What is the chance that an iPhone that's to ship prior to July 2nd, ships before the end of June?
I would say that no one has a clue but if you want my guess then I'd say highly likely. You might see it shipped on about 26th or 26th June but (and it's a big but), that'll be shipped from China. All the 24th phones are pretty obviously somewhere in a European hub to dispatch soon for a coordinated delivery on 24th but the stragglers (e.g. July 2nd deliveries) have no need to all arrive on the same day so might well be handled like my iPad was and ship directly from the factory in China.

The above is all total guesswork on my part but really that's all you'll get here, theories and guesses - no one knows. We don't even know for sure when the ones due for delivery on Thursday will ship (tonight? tomorrow morning? tomorrow evening?).

Who knows .... but you're obviously in the same batch as me. It would be great, but I'm not laying any bets. If it ships/gets delivered on the quoted days, I'll be happy !

No they don't. "not yet shipped" means "we've received your order but we don't have any stock yet" or "we've received your order but we're all too drunk to process it".

"prepared for shipment" means they've got the stock, put it in a box and slapped a stamp on it :p

Cobblers. You think there's a little bloke who magically detects your viewing of the US site and puts a stamp on it, then removes it again as soon as you flick back to the UK site? It's little more than a regional difference in webpage content.

Ok i got my new micro-sim from O2 and want to setup my new sim card. I want to know how do i take the contacts stored on my sim and put them onto my new sim card so that i can still use my new micro-sim with an adapter in other phones and still have my contacts with me!?

I know itunes will prob sync contacts to my new iPhone 4 but want to have them on my sim. Just afraid that when i activate micro-sim and the other one is dead then i will lose all my sim saved numbers

iPhone, like most other phones nowadays, doesn't store contacts on sim anymore, sim's are too limited nowadays for this use as contacts lists, only having name/phone no field. Well, technically I think microsims now do support more, but it's a bit late.

Does anyone know whether we can actually cut the standard SIM to use in iPhone 4 as micro-sim? Cos I will go travelling soon, got the oversea Standard SIM card, rang the oversea network provider they dont have a clue what is micro-sim

Apparently I just gave it a go to ask an Apple expert on Apple chat, she said the chip inside the phone 4 is actually different so it will not work? Please correct me if I(or she) is wrong.

Well just to keep you all updated, my 11:20am-on-the-morning-their-website-went-down order of a 32GB Black with MobileMe still shows absolutely no progress to "Prepared for Shipping" or whatever. My delivery address is West London so I'm assuming if it comes early then it's already practically here and just waiting to get loaded on a delivery van. Alternatively, it's going to start tomorrow and arrive on Thursday.

I've just come back from an Apple Store. I asked what do I need to
bring with me if I've reserved an iPhone 4 and the chap asked what
type of phone was I after (contract etc), I said "sim-free", he said
just bring money. Upon hearing the word "money" I asked could
that be cash and not necessarily a card and he said "yes".

Didn't ask about email confirmation.

Cheers mate..Will take my cash in hand!!

Well it categorically does work with the iPad's microsim slot, so I don't see why it wouldn't on the iPhone. I doubt she'd know something that hasn't got out by other means by now, but you never know...

It will work. :)

Hey everyone. I have an iPhone reserved for pickup on Thurs and am going to renew my contract in-store. I'm on Orange and am hearing really mixed things about obtaining a micro-SIM.

Does anyone know how I can get my hands on an Orange micro-SIM? Some apple technicians are saying they will be able to give me one in store and that they'll call Orange from there and transfer my number across and some are saying they won't be able to do it on the day.

Orange say they're not giving out any micro-SIMs and their stores will not stock any on the 24th... I have no idea whats going on... :(

Anyone? Help would be much appreciated :)

Store Activation

Hi,

I've made a reservation in an Apple Retail Store (UK), but they say they'll set up and activate my iPhone for me -- but would it still be possible for me to just leave with the sealed box if I wanted to open and set it up myself?

Or do Apple insist on doing the activation for you?

Thanks :)

Can we order them on Vodafone yet?

No, Vodafone seem to be keeping quiet about the whole thing.

But it should end up on this page when they change their mind, you can also Register for Updates to be emailed when they do.

As for the micro SIM, you can just turn up to a Vodafone store on Thursday and they'll sort you out (subject to stock), as far as I know.

Early Upgrade with o2

I have pre ordered a new iPhone 4 from the apple store but I am currently a o2 contract holder with a iPhone 3GS. I qualify for the early upgrade offer and start a new contract thing with u2, I am just wondering will u be able to do the early upgrades in the apple store or do I have to risk it in u2 if non available buy the aim free and flog the 3GS on eBay etc!! Help thanks

Was on the avforums site and saw that a few people had been able to pre-order. Thought I'd give it a try, nothing to lose and was gobsmacked when I (eventually) got to speak to a customer services person and was offered the upgrade there and then.

They did say they had no white phones.

Whoop Whoop ! Finally got through after 38 mins and got my 32gb ordered for delivery on Friday :) Thanks for the heads up fella. :)
