Bars dropping as soon as I pick it up... not good..

Mine was delivered to Preston by TNT just over an hour ago.

The screen is great but there is definitely an issue with signal strength when you pick it up. As somone else pointed out, if you hold it in your left hand so that the bottom left part of the phone sits in your palm, the signal strength can drop from the full 5 bars to nothing and the call fails. If you hold it in your right hand there is no problem. I also put the phone into my 3GS silicone case (which is too big for the iPhone 4) and the problem does't happen at all, even when held in your left hand. My bumper should arrive shortly so hopefully that'll prevent the problem occuring.

There is clearly a problem if any part of your body is in contact with the metal rim at the bottom left of the phone. There is no way that it is just a software issue / issue with the display as the problem actually causes calls to fail, despite the fact that I'm in a very strong reception area.

I can live with the issue for now as I'll use a bumper but I can see a mass exchange of phones having to take place over the coming months!

Yea that was me! Looks like i might order tomorrow from tesco online. Whats your experience with the whole signal deal?

No problems so far, no sign of a yellow mark or signal drop outs when I touch the bottom left of the phone. Super quick in comparison to my 1st gen and the screen is amazing. Even little apps like Tweetie2/twitter look so much better.

Sign up with Tesco was fine, just a little slow.

Good luck with the online ordering, sounds a bit of a bugger at the moment.

I'm trying to get through to O2 cs to get my PAC, but that's just getting busy tone too.

Arrived! 12.50, TNT, Brighton.

Didn't turn up in in TNT van though, just a plain white one! Must be using extra ones!

I picked up my pre-booked 32gig from Vodafone at 9:00 with just 3 people in front of me. Passed the O2 queue (who I have just defected from because they wouldn't let me pre-book and only offered 500mb data) and there were about 100 people in it.

I feel I made the right choice.

Trouble is, I've gotta wait until Monday before I can play with it because my number (of 20ish years) doesn't port over until then, Doh...

Yep same here. Got to Voda store in Halifax at 6am (!) and there was no one there. Another gut joined me at 7am and when the store opened early at 8am, there were 3 of us. They had 2 32GB in stock and 8 16GB, so we all got what we wanted

The local O2 store that is literally 150 yards away had a queue of around 60 at 8am and 20 of them got turned away because they didn't have anough phones.

Got to wait until Monday to get my number transfered over from O2 and was told you can't use the temp number on the SIM. really frustrating but at least I have the phone in my hands!!

Apple Store Trafford Centre

Hi Helen, sorry I didn't get to meet you. Had a good chat with Bob and others. Got in the store at about 7:15 and out again 15 minutes later. Would have been quicker if the chap who served me hadn't had a few problems with his terminal.

Anyway, back home and activated by 8:00 am! Can't be bad.

Hope you don't have to wait too long. :)
Yes that was one regret I had, that I was missing what was going on with Bob and Deryk, would have liked to have met you too! Bob did keep popping across to make sure I was ok though and of course I did get my new iPhone. :)

I eventually got in about 8:30, about an hour after you left but I think I remember Bob pointing you out to me as you walked away.

Got mine delivered today :D

But it appears to have the fault being reported on the front page, when i hold it in my left hand at the bottom, the signal goes to 1 bar. Put it back on the table and it goes back to maximum.

How are you guys activating on O2?
I'm still waiting for mine to activate after 3 hours. The guy in the store said that he already transferred my number and would take half an hour.

I tried to swap to microsim on O2's site again, just incase but it's not accepting my serial number....

Got mine! :D I'm at Exeter train station now waiting for train home...then I'll activate! :D

I'm guessing from context you got it from Exeter? :p
Did you get it at the Apple Shop, or O2/CPW/P4U?

Please say you got it at the Apple Shop :p

Were there any iPhones left you left the store?

O2 and CPW are fresh out, I know ;)

I have a black bumper and Invisible shield on the phone on front and back.

I will replace the front with a clearer screen protector that I have had shipped from SGP when it comes here but for now both sides of my iPhone are protected against stratches as are the sides thanks to the bumper.

Personally I think the bumper looks decent - I can imagine a different colour would have looked much cooler but it does the job... the only reason I am not crazy about the bumber is that I love the metal sides of the phone and its a shame to cover them up!

But as a form of protection with the bumper and invisible shields my phone is protected against pretty much any situation and I don't need an ugly case either!

I will pop into my local apple store later and see if they have any other bumpers but I have a feeling they will be all sold out!

And I can confirm the iPhone 4 does fit in the original iPhone (original as in first ever) dock but only without the bumper.

just playing around with my iphone 4, does anyone know how you choose what setting video quality you are shooting? i cant find it anywhere obvious??
cheers!!

All those with reception issues at the bottom left, can you post your network? and weather it's on 2G, 3G or both.

Be interesting to see which band is most susceptible to it..

Still waiting for UPS to turn up with mine :(

So they should have made loyal customers already with them and paying them every month wait two weeks, while new customers get first dibs? I mean whit?

Thank god you don't run the stores then or I'd have been waiting two weeks longer than I should have.

By 'out-of-contract customer's' I think he meant existing customers who are eligable for an upgrade, as opposed to existing customers not eligable for upgrade, and having to take advantage of the early upgrade offer.

still no sign of mine... seen every delivery van apart from UPS :(

Anyone know if I can grab a bumper in CPW or o2 stores today? My reception in the house is crap as it is and I dont fancy wearing a glove until Apple can sort this issue out (if there is actually one)

Looking good

Gutted

I got a call from o2 yesterday saying that as a priority customer they would post me a black 32Gb iPhone 4 that would arrive today (24th), obviously I was extremely happy I didn't have to queue up! BUT after waiting until 1pm I called o2 who said it won't arrive until tomorrow probably, then called DHL and they said it definitely wont arrive until tomorrow. Problem is that I'm going away for two weeks tomorrow morning so would actually rather have got one from shop today!

i cant believe Three just rang me up to discuss whether my friends or family are on pay-as-you-go and not about sorting an iPhone 4, the girl said it wasnt really her department..! come on three, you're psychologically bullying me!!!
