If, and it seems a very likely if, the VAT is raised to 20%+ on Tuesday, is it possible the pre-reserved people will have to pay extra? (at 20% VAT, the 16gb would be around £508, by my poor calculations).

I read my pre-reserved email but I can't see anything that states the price I reserved at, is the price I pay on the day...

I wouldn't - there is a reason why they are luring people with more data - they have to because their 3G service is nowhere near as good as 3, O2, or Orange.

It must be shocking if O2's 3G network is better. I find O2's virtually unusable in most places. I'm under the impression that Vodafone is better.

Hey guys. I've use the forum as a resouce for quite sometime now but this whole iPhone 4 bussiness has finally drawn me out of the woodwork as I can't find an answer anywhere else. I'm planning to get my iPhone 4 from the LiverpoolONE store on launch day but, due to having being abroad, I HAVEN'T reserved. Is there stock for those who, like me, haven't reserved or am I totally scuppered? I am prepared (and I fact was planning to) wait in line from the wee hours (between 4am - 6am onwards) if neccessary but if there isn't even stock passed reserved stock then I don't wanna waste my time if you get me. I would contact the apple store directly but I am STILL abroad. Any help would be great!

Thanks

Yes, there is stock for walk-in purchases, but no-one knows how much. Get there early is the best advice.

All the Apple stores have sold out of Reserved iPhone's, but the word on the street is that they will have seperate stocks allocated for people on the day. However, they're likely to be minimal, so my personal advice is to arrive as early as possible to increase your chances.

think you were conned there as you dont have to go on an iphone tariff unless you are taking out a new iphone contract, upgrading TO iphone or just choose to!

well to be honest i was only on 500 meg.....but now i'm on unlimited...(fair usage of 750) so i guess i will use more data on an iphone so prob worth it.......although i really just wanted any working microsim for when it arrived....i can always shop around for better deals later.

Thanks very much. Obviously early as possible is a relative term ;) haha. I hope 5am cuts it : /

Just like the 3G.

I got mine from the Apple store 2 days after it was released. Just walked in, picked it up and out in 20/30 mins cause of slow activation.

I'd imagine if you started queing at 4am you would stand a fairly high chance of getting one. I'm sure there will be a few set to one side for walk in purchases. However no one knows this for sure (not even the apple staff who work in these stores know how many they will be getting) My advice is to get there nice and early.

I know this has probably been answered like 10 times before, but I cant see the answer. Sorry :)

Just looking for a confirmation.

Friend of mine has just finished an 18 month 02 contract with his 3g. He has a iphone 4 16gb reserved at the apple store. He does not want to continue his £35 a month contract, but instead want to go for the 24 month o2 contract.

Can he upgrade to a 24 month contract on the day? or will he be considered a "new customer" (because its a "new" contract) and o2 have said that its existing customers only.

or does the "existing customers only" not apply to the apple stores?

id love to work for apple.....id enjoy all the hype that goes into these launches and seeing the people in the morning would be great.....

if only they paid a little more id be applying now!!!!! :(

How much do they actually pay? I did a quick Google search this morning but it seemed to be shrouded in secrecy... (especially for the Apple Creative roles)

Twitter Hashtag?

Anyone know of any hashtags that are going to be used on twitter for the launch morning?

may I suggest #iP4Launch ?

I just don't get how their can be a shortage tbh, Apple are not new to the market and will have a good idea on how to predict the sales figures for this quarter with the new iPhone 4. To me, its only done for that Sky News Headline - "Apple iPhone 4 SELLS OUT!! on day of release" to be honest its a joke and at our expense! There should have been loads more available for people to pre-order and we shouldn't be sat here having to even consider camping out over night just to get our hands on the new phone.

Not impressed on how Apple has handled this..... :(

And before anyone says "Guess this guy didn't get his pre-order" I actually didn't Pre-order because I want my iPhone direct fro T-Mobile on my upgrade day :)

They could have delayed launch to have more ready for launch day, would you prefer that?

He is an existing customer and he is just extending his contract/changing tariff on contract so he should be ok :) the existing customer applies at o2, don't think it applies at apple store but it shouldn't matter because from what I can see, he would be counted as an existing customer :)
