Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule

istockphoto_7501514-jumping-happy-nerd-guy-isolated-on-white.jpg

edit: does in transit to customer mean that it is here in the United Kingdom?

Does it *******

Hell, TNT customer services. This is Alex speaking, what is your name, and how can I help you?

Hello, my name is Shamil, and I'd like an update on my order status please.

Ok, do you have you consignment number?

Yes, it's #########.

Thanks, I'll just look it up for you.

Right, your shipment is currently in Arnhem, and it is slated to be delivered to you tomorrow, but I honestly cannot see how this is to be exacted, since it will take a few days from our Arnhem hub to London.

Uh... erm.. what do you suggest I do?

I'll make a note of this, and I'll, or a shipping manager will call you back in an hour's time, if you're available to discuss this further.

Thanks

May I have a number that we may contact you on?

Yep, my mobile number is ########### and I can be contacted at any time today.

Thanks, I'll forward this immediately. Is there anything else I can help you with?

No.

Ok, thank you for calling TNT, and have a great day. Bye

Bye

Bye.

So, did they call ?

It would appear to me, from my calls to TNT, that the UK people do not, or cannot talk to the International people. My rep is due to email, or call me tomorrow morning with an update. I'll probably ring them before that.
I'll probably ring Apple also to express my opinions about their choice of carrier. One thing that did definitely happen on time was Apple taking my money.

Finally got the iPhone 4 kitted out now, got the bumper from Apple a week back, pretty annoyed that I caved in and spent that much on a bumper, but I can't see me now going for an actual case.

The Zagg IS came today as well, I had some epic fun trying to put it on, what with all the water solution and sliding the damn protectors into place. 5hrs later, put the bumper on carefully and now I'm all sorted!

I simply cannot believe how bad its been for Apple and the phone shops over here, its a farce! I went into Orange yesterday with a friend who was looking for a new phone (not an iPhone) and I was speaking to the assistant guy, and he said its looking like mid-august before anything properly comes through the doors, and mid September before he even predicts he'll hear anything about the PAYG stuff at any of the stores. Obviously this is a guy who's only at shop level, so what does he know, but he must have some vibes off the management or what not.

When I spoke to TNT customer care earlier they did promise delivery tomorrow and said that whilst the online tracking still shows it as being in Arnhem that it was in fact on its way to their hub in Northampton.

I'm supposed to be getting a call back from them first thing in the morning to confirm delivery but I'm not holding out much hope (and they will be getting a piece of my mind if they report a further delay).

If TNT customer care have access to additional tracking information they really need to sort their online tracker out so it is update with the latest information they have.

From the sounds of it they have bulk shipped a huge quantity in one go and a number of items have apparently missed being scanned individually.

EDIT: We have some movement at last! :)

Result

Bugger, just rang Apple aftersales to ask about returning my iPhone in the hope of being offered a free bumper as seems to have been the norm for a lot of other people. No luck though, she just asked me why I wanted to return it and when I explained (mentioning 'holding the edge in my hand' as many times as I could) she just set up the return for me :(

I did wonder if it was following Apple's announcement today that a software fix was coming out, but when I asked her if anything was on the cards to fix this issue she just told me that she knew a lot of people were having problems, but she didn't know if anything was going to be done to fix it.

I'll cancel the return next week as I do still want the phone; it just irks me that I'm going to have to fork out £25 on a bumper to use it properly

OK, here's an update. Rang Apple yesterday to say that since I arranged the return of my iPhone I'd read on the Internet about people being sent free bumpers by Apple to alleviate the problem - was that correct?

The Apple guy said that the official line from Apple was that this was a software issue that would be fixed soon, but sure, I could order a bumper if I wanted to.

I politely said I wasn't willing to pay £25 to have my phone work, so the Apple guy went off and had a word with his manager. A couple of minutes later he returned saying that in order to stop me returning my iPhone and to help me to be able to enjoy it properly (or words to that effect), they would normally have sent me a bumper but they have a backlog on all colours, so they would credit my credit card with £25 so I could buy a bumper wherever I could find one. And if I wanted to spend the money on something else, that was OK (not that they would know anyway!)

So, return cancelled, and I've either got a free bumper or I'm £25 better off whichever way you want to look at it. And although they sometimes come across a bit over-the-top in an American 'Have a Nice Day' kind of way (no offence), the Apple customer service people never fail to impress me with their professionalism - if only all customer service call centres were the same!

Why?Why?Why?
When did you pre-order?
Where do you live?
On orange?
Really I think I need tostart complaining on the orange store cause I was the first one to pre-order but still haven't got mine!!!!

I'm in Bournemouth. Just walked in the store as a new customer moving from O2, paid £60 deposit and 5 days later pick up my phone. Easy!! I guess some other people haven't been so lucky but as I said before, there was only a waiting list of 5 people when I ordered mine.

That sounds like incredibly slow delivery.

Slow boat from China?

I haven't got a tracking number yet but I just spoke to Apple Customer Services and their systems were down but was told that because my iPhone was being combined with accessories then this could slow delivery. They said it was likely I would receive earlier but all the items are merged into 1 consignment in the Netherlands then sent over here.

I've just been told by someone at o2 on the email chat, that if I wanted to take out another contract with o2 for the iphone 4 I can, as it's open to existing customers. So would have to 2 contracts with them on one account.
Don't want to upgrade, as I will loose the 4 text for 1.
Haven't called up yet, so might get a different story if I do.
