Are you planning on cutting down you Vodafone SIM into a Micro SIM?

I'm also getting fed up waiting for Tesco and what you described above sounds pretty good. I just had a look at the Quidco site and it mentions that SIM Only cash back does apply to iPhone sales but not to iPhone 4 because it wont fit in the phone.

How long?

Is this the longest thread in macrumours? Anyone on any other forums with similar view n reply counts?

Makes me proud to be British.

We are nowhere near it.. Considering this thread hit 15k posts in around two weeks and then next 2k in the following months..

The biggest around has nearly ONE MILLION.. not posts but pages..

It's dated from 2003 bearing in mind :p

Blimey. Where is that and did it keep on topic.

Btw I have ip4 thru tesco just to keep this on the right path. Suprises mr anyone would do otherwise with cost over 12m ready for ip5.
Saw a digitalpoint thread of 100k plus pages on google.

Does anyone know how much space is left on a 32GB once its formatted? Like from the start off, with nothing on apart from iOS4?

Has anyone got full comparative information for all available SIM-only UK deals? Having just escaped from a 24-month O2 contract I signed up for in error, I have 2 SIM-free phones and am unable to find any direct comparisons anywhere.

That would be nice*, but probably a little impractical as there must be thousands of variations out there!
I'm looking at the table posted (a lot) earlier; http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2269753/iPhone Network.xls
Although I guess I should have a quick flip through of the mse and quidco websites...

* - please, people, feel free... :-D

Read the post above, they're available on walk in

Also where is the convent garden store?
The post above is not gospel. It's fine to talk about hearsay and what not, but I'm not dealing in hearsay. I was in both of those stores in person myself last weekend and asked to buy said iPhone 4 - I was told no they are not selling iPhone4 to me and I need to get on reservation list and wait about 3 weeks. That is what I personally experienced at
- the regent St store on Friday at around 2pm.
- convent Garden on Sunday at about around 2pm.

Maybe there is a secret language or terminology that one needs to use other than "I would like to buy an unlocked iphone4 right now", in which case maybe you can explain what words would result in the phone being presented for sale to a customer who asks to buy one. ;)

I have been waiting for Tesco to get stock and I just got fed up today so I went to Brent cross Apple store and bought a 32gb Iphone 4, waited about 5 minutes in the Iphone queue and was out in 2!

I also started a 12 month sin only Vodafone deal, £20 600mins Unlimited txts and 1gb of data and this was through quidco, which I should hopefully get £100 cashback, which works out to £140 over the year + £600 = £740 which isnt to far of the Tesco deal which came to £669 but that isnt including the extra 350 minutes. So I think it is a very good deal.

You have a link for this deal please? I'm getting fed up of waiting for Tesco to get stock too.

Given that it was stated that the Covent Garden store was opening on Saturday, it may have been smarter to have gone there on that day, rather than Sunday. The store mentioned they had more iPhones than any other Apple store anywhere and since it was only opening that day, it would have been first come first served. Since you have posted several times in this thread regarding stock - you should have picked up on this and gone to Covent Garden, Saturday morning asap.

Also you talk about Friday and Sunday - well guess what - its Thursday right now! So that means Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday has passed and you haven't bothered trying again - so why complain? There were queues at Regent Street on Wednesday (yesterday) and Tuesday with enough stock for walk-ins.

It makes no sense for you to be complaining that you went to the both stores last weekend when people are talking about stock being available now!

As the contract is for the iPhone it will work on the iPhone 4. What i've done is ordered the sim to my local vodafone store and when I go pick it up I will ask them to swap it to a mrcro-sim :)

This is the vodafone deal :
http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/sim-only-plans/all-sim-plans
just scroll down till you see "iPhone Sim Only - includes 1GB wi-fi with BT Openzone"

If you want the cashback you need to register with www.Quidco.com and go through them to the vodafone site to order the sim (read up how it works on the site, I was worried I did it wrong but it seems to have gone ok)

If you read the thread it is claimed that the phones were and have been available in those stores since last weekend. This was not true as I stated from my in-person experience, not your keyboard theory.

I'm a normal person who goes to a store. If they insist on heavily advertising a product and they dont stock to meet their promotion, they suck. Even more so when we are talking about their two flagship stores. That goes for any retailer, Apple included. What they are doing is bait and switch, a tactic of unethical retailers - they promote a product you probably wont find, just to get people in the store hoping they can sell them other junk.

So yes, I complain. It's my time wasted and my perogative as a normal person to compalin. If you're one of those cult members who doesnt mind being abused, will spend your life queing for store openings, running to stores day after day with no end even after being duped, begging for product, and will even blame yourself for the company's failings - if so, that's on you.

But I went there twice and was told there was no product for sale. That's fact - and it's very poor performance for any retailer. You can live in your theoretical world if you wish. Has nothing to do with reality.

And the reality is that you are giving extremely poor advice to any reader of this thread by telling them to run to those two particular stores and they will be sure to find the phone. They are not sure to find it. In fact the chances are that they will leave empty handed.

Three's £30 a month deal has got be the best deal yet. Sure you can go for a 12 month contract with Tesco, but if you double it to 24 months (the same as Three), it works out more expensive and you're getting far less goodies.

Fortunately I got the iPhone last week whilst Three were selling it on their site. Seems like you can only get it in-store now.

Except after 12 months on Tesco you're free to do whatever you want, ie change to simplicity £15 per month or similar, buy the new iphone that will be out by then etc.

 I'm wiling to bet you've never even been to London

Walk ins available again today (Regents Street)

I'm willing to bet he's in (or at least from) the USA, only Americans use the phrase "bait and switch" routinely. Also in another post he talks about spending "5 or 6 hundred bucks". Sounds pretty US-oriented to me.

I'm a normal person...

You're about as normal as a gorilla in a fish pond. Considering that I work near both stores, I am far from keyboard theory as you are lead to believe.

You seem to be good at whining about everything and blaming me and Apple, excuse me while I *yawn*. You go Friday & Sunday yet miss the opening day Saturday of Covent Garden - laughable! Whining about last weekend is pointless when you haven't gone and checked today. I could be a nutcase like you and whine about how there weren't any phones the first week of July - but what will that achieve, especially now and today? How about you go TODAY to both stores, see the status and then comeback and complain? Either you're lazy or you don't really care that much to get one.
