Just tried the online store chat thing on Apple.com's UK site, asked if we could swap capacity on our reservations in-store, I was told that we can?!

This goes straight against what I was told on the phone. The lady on the website said that the reservation's are just for an iPhone 4, not for the capacity you selected specifically.

The billing info received is nothing to be worried about. I've booked things through UPS before, and it's basically saying 'Apple have arranged for the delivery and item is ready for collection'. In essence, and I don't want you guys to get worried, but your (my) phone hasn't even been picked up by UPS. It simply means, UPS know that they are to pick up your phone and send it to you.

'big gulp' - stop watching the footie Mr. UPS!

To be honest, the online chat agents don't seem to have a clue most of the time. I'd trust what they say in store or over the phone to the store ten times more.

Carphone Warehouse St David's Cardiff....... Only have 12 iPhone4 16GB black and 4 iphone4 32GB according to a sales assistant. They also said they will not take pre-orders and won't be opening until 09:30.

While UPS still says "Billing Information Received", I did just notice that their system's just been updated with the "Reference Number(s)" including the Apple tracking number, the Apple order number and the iPhone's serial number. Doubt it's significant, but hey.

Hi guys,

new here! been following your discussion with great interest.

I need your opinion, in case you are bored.

I just got a call from phones4u telling me to come at 10:30 am tomorrow for an appointment to get the iphone4 and a new contract. I asked them if they are sure they will have one for me and they said yes.

Is it reasonable to think that they have their stock now and they would not give me an exact appointment time unless they knew for sure they had one for me?

I can either trust them or go queue at an O2 shop early in the morning just in case.

Any experience with phones4u reliability?

thanks!

Incidentally, a couple of weeks ago (when I got my O2 PAC) I was told that I could call at 8am on the day and they might be able to do me an upgrade, but I spoke to retentions today and they hadn't a clue.

She seemed pretty certain. Gonna get in the ordinary queue and then if they run out, hop over to the reservation queue and get the 16GB anyway.

If you preregistered on the CPW website then you've got a good chance of getting a call. My guess is that they'd rather sell more over the phone than in stores anyway.

Failing that just go and queue at your O2 store very early. O2 just twittered that all O2 stores will have iPhone 4s when they open tomorrow. The ones opening at 8:02 are listed here. Take a book and just sit it out. To be honest, from the sounds of what's going up in Scotland, O2 stores are pretty much the only places you've got a chance of getting an iPhone 4 tomorrow.

That's pretty much what the guy said. O2 are keeping all their stock for their own shops at first.

I did pre-register on the CPW website, but **** knows. If I need to wait then I need to wait. It's not the end of the world.

Where you seeing this?

Just don't miss the call!

Edit: BTW CPW just said the following on their Twitter feed:

#iPhone4 IMPORTANT UPDATE - For anyone who has missed a call from our sales team you will receive a callback. No need to contact :)

No just give them a ring and they'll tell you

I have rang them. They don't have them in stock yet is there excuse and they think they might be getting 4, my sister event in and saw 4 so not sure what's going on. It's a city centre store so they must be getting more.

Just had the call again from CPW offering delivery tomorrow. I declined as I've got one on order already. Hope it puts one back in the queue for someone else. :)

I am definitely going for the £35 12 months Tesco deal and getting a 32GB iPhone 4. Now just thinking whether I should drive the 30 miles to the store or order it online and get it delivered the next day?

Anyone else considering the Tesco deal? Definitely the best of the lot.

UPS's Track Shipments page.

Ah. Just figured it out. It's because my browser just logged me into UPS's website. I signed up to the site a while back for some reason. Not sure why I didn't get logged in earlier.

To clarify, the mystery number doesn't seem to be my new iPhone's serial. It just looks a lot like an Apple serial number.

Apologies for the confusion.
