Missed these posts. Also with Lloyds and they flagged up the payment on my credit card as possibly fraudulent. Didn't flag up the shedloads I spent in Ireland the week before  but I had to make about 8 phone calls and it held the phone up for a few days.

Same with me for Natwest. I think it is because of the type of transaction - they use your debit card to set up the direct debit/recurring payment on your account, hence it is flagged as a transaction that needs verifying.

I got my iphone 4 from 3 on wednesday. Theres no blocks on internet for me. :D

The moderator on the 3Blog is now saying it can be removed.
But my content filter is still in place..

This is what I get (when not on WiFi) for half the internet.

If you want to see the sort of shocking content that it blocks.
You can peep behind 3's wall of censorship. Prepare yourself...

U see this is the thing that bugs me also. I'v read many reports of this. I deal with three mobile's PR team also and this has concerned me for a while. When I ask I get mixed responses some say yes it can be removed others say no

I find it obnoxious. They use the excuse that they are protecting children.

But in truth it is a paywall beyond which Three sells you their own pornography.

My two weeks with Three on the iPhone 4...

.........................Three....O2
3G Coverage:...... 9/10....4/10
Data:..................1GB....500M
Customer Service:..3/10....7/10
Content Filter:.......KILL!....10/10
JPeg Compression:.10/10....2/10
Tethering..............10/10....0/10

If we can get round the content filter issue. I would recommend Three without hesitation.

I am in Sheffield. But I am seeing 4 Bars of 3G in most places.

I can't change the APN on the iPhone4 - because the carrier settings do not allow it.

Omg!!! Really :) where in the UK r u? How r u finding connectivity etc? Silly q but are you able to access adult sites?

yea. Ive not any blocks on mine(but ive only tried it using my wifi, will that matter?), Connectivity(both wifi n 3g) is fast never seen anything like it on a mobile.

Impressive. Shame about the lack of APN changing. God. Hey out of curiosity I did read if u request filter to be uplifted. Wait 24hours and then reset your iPhone and remove the sim for few minutes. Tried that?

Calling customer services on 333 is a pain. It is a worse-than-usual overseas call-centre.

I spent hours on the phone - only to be told that they could not (would not) remove the content filter. This was speaking to a supervisor. The only option was to pay more to change bolt ons.

However the moderator on the Three blog says it can be removed.

I will report back if I succeed.

Got my iPhone 4 today!
My step father went into town a wee while before me and asked if they had any 16GB's in stock and they were all out, so we went along a few hours later to get a 32GB (which they had loads of) and just as the girl went into the stock room to fetch me my phone 16GB versions arrived. Hurrah! The guy said they had loads of 32GB's in stock though. But yeah, totally loving the little thing!

just a question to those who jumped from O2 to Vodafone

is the 3G service better/faster in general compared to O2?

i have a year left on my O2 contract but was thinking of jumping to Vodafone for iPhone 5

I've just tested my 3 SIM in my iPhone 3G and I have the content block in place

What does paying the 99 pence charge actually get you? Unrestricted access? If I can't disable the block I won't be too happy. I wasn't informed about it when signing up. At least it's only a monthly contract and can jump ship anytime I want though but what a hassle. I'm still waiting for my old O2 number to be ported over.

*snip*

In my experience, Vodafone's network has been faster and the coverage is better. Whether this will remain so as more data users join the network remains to be seen, however.

Also, I have received had courteous and competent customer service, although I have no complaints regarding O2 in this regard either.

The only thing the 99p gets you is unrestricted access on 3planet (their website with pictures on etc) which is what the screenshot a while back is of. The filter on the rest of the internet is not affected by this 99p. How bad is the filtering?

What type of content does 3 block?

Loads of stuff...

B3ta
Belle De Jour (blog)
Girl with One track Mind (blog)
Wicked Weasel (bikini / lingere sales)
Melon Farmers (censorship watch)
Dlisted (celebrity gossip)

None of these are pornography.

Flickr is not blocked. Even though it has copious amounts of explicit imagery.
