They do not have access to the pre-existing contract. So they would not be able to confirm anythiong. Also, due to Data Protection, they would not allow them to have access to such information.

Why do you say that? Apple are official agents of O2, just like CPW or any other independent mobile shop that you can get O2 phones from. So they do have access to the O2 contract system (except when it crashes like it surely will do at some point today) and there's no data protection issues whatsoever.

Hi,

Anyone know when Orange will have phones to order online?

Thanks

last night from midnight they started selling them and they were defo in stock cos i checked......but now says out of stock, must have sold well quick!! sorry :(

Terrible. Horrendous. Scary.

I'm hoping the Stone Lane Retail CPW has some iPhones..

I can only get there at 4:20PM next (conference), probably out by then. If you still go, update us on what the queues are like please! :D

Ah I've got a reserved one, about to reach the store now!

Arrived at Apple store Glasgow at around 5:45. Got free coffee at around 6:30. Doors opened at 7am. Was served around 7:10 and out at 7:20. Went to work, swapped 3GS (prepared microsim with 3GS contract) to iPhone 4. Activated by 7:50am.

Very happy.

Only bad points - no bumpers other than black, no docks, no universal dock inserts. But I'll get them later.

When I left the queue was huge.

Just got mine. Worth it for the screen alone. Don't need to zoom to read these boards. Absolutely stunning screen.

Its Just arrived! Off to sync. The TNT chap said he had dozens of them to deliver. At swindon o2 apparently there were 100's in queue.

Well I'm just back from Vodafone in Harrogate with two 16g phones :D

They had 5 phones delivered, three 16's and two 32's. I was at the front of the queue, which had 4 people (wanting 5 phones), about 20 mins before opening a couple more turned up.

In contrast the O2 shop round the corner had a queue with probably over a hundred people in it. Shortly after opening they came out and told the majority of them they weren't going to get one today. I recon they had perhaps 25-30 phones there.

CPW and Phones4U had the signs in the windows but no queues outside, if they got any phones they only go t a couple.

Right I'm off to play with my new toy, thanks to everyone for making this thread part of the occasion.

Till next time!!

Anybody else got No service on their Iphone 4. Has been like that for 10 mins, no problems in my area atc. i always get a signal in my house

Ive had no service for hour and a half, still says waiting for activation, this may take some time.

Freaking out incase the guy in the Apple store entered a wrong digit when swapping sims, as my old sim has died.

Just called up my local Apple Store to cancel my reservation as I pre-ordered through Apple and it's due for delivery today.

Apple rep was so thankful on the phone and said I would have made someone's day.

Good deed for the day done :)

BTW
Has anyone seen Stephen Fry at Regent Street Apple Store - he MUUUUST be around, or maybe he pre-ordered to avoid the whole queue situation

went to Tesco Cheshunt @ 8.30. Third in queue and got myself a 32gb iPhone 4 :D

They only had 4x 32gb and 16x 16gb in store....

Yea my tescos (slough) had the same sorts of numbers i turned up about the same time, maybe 10 mins later and i was about 10th in the Q and i didnt get one. Oh well! Lucky you :)

Yellow screen caused by uncomplete evaporation

I Just read this on the yellow screen thinhy (via appleinsider forum):

“Apple is using a bonding agent called Organofunctional Silane Z-6011 to bond the layers of glass. Apparently, Apple (or more likely Foxconn) is shipping these products so quickly that the evaporation process is not complete. However, after one or two days of use, especially with the screen on, will complete the evaporation process and the yellow “blotches” will disappear.

How do I know? I was involved in pitching Z-6011 to Apple.”
