Also remember for those on Contracts, the monthly amount will increase.

£40 a month becomes £40.85 a month.

Thats an extra £15.30 over the 18 months.

Except you'll be 6 months in so you pay 20% on the last 12 months £10.20

Just went in to my local Phones4u and with a £5 deposit, pre-ordered a 16gb iPhone 4! I've ordered it in White, and the shop assistant said they would have white, but I'm not too confident in that one...!

Also, after pre-ordering I popped into the o2 store just over the road, and said I had just pre-ordered from P4U, and asked for a micro-sim but apparently only people who have ordered from Apple can have them, so I'm hoping P4U will have them (or one will arrive in the post from o2!)

You're out of luck. They're not going to get White and thus you won't have one on Thursday. I had the same prob and ended up reserving a black as they said if I reserve white, they wont get a black instead for me.

I ordered the 64GB* version earlier....happy days! :D

*may not be true and very likely impossible that Phones4U are the only company in the world getting white phones

I hope you all can see what you've done now! Yes, I didn't much fancy Brown, but by throwing the votes away to the Lib-dem, we've elected a government that will ruin our recovery. I've got to figure out any long-term capital purchases I intend to make and effect them before January 4. Alternatively, it's becoming increasingly viable to make cheap international travels just so one can go through airports for duty free shopping on items such as macbooks.

FTR, I didn't actually vote, as I was on honeymoon at the time.

The 2.5% increase won't have a massive effect anyway. £15 on a £600 iPhone isn't really significant. And that's the key point - the cuts announced today won't help. The approx. £50 billion savings they made will be largely cancelled out by the interest (£32 billion) on the deficit in the next year.

The ConDems have pulled a fast one on us here, preparing us for a ruthless emergency budget, then actually not doing much. But I guess this is just a cover for the massive public sector cuts (unannounced) they'll be making all the while.

And yes, buying gadgets on trips to the States is the way forward. That's where I got my iPad!

I can't tell if ur joking :p

it's likely impossible that they will be the only company to get white iPhone 4's (for launch that is)... DEFINITELY impossible that they will be the only company (including apple) to sell 64 GB iPhone 4's, haha

Okay... before anyone tells me that I'm an idiot for not getting the joke (or at least before i see anyone tell me) I just got it... haha, I am such an idiot :p

hmm guys.

Just done some maths.

I either pay nigh on £1400 over 18 months for the iPhone 4. Thats on the £40 tariff with my £15 insurance and a £220 early upgrade offer and the price of the handset which is £119.

OR

I buy a PAYGO handset, carry on with existing tariff which is 1200 mins + unlimited data for the same monthly cost and that costs a few hundred pounds less but I have to shell out £500.

Which would you guys do?

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone happens to have a spare reservation for Cardiff?
I'm going to be queuing up bright and early on Thursday, but I haven't got a phone reserved.

If anyone is able to help me out please PM me.

Thanks.

Just been to my local vodafone shop to see what the crack is with pre orders now.

He told me they aren't allowed to do pre orders due to apple not allowing it

its first come first served

they are expecting 5 handsets :(

I can see its going to be difficult to get hold of one of these for a while. I've just spoken to a friend who's brother works at an apple shop to see what the crack is with stock for people who haven't pre ordered.

Just back from the O2 shop in Swansea... got my micro sim without any problems... they asked if I had ordered from Apple, I said yes, and they got me the sim without having to show my order confirmation. They were going to give me a pay month sim, but spotted the error before leaving the shop.

Just waiting now for the switch.

I was considering a move to Orange, but experience with O2 has been positive so far with a lot more information than the others. Still no real information about new SIM only plans with Orange.

I'll phone them and check. If this is true, it's very poor on P4U's part, as taking money for a deposit only to find they dont have the item, THEN cancel the pre-order altogether isn't good at all.

How legit are the phones4u deposit placeholders?

Does this mean a handset on Thursday? How do they take the payment? Simple names on a bit paper or is there a proper process in place?

Mine's not been updated yet, ordered at 8:20am GMT on the 15th.
BUT, the cancel and edit links are now greyed out, so it seems that things are finally moving along :)

My mate works for Vodafone in out local town store, he states they are expecting on 10 handsets. No idea if thats 5 16gb & 5 32gb, he states they are going to be kept for Contract Buyers too. So if I was first in line and wanted it on PAYG they wouldn't sell me one :(
