The U.K. iPhone 4 Thread

i might look at sonic 1/2 later but i agree on everything else. But uno is a social game...

getting back to srs bsness, Nap time.

Hopefully they refund the cost of the iphone and send me a free iphone tomorow with a free bumper and unlimited internets 4life + unlimited texts and calls. Maybe a free iPad (3G 64gb) as a gift.

Oh yeah they would also include lifetime free itunes store content and backstage into the AppleHouse and give me early aces to teh new apple tech. And free copies of each one. Oh and a cool job 4 life with nice pay. And best of friends with sjobs :D

Of course, this is a contract. Now, where's that NDA signing your life over?

By my calculations, my iPhone will be delivered on Thursday or Friday (more likely), but unlikely to be Wednesday. FML.

I'm still being told Wednesday, although I find that crappy, as it was in Arnhem around 12 hours ago. Can't say i've been impressed with TNT - the tracking system is a waste of time.

Just as a little extra ..... if the serial number designation hasn't changed with IP4, then mine was built in week 27 (June 28 - July 4)

Ooh I did not want to read that. I joined the priority list on Monday 28th because the Apple man (yes, the Apple man) told me they weren't taking reservations for 32gb iPhones on both the 24th and 25th. So I ordered online then phoned on the off chance on Monday, only to be put on the list. I suspect I'll be a few hundred behind you, and subsequently about a week behind before I get a phone.

Let me know when you get yours so I can at least judge if whether or not to cancel my online order please.
 
so the only way to get unlocked iPhones inLondon is from Apple stores right? i'm staying in London until the 12th, if anyone heard of any stores getting stock kindly let me know and i'll give you your first face time kiss :D


edit: no seriously if anyone heard of any stock especially the Regent st store then send me a message,thanks.

How do you know Vodafone have lots of stock? I ordered from them online on the 30th and haven't heard a peep since my credit check passed same day?

Popped into the Cardiff Apple store this morning, no stock. They did put me on the "priority list". I asked if when they did get stock would there be any for walk in customers, according to them the stock would be for the people on the list only. I'm skeptical to say the least...
 
Iphone on Orange

Hi everyone.
I walked into an Orange shop last Monday as a new customer (I'm moving over from O2). I paid £60 deposit and on Saturday I picked up my shiny new 32gb Iphone4. Number wont get ported until tomorrow but I thought 5 days was pretty good. Certainly seems like the way to go rather than ordering through their website.
 
I know Vodafone aren't renowned for their customer service but this is ridiculous. I was trying to find where my phone was someone said Vodafone had lots of stock, so i phone up and they give me the number for the dispatch team. Right well i try and ring them and hold.......... hang up try ringing again and it cuts off and does this at least 20x. I try again 15 mins later and im on hold, i've never been so annoyed at customer services except maybe Bt..

Someone said earlier on in this thread, that they bought an Iphone 4 from an o2 shop on a new contract, was this person just lucky or are they taking new customers on now? Anyone else tried?

That saves me a trip to Cardiff this afternoon then. Got an Apple gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Can not decide on a iPhone or a 13" Macbook pro or just not to use my new credit card with 12 months interest free on purchases. The joy of credit.
 
Micro sims

Guys,

Probably a silly question, but I want to ask it anyway (tin hat on).

I have just taken delivery of my iphone 4, and the pack included a micro sim to install. However, last week, O2 sent me a micro sim as I had registered interest on their website.

My question is this - the micro sims are different, one has a much larger gold area than the other (almost to the edge of the micro sim). Other than looking different, is there any difference between the two? I am guessing not, but interested to know before I register one.

There's no scientific evidence behind this practice, but certain members here believe that using the sim with the smaller contact area results in the "death-grip" having no effect on their reception. So, all in all, if it makes no difference to you use the smaller one.
 
Apple and TNT are p1ssing me off now. TNT says that my iPhone was meant to be delivered on Monday- but - right now, my shipment is in Arnhem, and is going to be delivered to the UK by road. People in this July 2nd batch are having their iPhones delivered though.
The Apple shipment status is suggesting that time is going backwards, as the estimated delivery date is the 2nd. Shep!

This is a mess. I think it'll be delivered either tomorrow or Thurday (not here on Thursday to end of week).

No worries. It's a pain waiting when you have absolutely no time frame to work with - The apple guy told me it would be a 'wee while' which I thought meant a few days or a week. It's now been 10 days. It's really frustrating.

Tell me about it.
I'm with O2 and want to do the early upgrade offer. Can only do it in store.
So I check the O2 website for availability and call the stores it says it is available. Oh wait, but the stores say it is out of stock!

O2 refuse to do early upgrade by phone. Maybe time to change networks me thinks.

Might be a dumb Q...

So do Sim Free iPhones from Apple come with a completely blank Micro Sim that i can register with any network?
 
In case this interests anyone. Internet Tethering works on iPhone 4 Sim Free in UK. I'm using my o2 pay & go sim which was tranfered over to the microsim.

On the 3GS the option just dissapeared when selected.
