UPS, from Dewsbury depot (out for delivery at 4:30am!)

Now have to see if my amateur sim cutting works....

i know this is off topic....but i'm currently resetting my ipod touch so i can sell it when iphone 4 comes.........it got to about 75% in about 15 mins but now has stuck at the same point for 20 mins at least.....is this normal??? do i just wait??

Well I'm just back from Vodafone in Harrogate with two 16g phones :D

They had 5 phones delivered, three 16's and two 32's. I was at the front of the queue, which had 4 people (wanting 5 phones), about 20 mins before opening a couple more turned up.

In contrast the O2 shop round the corner had a queue with probably over a hundred people in it. Shortly after opening they came out and told the majority of them they weren't going to get one today. I recon they had perhaps 25-30 phones there.

CPW and Phones4U had the signs in the windows but no queues outside, if they got any phones they only go t a couple.

Right I'm off to play with my new toy, thanks to everyone for making this thread part of the occasion.

Till next time!!

Wow. 100 people for that little O2 store. I would have been there, had there been white available.

I Just read this on the yellow screen thinhy (via appleinsider forum):

“Apple is using a bonding agent called Organofunctional Silane Z-6011 to bond the layers of glass. Apparently, Apple (or more likely Foxconn) is shipping these products so quickly that the evaporation process is not complete. However, after one or two days of use, especially with the screen on, will complete the evaporation process and the yellow “blotches” will disappear.

How do I know? I was involved in pitching Z-6011 to Apple.”

<Makes note to put box on radiator once he's collected his reservation>

It can take a v e r y long time

Those sim free plans from Three look great.

Do they charge for tethering?

If not I'm all over the £15 tariff (instead of my current O2 £20 iPhone Simplicity).

Mine has arrived; still synching so not had a proper chance to admire it yet.

For the record, mine *does* suffer from the signal dropping issue when I cover the black band in the bottom left. Not sure it will actually be an issue when I hold it as I'm right handed. But it is there.

Picked up my reserved 16gig unit from the trafford centre store this morning. Arrived at about 620 and the queue was already very large for the non reserved line and I was about 30th in the reserved line.

The store opened up early at 7am and I got into the store at about 830 and was out 5 minutes later with my iPhone and a bumper. I wanted a car charger as well but she said they didn't have any in yet and the one that worked with the 3GS might not work with the iPhone 4. I think it would but was a bit tired and didn't fancy holding up the queue any longer.

All in all a great job by apple. When I left the reserved queue was huge. I'd estimate a good 3 hour wait if you were at the back of it. At least.

DPD just delivered my iPhone from Orange.

Unfortunately Orange don't seem to know the difference between a 16GB and 32GB.

I don't know if i should just open and use this one until they sort it?

The price that you pay over eg. 2 years are still better value, yes obviously they cost more.. you're paying for minutes/texts/internet as well, it works out at £460 more for 16GB-iP4-£35/pm. Yeah, still a lot. but thats over 2 years.

Still, I would have been more happy if they sent more stock to Exeter, there was barely anything there.

Where did you try and buy from mate?

I was first in the door at the Glasgow Fort O2 Store - the manager shook my hand and everyone cheered as the doors opened at 9.45am.

I was in and out in about 5 minutes with my 32gb black iPhone 4 - setting it up now, although the sim swap is going to take 24 hours (I hope it's done by the time I board my flight to Boston tomorrow, or I'll get no service the whole three weeks I'm in the States).

They even gave me more than I was expecting for my 16gb 3G (they ended up owing me money). And, I got to keep my F&F 30% discount on to my new tariff too boot.

Quality service - and I got a big cheer from the 200+ people waiting outside.

They had plenty of stock, but I reckon it'll be flattened out by lunchtime today. They're expecting another consignment tonight.

Nearest Tesco Mobile shop to me is 40 mile away.

Still annoyed with my local Orange Shop deciding to today that due to only having 6 iPhone 4's they weren't selling it on PAYG. Pathetic.

My Tesco had 4 iPhones, only 1 was 32GB. I was 3rd in the queue, but the guy in front was also wanting 32GB so I left empty handed.

I'm sort of happy with missing out at Tesco to be honest, I'm having huge doubts about their customer service. Will probably go O2/Orange or SIM free instead. Am happy to wait it out a few weeks.

Just got out of Hackney O2 - I'd got there at 7:30, and got I think the second to last phone they had. Staff seemed nice enough though they were very evasive about stock for the first hour or so.

Now to the endless installation phase.

Easy purchase for me. Got to O2 store at 6:50, 7 people ahead of me. Come 8am queue had c. 70 people!

Sim swap / number port was near instant. It had already finished by the time my restore/sync cycle was complete.
