hmm guys.

Just done some maths.

I either pay nigh on £1400 over 18 months for the iPhone 4. Thats on the £40 tariff with my £15 insurance and a £220 early upgrade offer and the price of the handset which is £119.

OR

I buy a PAYGO handset, carry on with existing tariff which is 1200 mins + unlimited data for the same monthly cost and that costs a few hundred pounds less but I have to shell out £500.

Which would you guys do?

well, do you have the £500 to put up front? if you do i think you should go sim free and buy from apple, its saving you about £200 and you get a pretty decent resale value after 12 months if thats what you decide to do...

FTR, I didn't actually vote, as I was on honeymoon at the time.

The 2.5% increase won't have a massive effect anyway. £15 on a £600 iPhone isn't really significant. And that's the key point - the cuts announced today won't help. The approx. £50 billion savings they made will be largely cancelled out by the interest (£32 billion) on the deficit in the next year.

The ConDems have pulled a fast one on us here, preparing us for a ruthless emergency budget, then actually not doing much. But I guess this is just a cover for the massive public sector cuts (unannounced) they'll be making all the while.

And yes, buying gadgets on trips to the States is the way forward. That's where I got my iPad!

you know nothing you dont pay off debts by not cutting needless spending if they cut nothing they would have to spend £50billion and then the £32billion interest making us spend minimum £82billion - and that is NOT how any sane person would try to control their own debts and it translates the same to contry level

number ONE priority if you are in debt is try and GET THE DAMN OUT OF DEBT!

now we should seriously shut up about politics otherwise people will come out looking worse than the incessant apple/ android or othewise fanboys that know nothing but think they know everything but are actually blind idiots

The o2 swap was easy as. Walked into the Westfield store in london, showed them my Booking confirmation e-mail from Apple and got my Micro Sim. 5 min here http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/ and done. Just do not pop our your micro sim till you have your new iphone 4.

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone happens to have a spare reservation for Cardiff?
I'm going to be queuing up bright and early on Thursday, but I haven't got a phone reserved.

If anyone is able to help me out please PM me.

Thanks.

If the iPhone reservation list is the same as the iPad Priority List then the reservee will need to provide ID to collect the phone.

How legit are the phones4u deposit placeholders?

Does this mean a handset on Thursday? How do they take the payment? Simple names on a bit paper or is there a proper process in place?

I had to pay a £5 deposit, and they took my details on their system, so seems OK, apart from the phone colour issues...

Well I have a 16GB 3GS which I can sell and i can afford the £500 because I get paid that day anyway!

I could sell my 3GS and then I seems good value really.

Well if the second option is cheaper over the period you will keep the phone then obviously that one! Can never understand people who go for a cheap price up front and then up spending 100's more over time on expensive monthly costs.

Couple of other things to consider;
- Can you recoup some money by selling your current phone?
- £15 a months seems a lot for insurance. ie. i pay £10 per month to my bank for travel and phone insurance and AA cover.

Ah, just checked the US site for shipment status and it says prepared, so check there if it doesn't say so on the UK one.

My mate works for Vodafone in out local town store, he states they are expecting on 10 handsets. No idea if thats 5 16gb & 5 32gb, he states they are going to be kept for Contract Buyers too. So if I was first in line and wanted it on PAYG they wouldn't sell me one :(

He's no real mate then :p

St David's centre cardif

For everyone picking one up at Cardiff the centre is opening the entrance on Tredegar street which is the John Lewis side. Also, the centres car park will be open so apple shop will be less than 100 yards from my car. No chance of me being robbed!

Mine too!

I wonder thought if that has been like that for a few days already?

And for the record, I used my Amex and it says "AMEE"
