Standing in line on the 24th without pre-order?

Does anyone know if there's a chance of getting an iPhone 4 (SIMfree) without a pre-order, just by standing in line at an Apple Store on the 24th?

If you ordered no other things, and just the iPhone, then you're likely on Fast Shippin (EMEA), which means you bypass all of that, and it comes straight from the factory. (That's what fast shipping is, according to an Apple Rep).

You don't bypass all that. It still needs to go from the factory in Shenzhen to the Hong Kong airport - at which point you receive your tracking reference.

This is what happened for my iPad, which was also on Fast Shipping.

Very useful thank you :)

I ordered mine through apple. What do you think my chances are of getting O2 to give me a micro-sim for my current contract in advance?

If you go into an o2 shop from Monday and show them your pre-order email they should give you one. There is information on the o2 site.

I just asked in my local O2 shop about getting a micro sim and they said they cannot give them out until the 24th

I will try the store near work tomorrow.

there is no reason why they can't give you a sim card

lol fair does where d'you work by the way? don't need to answer on here mind, its quite public lol and by the way its sunday mayyyyyn, ahaha I know but I heard the Apple store is giving the best answers, even for the micro sims and they aren't even the network, mad times! lol ahhh nope mate nearest store to me is in Manchester which is 30 miles from where I am (Preston) I pre-ordered mine so should be delivered on the 24th :)

I was gonna PM you but don't think you can on here! :(

There is a link to a list of o2 stores that are opening at 08:02. I assume shops not listed are opening as usual. Might be best to call your local shop.

I noticed my nearest O2 store (Tottenham Hale Retail Park) is not listed and figured this means it is seen as a less busy store by head office and is therefore opening at normal business hours. From past experience it has never been mega busy. What do people think? Same question to any O2 employees on the this thread.

IN a number of other threads, people have mentioned being hit 'view all reservations' on a local Apple store page and seeing your iPhone reservation for Thurs. All of the people have been USA dwellers and I was wondering if this can be done on the UK store pages too? Any chance people could check for me?
Thanks in advance.

p.s: I'm under the impression that those 'check reservations' were purely for those appointment types below (which, by simply reserving an iPhone 4 we wouldn't have booked).

Just called the Apple Manchester arndale store and asked if there will be stock set aside for those who didn't reserve and if you can sign up for carriers in store and get the subsidized phone price.
She said there will be stock for people walking in from the street, but they'll sell out early so get there asap and you can sign up with the carrier in the apple store.

Sticking with O2 as I can't be doing with all the PAC code nonsense. I'm told with 3 it's a case of good network but ***** customer support. O2 have definitely improved the network in north London in recent months. Now get 3G on most of my train journey to Liverpool Street from Seven Sisters (tottenham).

Feel the same way as you, have been researching 3g coverage endlessly and will stick with o2 as moving is a hassle - better the devil you know!

Have been put off 3 by their poor CS reputation and the fact that somebody here has been repeatedly plugging them.

Hmm, what time are they opening?

I thought about going to Trafford but the Arndale would be so much easier with the rail networks

8am instead of 10am.
She said something about the arndale opening but couldn't hear her.
I plan on getting one on contract and one, hopefully white, pay as you go.

I'll probably in Manchester at 7AM in that case! May as well make a day of it seeing as I've not been into the city since Uni finished weeks ago :)

If they don't have any left when I get there I'ma cry!

So, will it be the main doors by Greggs that open dya reckon?

All of the shops I went into told me they're not getting it for launch. 3 are only getting the 3gs for launch day, and T-Mobile / others due to follow in July...

So that's probably why they've not got pricing out yet

Thanks

yep that's right, virgin media are still in talks but wouldn't really expect anything ground breaking from them. vodafone, orange and o2 have announced their prices, pretty much similar. 3 are announcing theirs sometime next week, but they might have their stock delayed till the start of July. T-mobile will launch the phone in July and no news on tesco, but my guess is that 3 will have the best price plan but we will have to wait a little :)

Thanks

Yes and no. Tomorrow seems the day for the rest. 3 expected to have most competitive deal because they are playing catch up. Tesco might be interesting g offer given their deep pockets but going by previous offering probably nothing scintillating. Sticking with O2 as I can't be doing with all the PAC code nonsense. And thanks :D

If 3 are doing a good deal then I might have to wait and see, as my cousin works for 3 so I can get 25% off, also she would be my first port of call for customer service so I would have no problems in that respect :) What is their network like?
