I know people are saying different things but an O2 CS person just said that even if you use a 3GS iphone contract sim in your iphone4 they will know and require you to change to one for an ip4 contract therefore loosing your unlimited wi-fi.

Has anyone else heard this? Or has any actual evidence that they wouldnt be able to tell?

I'll probably ring again in a bit to speak to someone else and see what they say.

Not sure if it is true, but it is possible. Depending on what method iP4 uses for data usage, they might be able to tell. They can tell the difference when using a SIM contracted between B'berry and iPhone based on the difference between the data going via iData instead of B'berry.net. So not sure if the iP4 data will be routed differently than the previous iPhone's.

Just got off the phone with arndale store in Manchester nhe said you'll need to get there for 4am at the latest, judging by all the phone calls asking about queueing.

I know - oh well, now just have to decide whether I can wait for two weeks or so with my extremely slow 3G (which seems to have got even worse post-iOS4 update)

Yeah, the 3G doesn't seem to like iOS 4. I think there's a way of rolling back to 3.1.3, unless the features you actually get for the 3G are that much worth it.

I will say this: don't compromise on iPhone colour. Two years ago I waited an extra 6 weeks to get the white 3G cos I could only upgrade in an O2 store and they took ages to get stock. You'll regret it if you see a white phone in the wild if that's the one you want and you don't get it!

Just tried calling Carphone Warehouse, went through all the menus to check on an order then got a message saying they are closed.

They gave me a transaction ID earlier and a DHL tracking reference. Transaction ID doesn't work, but not sure if I wrote it down wrong, but DHL reference does and shows 'Parcel Picked Up" so maybe my order has gone through?

Glad I've not cancelled my Apple Reservation just yet though!

When did you place your order?

Come to papa..... :D:apple: Only, 50 miles away!

ATTENTION

Those of you wanting an iPhone 4 on PayAsYouGo, but missed the unlocked pre-orders, don't panic! Tesco have come to the rescue *chuckle*

http://direct.tesco.com/p/inc/specials/iphone/tariffs.asp

The PayGo ones aren't available atm.. But the £20 12 month contract is pretty sweet, and works out about £11 cheaper than buying the 32GB from Orange on PayGo and topping up just £10/Month for 12 months. The contract even includes 250 minutes, unlimited texts, 1GB Cellular, and Unlimited BT Openzone WiFi.

They're in limited stocks instore though, they open at 9am for the iPhone. So hurry down if you want one!

I'm slightly worried now because I could have upgraded in Phones4U tomorrow, but obviously I can't now because I upgraded with CPW.

CPW just phoned back and I've just placed an order for a 16GB, guaranteed for delivery tomorrow via DHL. Asked about peoples orders being cancelled due to shortages and the lady said it's not true. Shall see if it turns up!

Can anyone 100% confirm the carphone warehouse situation? Getting worried now!

Been following this thread since it's inception, but only just got around to/bothered to register and post!

In answer to the above. Can't answer, but I can confirm that I may or may not work for one of the networks, and the CPW opposite my store are receiving... 0 iPhone 4 stock tomorrow. Their not the smallest store either.
Certainly it would seem like stock is not what they thought it might be.

Stores that are receiving stock will have got it today though.

In other news, I'm still stuck in a holding pattern with UPS with the dreaded 'Billing Info' Received' message.

Are we sure you can change to sim-free from payg, if you chose payg when reserving? I thought it would be cheaper, but O2 arent doing payg until later. I imagine you should, as the email only mentions the molde of phone. Trying to get through to Victoria Square, bu they aren't answering.

Yes you can change between, payg, sim-free and contract. Its the handset you cant change

When did you place your order?

Either just before 12 or just before 1, they messed up my credit card details the first time and called back, so I can't be sure when exactly.

They've defiantly charged my credit card as the banks security department called to authorise the transaction.

The DHL info says the package was dropped off at LICHFIELD SERVICE CENTRE at 14:40.

ive just been looking through the posts ive missed and noticed most people are going to return the iphone back to apple and go with tesco because of the good deals, and my cousin is going to do the same but ive told him just to sell the iphone on ebay unopened for alot more instead of getting back either £499 or £599 and then go get the iphone from tesco, plus if u dont open it the buyer if hes a scammer or an idiot cant get back to you saying it doesnt match the description and cant claim the money back. but make sure u take pictures of the box unopened before u post, its just an idea for ya :)
