Tesco Mobile

Do we know when Tesco Mobile will be selling the iPhone 4 via Telephone Orders or even online?!

The speed of the iPhone 4 is of the charts...

I just ran the Speed Test app on both my 3G and my iPhone 4, connected to the same wireless network (both 802.11g).

The results:

iPhone 3G: Down: 3,663kbps; Up: 344kbps
iPhone 4: Down: 11,683kbps; Up: 628kbps.

All I can say to that is...

Any truth in the rumour that the Trafford Centre was evacuated by some lark pulling the fire alarm?

http://twitter.com/wevu

I must admit, me and the bloke I was chatting to in the queue were joking about pulling the fire alarm just after we got our phones...

Funny! The two guys who came in a pair were chatting to me and my friend from work about this! Not that we would ever do such a thing.

I hope this is not true.

Finally UPS came with mine at 1:30 (HA5 4) I asked if he had a lot of them and he said 10 just for Hatch End.

I cut down my 10yo T-Mobile SIM and it work s fine.

I definitely have the antenna issue, not sure if it will be an issue in practice, but it's quite disconcerting seeing the bars go down whenever I'm holding it in my left hand.

I also think I have the yellow issue but I don't see it in general use.

Sorry, started this post 1h30 ago, but started a FaceTime chat with an old friend.

Just for reference:

3G on the left, 4 on the right. Again, I say, wow!

So whats everyones plan who doesnt have a phone yet?

So far it's to be really ill-tempered with everyone at work.

Im guessing Vodafone will get some more in stock in about 2 weeks, same for o2

Three is looking to get stock "end of July, beginning of August"

Then theres the White one that should be out mid July (im assuming this will get shipped when the 2nd wave of iPhones gets shipped.

I think im going to wait for Three to get them in stock, mainly because they are the best deal and im already with them.

If Vodafone's website had been working properly this morning I'd have been collecting from their store tomorrow. Now that option has gone I've no real plan. I'm even considering buying unlocked from Apple despite the considerable up front costs and the lack of significant benefit given I hardly use any phone minutes or text. I have Three on the iPad and their coverage in MK is excellent - but I have a worry that they will be bottom of the list for supplies.

I'm not keen on ordering without knowing timescales, so chances are I'll grab whatever I can if the opportunity arises. All I can say it it'll be a black 32Gb model. I have a 16Gb 3G and need more space.

Could be worse though - my brother waitied outside the Apple store in MK from 6:30am (en route to work) and gave up at lunchtime having phoned work to book a half day holiday.

So far no yellow on the screen or any antenna issues, though if I do cover the left corner the bar goes down one apart from that no main issues so far.

Had a good play with the phone no problems with the screen does seem to loose a bit of signal but will see over next few days camera is great cant wait use at Bon Jovi friday night all in all very good

Tesco Mobile told me and others who phoned first thing this morning that their systems were down and that as a result they wouldn't now be selling it until 9am tomorrow. However, I've since heard that they're now telling people that the system may be back up at around 7-8pm this evening and to try again then. Honestly, I'm not sure even Tesco know themselves right now!

Is yours getting shipped with UPS by any chance? Because I tried my TNT tracking code and got nothing . Kind of strange that Apple would use different people, what part of the country are you in?

Yeah getting shipped by UPS. Is kinda odd they're using different carriers for N.I. Belfast here, Ryan is waiting on his from Bangor, but he's also on UPS (I think).

Waiting game :(

Thanks for the info! I will give them a ring at around 7pm to get an update! I dont udnerstand how the Tesco Mobile Shops could sell them if the contact centre couldnt?! Was it the phone system that crashed?!

UPS van delivered my iPhone 4 about an hour ago. [Edinburgh]

No yellowing of screen; but yes, cupping left bottom corner loses all signal over about 8 seconds. Goes to "No Service" and no phone/data possible.
- not a problem for voice calls, as I'm right-handed.. but a big problem for texting/internet as I cup the phone in my left palm and type with right.. and signal completely goes if I do this. :-(

Is there a mechanism to inform Apple the scale of this problem?

Orange PayG

anyone know when orange are gona be updating there stocks? or at least when they will start offering iphone4 on payg cant believe they didnt this morning. what a rip.

Weird. I'm a further bit up north, just outside Ballymena. UPS probably only go so far so Apple probably ditched me off to TNT. :(
