Orange

Hi i'm new to the forums, I currently have an iPhone 3GS on a Orange contract. I am planning on selling my 3GS and purchasing the new iPhone 4 on PAYG.

Would I be able to cut my current iPhone sim down to micro-sim size and use it in the new iPhone?

and Would Orange allow this or will they charge me extra or cancel my contract?

Thanks

you should be able to ask for a replacement microsim wether there will be a cost or not for the sim is another thing, couldn't see them wanting to cancel the account as it would just be a replacement sim, they would just transfer your number to the new sim

Am I now scared to use Spotify, and I can no longer use an internet radio service becuase of this?

I use over 11 hours of music through spotify and online radio combined on my iPhone. Not to mention:

11 hours of online radio at STANDARD 96kbps is very close to 500MB. Let's factor in web browsing and YouTube and it goes over that 500MB limit.

iAds will probably take a few MBs from your bandwidth as it implements video and other media into the advertisements.

You can, yes, there are tutorials online that give specific instructions. It's an easy enough job if you're careful.

easy answer would be use wifi when at home and when out and about try to find free hotspots with a hotspot app

which is an interesting point....

can you turn iAds off?? if not, then surely this should be taken into account if you go over your data limit?

they have implemented something I am forced to watch that uses data that I pay for!!

Yea i definitely want to know about iAds, I've asked o2 on twitter so hopefully they've thought about this. I doubt I'll ever get close to 500MB but just in case.

O2 has lost my business.

Newbie here.

Although I have been reading MacRumors for years, it is only this latest O2 fiasco that has galvanized me to register. Someone is lying to us here. If the majority of people don't use the limit why are they imposing a cap.

Like many here, I have ran out of contract on my 3G, but have continued paying it with the expectation of the new model. I am very mild normally but this shabby treatment has concentrated my mind. I'm off! I will go with anyone else, even on the same terms that O2 are offering rather than than deal with a company that has lost my respect.

Yesterday I would have recommended O2 to anyone, that is certainly not the case now.

O2 you have a simple choice, improve the tariff offer or lose me and my family members (and a lot of others I suspect.)

iPhone low churn rate? That might just change.

R.F.

I don't think O2 are going to change their tariffs but at least now we can see what the other three do and if they follow suit or offer a more competitive tariff.

I have a feeling it will be 3 offering the best tariffs but no clue if they will release the phone on the 24th or on some other date.

:( I don't fancy searching for hotspots whilst on the move :S

I don't think they can be turned off.

Let's have to some fun with constant update messages for navigation apps. They take some bandwidth as well.

Have they released the hanset prices on payngo yet? And from the looks of it these cannot be pre oredered only bought in actual shops!

Am I Reading this correctly?

No prices released for handsets, no word on pre-ordering yet, although current information suggests there won't be a pre-order on O2.

Can anyone provide that chat link?

http://store.apple.com

Click on the chat button next to the telephone number.

nope no1 has released any official handset prices yet

Im getting bored and sick of waiting for prices... wish they would just let us know already... especaly since it took forever with the ipad prices to be known here in the UK.

5 days before preorder and we dont know the price...

I called my local apple store today and the lady told me that you could pre-order for collection, online, instore or on the phone, and it would probably be wise to do so.

IPhone 4

Quick question and I would really appreciate some advice from the board. I had my iphone stolen around 4 weeks ago. It was a 3gs. Now my insurance company paid out on it to the tune of £460. Have no idea why they couldn't replace it with another, but anyway.

Now I have 15 months left of my contract with 02. That means that if I were to sign up to their "deal" I would have to pay around £300 and sign up to a new contract.

Do you guys and gals think it would be best not to do that and simply buy a brand new iPhone 4 and continue with my old contract? It means I will be able to upgrade in August 2011. I think this would be the best idea, but would appreciate any thoughts.

If it is true that o2 were asking customers how much they were willing to pay, it is my bet they are trying to assess how much they can get away with. That is the only reason I can see for not releasing the new phone prices with the new tariffs.
