i just called O2 and changed my £25 'smartphone' 30d simplicity with 600mins/Unlimited Texts/Unlimited data bolt-on to to the iPhone 900m version.

i did this cos i guessed that this will mean when i get my iP4 i will defo get visual voicemail and access to the wifi-hotspots whereas previously i wouldn't have if i used my exisiting sim.

she told me that they will NOT be forcing limited data on me EVER. this will only happen to post-iPhone4 launch tariff buyers.

ps - the reason i jumped from 600m to 900m is because an O2 friend of mine says he will stick me on friends and family so i will get all this unlimited goodness for around £20pm thanks to his 30% discount - result!

how do you no this?

I clicked on the 'view the email in full' hyperlink in yesterdays email (as the graphics weren't displaying properly) and it took me to a page on the o2 website with yesterdays email in full. The page then autorefreshed and a '14 days to go' page appeared with some blah blah blah about microsims.

o2 are sending out a daily email '15 days to go...' etc. Yesterday's was about tariffs.

Today's appears to be about micro sims not pricing.
Of course the frustrating thing is that there aren't 15 (or 14) days to go. If pre-orders really are going live on Monday then in tms of them setting the pricing there are only 3 days, including today but not including pre-launch day itself, to go.

I'm really hoping for something today, or at worst tomorrow, on the basis that it's probably more convenient to get final senior executive sign off on pricing during business hours so surely they'll have them ready to go at least by tomorrow, even if they're all playing chicken with each other and not announcing today.

Well if thats the case then it would be all good apart from the micro sim dilemma, but hopefully 02 will send one out when registering interest on the 02 website (as stated by them).

The only preorder option from Apple store I can think of is for pay as you go iPhones. Activating the phone should be easy, connect it to itunes and it will be done in seconds. But if u want to transfer numbers or use a simplicity sim card I guess you will have to call O2 or go to their store.
My concern is that apple uk website doesn't really emphasize on the preorder option as the apple USA website does. It feels like apple uk are hesitant about it. That's my feeling.
I really hope we can preorder and get it on the 24th cause I really don't want to queue.

I hope O2 releases the iphone PAYG prices today so we can know what to do before the weekend.

I think lack of pricing is deliberate - I'd expect an announcement from O2 on Monday afternoon to hype everybody up for the pre-orders on Tuesday (guessing), as everyone is still chewing over the tariffs from yesterday and no other network has shown their hand re tariffs.

OK, I'm officially an idiot. With the iPad launch too fresh in my mind, in my head I'd had pre-order day hard-coded as a Monday. Knowing that it's a Tuesday I take back all of what I said in my last post.

I agree, they'll probably leave it to the last minute, have the Saturday and Sunday countdown emails to sell more of the benefits and hype people up a bit more to soften them up as much as possible before revealing the price at the very last minute. Typical sales tactics, get people wanting it as much as possible before telling them the price.

I might as well go to the pub now then.

Also if they release their prices today, people will have time to think about it over the weekend and choose another carrier, if they release it last minute, people will order on the 15th without fully thinking about it.

O2 Treating Us Like The Idiots They Are!

I laughed when I looked at the bottom of the Microsim update page.

Tomorrow's update will be a 'walk-through' on how to swap your sim! My God!

It ain't rocket science!

And we'll have less time to moan about the price on forums. And then less time for the press to pick up on the moaning and write negative articles. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple have the carriers on an NDA with regard to price.

Very true and it would be nice to have the prices now but i can't see it happen myself :(

They have 15 days worth of email to fill... by day 15 it will be 'how to use the enclosed screen cloth'

That's so funny!!
Who cares about microsims now! The emails are useless!! I can't understand this policy of hiding the prices till the last second! At least AT&T give their prices immediately!!!
