Dont worry about it, the only difference between the sims is the amount of plastic! Watch this video to see how easy it is. I cut my tmobile & giffgaff sim down tonite and they work fine

Thanks to simon69c for recommending giffgaff to me. I received my sim within a couple of days and have now activated it. (& thanked simon69c as the referer). I have also cut the sim down by using the O2 microsim card as a template as seen in the video above.

For anybody buying a simfree iPhone I really recommend you consider giffgaff. They are now the only network offering unlimited data, from £10 a month.

The PAYG rates are brilliant too compared to the other networks

giffgaff runs on the O2 network, so if O2 coverage is good for you give them a try (and stick it to O2, who I am myself leaving in disgust)

If you do get a giffgaff sim, please use ayzee as your referral code, thanks :)

Hey Thanks for the link, its great.

What worried me was this link: http://www.johnbenson.net/How_to_Co..._a_SIM_to_a_MicroSIM_with_a_Meat_Cleaver.html

The micro-sim in this one look actually different and they even cut off the Chip

They didn't cut off the chip, just some of the unused contacts that go to the chip, the chip itself is only in the centre of the contact area.

OH really... I see, thats great! I might need to practice before I will brave enough to cut my one and the only oversea SIM card.

Thanks!

Its starting to look like they'll be overnighting the phones as from tomorrow morning to get to us on Thurs me thinks

I think they'll overnight tonight - get most of them done tomorrow and the rest done on thursday, just like the ipad (and yes i know that wasnt a worldwide release but giving american customers theirs 2 days early means that isn't much of an issue)

has anyone on here received an order conformation email from apple about there iPhone's being sent for delivery or are we all stuck with not yet shipped?

i might just go to my local o2 shop on thursdays and buy one

Most people's say 'prepared for dispatch' when they sign in through the US Apple Store, but no signs of anyone having had a dispatch e-mail just yet.

I noticed mine said 'prepared for shipment' earlier, then I logged back in just now to order some headphones and was a little worried when it said 'not yet shipped'. Looks like I accidentally must have logged into the US store as it does indeed say that there but not on the UK store.

Have followed a lot of this thread but with the sheer size of it may have missed this. Could someone tell me if they are in the same boat as me so to speak or can see any reason why I couldn't do the following:

I have sold my 3GS and got about £250. I am currently obviously halfway through a 2 year contract. So I figure I have two options if I want to stay with o2....
1. Add £250 to the £250 I got and pick up a sim-free iPhone 4 and use my existing contract sim in it for another year when i will be due an upgrade, sell the iPhone 4 and get my money back and then probably upgrade to the iPhone 5 with a new contract.
2. Pay the o2 early upgrade fee and start a new contract.

My thoughts are that although number 1 has an initial up front cost I should recoup this next year if my 3gs resale value is anything to go by. Just not sure if its as easy as it sounds???? Any reason why I couldn't do this????

well thats weird, youll get it on thusday if not before :) grab a beer and relax, let UPS do the hard work tonight

im not going to cancel it, it will come when it comes, but unfortunately i'm too impatient to wait for apple and UPS to the pull there finger out and do something so i'm going to the o2 shop on thursday bright and early and just gonna walk in and buy one, and then sell the other one when it arrives (if it ever does). should look on ebay at the prices there going for it mad, so who knows might get my money back with a little extra to cover the cost of the one i brought in the o2 shop.

If you upgrade and sign for another 18months/2years, you are going to be in exactly the same position next June for the iPhone 5. If you have the money buy sim free and don't lock yourself into a contract. There are so many networks offering the iPhone now you would be stupid to stay loyal to any carrier for longer than 12 months.

Thanks for the reply. That was my thought on the matter. I think I will just have to stump up the cash for it which means I will have more freedom next year and not be locked in like you say. Cheers.
