Hi! I ordered mine iPhone 4 via Apple Online Store on July 16th - do I have any chances to get it after 2 weeks or something like that, or maybe this date 3 weeks stays hard and this is the only real date?

that is a safety net overestimate, it might come as early as 2 weeks

Not sure if this is because of the carrier update I got, taking me to O2 7.3, but I've not noticed this before the update ...

Ok ...

In an interesting twist, I enabled Tethering on my iPhone 4 which is a PAYG on O2 Unlimited with two months of my free 12 months unlimited data and WiFi remaining.

While I only get GPRS at home, I still managed to enable tethering and use my iPhone as an internet connection for my iMac.

Didn't think this would work as easily as this on PAYG, but it works great.

Hey guys, I'm a new member to the site, although I've been lurking for months and have been following and researching iPhone 4 for a long time now.

I'm planning on getting the iPhone 4 on Tesco Mobile (as it is overall at least as good, if not better deal than the other major networks, yet allows you to have only a 12 month contract, which means I can buy the iPhone 5 next year and sell my unlocked iPhone 4 for a reasonable amount).

I had a few questions, hopefully someone can answer them.

1. What is Tesco's network like? I know they piggyback from O2, but is there a difference between Tesco and O2 customers? Like do O2 customers get preference, leaving Tesco customers with worse off reception/data speeds?

2. Does visual voicemail work with Tesco's network?

3. Is it possible to buy the iPhone via Tesco mobile from the Apple Store? I know you can buy O2 and Orange (at least) iPhones from the Apple store so do they extend this to Tesco mobile as well? Or do I need to go to Tesco to get it? The reason I ask is twofold - (i) There are no Tesco stores near me that have a phone shop to sell the iPhone and (ii) I quite like the idea of having all of my old contacts trasnferred to the iPhone by the Apple guys so I don't have to do it myself.

4. Similar to question 3, but is it possible to buy the iPhone from the apple store ONLINE with Tesco mobile? As far as I can tell, when I select buy iPhone, it is for £599 for the iPhone only version, and there are no options to choose which network you want.

Thanks :)

You could buy online on the tesco store and i believe that only oranges vodafoney and 02 sell their contracts in the apple store.

wow.... tesco is really good value and cheap!

This is why I bought directly from apple. My contract can happily run out and I’ll go to simplicity.

When I bought my iPhone 3G on PAYG from the Apple Store back in September 09, I went onto the O2 Unlimited plan.

Top up £10 per month: £10 call credit and unlimited texts to O2 numbers for the month.

Top up £15 per month: £15 call credit, unlimited O2 to O2 calls, and unlimited texts to O2 numbers.

Obviously with the iPhone 3G at that time, O2 were giving 12 months of free data and WiFi, which I still have two months left of since I switched my SIM over to a Micro SIM, thus keeping my tariff and number, etc.

When my 12 months of data and WiFi expires in September, O2 have told me it'll be a £10 bolt on for PAYG customers, giving 500mb of data and unlimited WiFi.

So basically, when I top up my £15 I'll lose £10 to my bolt on, have £5 call credit, unlimited calls and texts to O2, and my 500mb for data and unlimited WiFi.

Considering that every single member of my family and all my friends with the exception of two people are on O2, for £15 a month I cannot argue with that. Even when the 12 months expire and I pay £10 for the bolt on, because I don't rely on the call credit anyway.

Good news..

After posting on this forum for the first time last night, I finally got an email this morning stating that my phone is available for collection. I had my name on the Priority List since the 25th of June.

Heads up people. Should be here soon for those whome are still waiting.

I went and collected it straight away from the White City store (London).

First thoughts. The screen is vivid, clarity is great, build quality is solid (so far).

Dude, I'm with Tesco and TBH I've had nothing but hassle from them.I don't want to go into too much detail as I'd be here all night.

Their reception where I am (North London) is terrible. At home I get 1 bar most of the time. And on a good day I get 2 bars.

Visual Voicemail!!! No chance mate. We don't even get Call Waiting!!!

Cheap, yes. 12 Month Contract, great. But overall VERY VERY BAD!

OK. As Tesco piggyback off the O2 network does that mean that all us poor Tesco users will also get this update? If so, I hope its very soon (as in the next couple of days) as I'm on the verge of returning my phone and getting an HTC Desire :(

PS Bugger! When I first got my iPhone 4 I DID have internet tethering. But since updating to the Tesco 7.2 firmware it seems to have disappeared

 The chances of me keeping the phone are getting slimmer by the second
