just had a phone call from o2

i was allowed to preorder by phone, my new iphone 4 will arrive thursday by dhl

got to say really loving o2 service this time, totally on the ball.

Could you confirm what is written on the packaging please?

I want to know if I will be able to move my pay-monthly (Simplicity) contract onto that microsim.

This is the packaging from O2. The sim also has 3FF1 after the serial number.

My specialised O2 blue sim ejector tool is not included i’m afraid, i will take orders though :p

If this is true then Three better pull their fingers out with their tarrifs or there won't be any customers left for them to poach.

Picked up Micro sim, filled out form on O2 website, popped new sim in iPhone within 10 mins up and running on new sim.

Is there any word from O2 on tethering on the new iPhone tariffs? I can't find any information.

I can't see how they can justify charging extra now that you are buying a set amount of data off them every month rather than "unlimited".

I'm trying to decide whether to buy SIM-free from Apple and stick with my £20 Simplicity iPhone contract (600 minutes, unlimited data), or get a new contract with their new iPhone tariffs. Over 2 yrs I'd save about £100 going the new contract route but that would be with less minutes and 500Mb data. At the moment I'm probably going to go with the SIM-free option but if O2 were to confirm they won't charge for tethering on the new iPhone tariffs that would swing me back to signing a new contract.

(Oh and I just picked up a Micro SIM from the O2 store on Fenchurch St. London if that helps anyone. You'll need your reservation email.)

Nice try.

"On 24 June, iPhone 4 will be available in O2 shops, as well as Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Phones4U and Apple stores.

"Some O2 Stores will be open early on the 24 June. See here for a full list of opening times.

"iPhone 4 will not be available on the o2.co.uk online shop until at least the end of July."

3GS to MicroSim

Just to add to what's already been said.

Picked up a MicroSim pack from O2 (Glasgow, Buchanan Street) today. Staff knew about thhem, checked my pre-order confirmation and handed it over.

Transferred my 3GS (expires Dec 2010) to it via the form on the website in about ten minutes. Now sitting working happily in my 3GS (still in the full size press out, no separate adaptor) waiting for Thursday.

Despite the experience of many, I've found both Apple and O2 to be well organised during since pre order day.

Any angst I've felt has come from reading this thread!

No, this is one i picked up from my local O2 store today, will see if i get any in the post tomorrow and if they’re any different.

Thank you :).

If they are different, could you PM me as well as post on here? I'm off to work now, and by the time I get back there will be another 300-400 posts to wade through :p

i knew you wouldnt believe me

try phoning them, certain platinum customers ARE getting phone calls

more will post about this for sure, then you can apologise for calling me a liar!!!

jealousy will get you know where, i am a loyal o2 customer, have been for years

BUT i will still have to q for my sons on Thursday as he isnt one of the selected customers..

ITS TRUE

i am no bs' er, !!

try calling them yourself, o2 platinum are aware, they only got told an hour ago..

The reason I am highlighting this is because I have been unable to get a reply from O2 confirming that the change of Sim is not an upgrade. It's one thing getting someone to say that it's not an upgrade, it's another thing getting in writing.

Is there anyone reading this that has something in writing clearly stating that a sim swap is not considered an upgrade or that it won't effect their existing contract?

I don't think anyone can provide you explicit wording of this in a contract. In my opinion it is just common sense.

What if you were in a situation where you lost or damaged your sim and needed to transfer your number to a new one? Would that mean you are renewing your contract? I do not think so.

I think it is entirely possible that people are being told that they cannot get a microsim unless they upgrade their contract in order to force you onto a more lucrative (for them) deal or just out of plain ignorance.

In my experience I was able to downgrade to a simplicity deal and get a microsim without any hassle whatsoever.

Got mine from the one on Old Broad Street, near Liverpool Street.

Thanks for the tip. Saved me walking round the City on a mission. I was in and out with a new microsim in less than five minutes as the guy was clued-up.

How & when?

Whatever he's done, he hasn't ordered an iPhone 4. I just spoke to my best friend who is a store manager, and he said iPhone 4 isn't even in their system yet, and it will only be available in-stores on 24 June.

Nice try, but don't believe the hype.

i got a call from this number 08452930000

then called o2 platinum to confirm and organise micro sim , that is being sent out tomorrow.

its TRUE !!!

You've been conned mate. That number is registered to an overseas company that charges. They're a German company that manages online catalogies for companies like Grattan.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone who reordered from apple's online store has their iPhone 4 order "packaged" or "dispatched like the Americans are getting.

Cheers!
