i'm debating getting an ipad as well but i dont wanna have 2 seperate data plans.
