We ought to be grateful that O2 are actually sending out some sort of information, even if it is mundane.

Hey, this is my first post here, and obviously the hype over the iPhone 4 has brought me here, and what a nice thing to see, a whole thread for the UKI've looked for other places and rarely found this!
My question for you guys is, I live in a relatively small town, and I'm hoping the iPhone 4 is available for PAYG, as I've already got a Simplicity contract, so I was wondering, do you think I'll be able to pick one up on release day or am I in for a wait?
Any answers would be appreciated![]()

1) 3GS was available PAYG on launch day and O2 have indicated that it will be the same this time.
2) As for getting hold of one, hard to say. Last time, I checked with the O2 shop in the small town where I work and they had stock. However, I ended up picking one up in Edinburgh on the way home (they still had stock too - late afternoon) - BUT there was no upgrade path from 3G to 3GS and it is not the same this time. I'm pre-ordering and not risking it.
Can we go to an o2 store and get a micro-sim and adapter?
I've read that there'll be the micro-sim in the actual box, and the people at o2 will no doubt activate it for you whilst you're there.
who did u speak to about this, like i said o2 asured me TODAY i wont be capped if i take out a plan before the 24th on simplicity...
I want to get the ball rolling before having the phone, it will take 24 hours for my details and new micro-sim to be activated, when I get iPhone 4 I want my simplicty to be working![]()
IIRC o2 didn't offer pre-orders for the PAYG iPhone 3GS did they?
Guessing they won't for this one?
sorry this guy is not very helpful but it was an o2 upgrade person on the phone, but then i read the BBC article and it said existing customers keep their unlimited data. so he was misinformed. so i signed up to a 12 month iPhone simplicity plan today and as long i don't change my tariff i should keep my unlimited data.

Agree with you on this...
and some people need idiot guides!

I just phoned o2, and asked them what the situation is with my tariff. I'm on the iPhone Simplicity 20 tariff from when it first came out (600mins, 1200 texts, unlimited data). The lady was very helpful and told me that if I bought the phone outright (which I was going to do anyway), I would keep my tariff including the unlimited data when I transfer it onto a microSIM. She told me that it will stay as it is until I phone up and ask for the tariff to be changed (which I obviously won't).
I also got her to put a note on my file confirming that she had told me this, so that they can't turn and say that it isn't the case. I enquired for other members of my family who have different tariffs, and the information was that if you buy the phone outright, you keep the everything from the tariff that you are on, regardless of the microSIM switch.
Hope that clears stuff up for you guys.
