I just spoke to 02 and the lady said she was told she was told the iPhone 4 isn't out until July and no idea when we can pre order!

It never ceases to amaze me how utterly clueless employees of these companies really are. Trained monkeys could do better.

Just like the people in the shops, you shouldn't listen to the people answering the phones either. They never have any idea what they're talking about.

a couple of weeks ago me and the other half went into orange to ask them about his contract, which ran out and is just rolling on month by month now.
they asked him if he wanted to upgrade, and he said no, and that he was going to wait untill the new iphone was released.

the man in orange said... there wasnt going to be a new iphone and it was only a new OS coming out.

i replied with 'i would say that too if i was trying to get rid of all my 3gs stock before the iphone 4 launch'

and proceeded to walk out lol. surely if you work in a phone shop... you're gonna keep up to date with the releases of new phones! even just the rumours of them!

Usually the shops can get away with this because most people don't check all the rumours, but the iPhone 4 leak was on the mainstream news so they failed there.

You would of thought so but it doesn't work this way I'm afraid.

mate of mine works for 02, and he knew nothing nor did is branch manager about the iPhone until it was released by Apple and then the manager attended a meeting the next day to be brought up to date on it.

Same I was told that pre orders are for apple not o2 and they don't know when they're getting it

With all the people ringing O2 (and the other networks) and either getting the "check the website" story or speaking to someone who doesn't have a clue, I don't get why they don't just get on with it and make the announcement!

Make the announcement and stick it on your website. That'll stop the customer service lines being clogged up by people asking, and then maybe their own employees with have a vague idea of what's happening!

I work in Carphone and I refused to sell 3GS in the last week due to the iPhone 4, it secured me customers due to me giving them advise on the situation. Already had calls today asking when I'll be working after the 24th so I can sell them it

Good job! Better than the people I've seen the Apple Stores who tell customers that there is no new iPhone...

use email instead of MMS

why the hell do people pay for the rip off MMS when you have free data so can send nice big full res pictures than the 'one pixel for a face' crap that is MMS, even on payandgo its cheaper to send an email than it is a MMS when you dont have a data addon

Serious question? A MMS goes to the persons phone straight away, just like a text message. If you send an email, unless it goes to one of the tiny minority who have email set up on their phone so it comes through straight away, they may not get it for many hours, for example until they check their mail at home.

Clearly you need to buy iPhone 4s for all of your friends! Problem solved! ;)

Looks like we will have to guess the price on purchase at this bloody rate.

Am I the only one Doing This? (with 02)

Upgrading my current sim only contract to a (if pricing stays the same) £40/month 24 contract, so only having to pay £179 for the 32GB, and trading in my old handset, giving me about £30 off, so a total of £149, then dropping my tariff to £35 after 9 month by ringing 02, seems to be n my view, the best way of going about it.

sounds like a plan, apart from the 30 quid off thing, i'm sure i could flog it for more

Did the 3GS PAYG get released on launch day or was it sometime after? Anyone think that the iphone4 will be available on PAYG on launch day this time around?

I just spoke to 02 and the lady said she was told the iPhone 4 isn't out until July and no idea when we can pre order!

I just spoke to Vodafone and the man told me that they won't get the phone until July and we certainly won't be able to preorder until 24th June.

I do hope this bloke was just clueless, but it's not the first time that I've heard that the phone won't be available until July.

I paid no attention to the PAYG prices when the original/3g/3gs came out - only contract so i have NO idea what they will be... how much was a PAYG
32gb 3GS when it came out?

Not sure but i'm also waiting for the contract prices.

My guess is that everyone is waiting on everyone else. Once one network sets their pricing the others will do so within hours. Its just a case of who is going to be first.

PAYG prices for the 3G and 3GS upon their respective PAYG releases were:

3G 8GB: £349.99
3G 16GB: £399.99

3GS 16GB: £440.40
3GS 32GB: £538.30

I hate it say it but I think the iPhone 4 will be £479 for 16GB, maybe even £499 :/
